ICE STORM -" HISTORIC AND UNPRECEDENTED"

I really should show you photos of the trees bent over in ice.  I should take a photo of myself dressed in so many layers that I look like the Michelin man. Instead, I will show you a photo of some ice from Panola Mountain that Richard took on a cold morning a few weeks ago!

We were without power for almost three hours this morning and our house was getting colder and colder by the minute...just now, when I was typing replies on my last post, the power came back on and you know what I started singing, don't you?  SURE YOU DO, you know me, don't you?

No work today for me or for Richard and for thousands of us in Georgia, and across the Southeast.  I just hope the power stays back on, and if not I will be singing the BLUES!  Thank you to all the power companies who sent trucks from other states to help us in this strong and powerful storm.
(Already had one big pine branch crash down and it sounded like a gunshot, almost scared me silly and I am silly enough already! HA!)

  1. hallelujah! Tears are flowing. This reminds me of the time when I was in Concert Choir in high school and we sang the chorus in our local fieldhouse, only venue big enough to hold all those who would come for this annual event. In addition to the choir, those who were familiar with this beautiful music also sat with us.

    1. I would love to have people do this flash mob around me, either with singing or dancing or but I would really love this song! So beautiful and moving.

I knew you would love that video! It was very popular several years ago, but I still look at it now and then.

    1. Thanks! Our power did stay on, and we were grateful. I read that east of us, in Augusta, they were also hit very hard with power outages.

    1. Thank you for your prayers. I know we have had it much easier than others in the country, but ice is ice and is very dangerous no matter the amount!

  6. Your weather is giving us a knock on here in England, terrible rain and howling winds. I just heard on the TV how it has come from North America but originated in SE Asia! Truly , this world is interconnected. I hope your scary weather gets back to normal soon, Kay!

    1. Thank you, Susie! Our weather has been so up and down, cold one week, warm by the next, and then very cold again. It's just so different that it feels unsettling.

  8. I'm hoping your power stays on and the trees aren't too damaged by all this mess. It was sunny here but the temps in the AM were -12 I believe! It's warming up and I'm sure it will down south too. It's just been the worst Winter ever! I loved the video..very fun and also so heartwarming! We need more flash mobs like that! Hang in there Kay!

  17. Stay warm and stay home! We were just below the belt that moved your way so we only got rain (no ice or snow this time). Hopefully we'll have some warm up days soon. I know that after the last storm, 50 degrees never felt so good!

My flowery header is from a bouquet of flowers from England, the flowers there are just incredible, I am amazed by them.

  23. From the images we're being shown on TV here...I can't imagine being surrounded by all the snow and ice that are covering vast areas up your way, Kay. It must be so distressing to be engulfed so. Cars completely lost...streets, roads, driveways buried...there is nothing fun about that. I hope the weather clears once and for all very soon. Same with all the flooding in the UK...I feel for everyone.

    1. I know, I have also seen the photos of the flooding and the high winds in the UK, very scary. We even had an earthquake on Friday night in South Carolina that was felt here in the Atlanta area. Weather seems to have gone wild.
