Autumn Eve

"That Autumn eve was stilled,

A last remains of sunset dimly burned

O'er the far forests, - like a torch flame turned

By the wind back upon the bearer's hand

In one long flare of crimson, as a brand,

The woods beneath lay black."

R. Browning

  2. Librarian,
Richard took this photo just this past Saturday from Arabia Mountain. This poem by Robert Browning is quoted for the month of October from the book, The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden. I love this book, the drawings, what she wrote for each month... it is my kind of book!

  9. A beautiful post, thank you. I was brought up on poetry but I don't think I came across that piece in my youth though I must have read it later, being a lover of Edith Holden's book.
