Something So Right

Something so right, that is what my blog is for me.  (Please listen to the song from Paul Simon that I have here for you, I have always loved this song, but when I think of it in connection with my blog, it means even more to me.) Often when I type my post , I feel as if I am back in piano class and I am on stage here, all alone and I am so nervous that I run off the stage.   I think that I might be more relaxed and more myself in my comments to others.  Recently, P. from his blog, Life Ordinary www.lifeordinary-p.blogspot.com  wrote of flying on KLM.    (And please go to his blog and read his post, it is so funny!)

This is what I wrote and left as a comment...

Ladies and gentlemen, we are now cruising at an altitude of misery unknown in previous generations. You have been packed into this aircraft meant for many fewer passengers so as we can maximize our profits. You will be served a meal, but this is only for legal reasons and we suggest, for your health, that you ignore this gesture from a bygone time. You are advised to keep your sense of humor, and your love of mankind at all times. This flight will be over at some point but we make no claims as to the time itself.  ENJOY YOUR FLIGHT!

Also, on this blog www.thechubbychatterbox.blogspot.com, Stephen asked his readers what was the wildest animal that they had ever seen.  The comment that I left was this... "I once touched an elephant and posed with a lion...but not at the same time."  Now, that is a true statement.  It's not as exciting as it sounds.  The elephant was at Zoo Atlanta, and during a children's program, we were asked if we wanted to touch the elephant. (You know I said yes.).  And once, years ago, at MGM Grand at Lake Tahoe, they still had a real lion there that you could pose with for your photo.  I didn't really want to do it, since the poor animal looked very drugged, but I did and even though the lion looked quite old, he still had a very powerful roar that just shook me right down to my bones!
Thanks to everyone who reads my blog and then, takes the time to leave a comment.  I really appreciate it and I am grateful for each and every one.  Meike, thank you so much for your great encouragement, you KNOW I would not have done this without you.  www.librarianwithsecrets.blogspot.com is Meike's blog.  Also, thanks to Nan from www.lettersfromahillfarm.blogspot.com
. You have such a lovely blog and have been so kind and helpful to me!

I hope everyone is having a lovely Spring, in whatever part of the world that you are in!  We went to Stone Mountain on Tuesday (we had the day off), to Arabia Mountain on Thursday and then, we hope to go back to Stone Mountain tomorrow!  This photo is of a very large tree on one of the trails at Stone Mountain and I just love it, even though I don't know what kind it is.
And the white flower is Mountain Laurel, and it was beautiful on the trail, it was beside a little stream, deep in the woods.  Thanks again for reading my blog, time for me to curtsey and exit the stage!

  1. wow, you play the piano? I've always wanted to learn to play that thing and I even tried to self-study with the use of youtube and guide books. But as usual, I failed. I was having a hard time playing with both hands because my left hand was copying my right hand's movements. That was why I eneded upp picking up a ukulele instead. :/ But sometimes, I feel that I really like the Piano better than a stringed instrument.

    1. Well, uh, I could lie about this, but no, I do NOT play the piano. Traumatized by recitals? Or just not talented enough? Let's say it was trauma, yes that's the reason, surely!
Oh, but I am a WONDERFUL singer, no, really, I am...in my dreams anyway!

  2. So nice that you play the piano. I've always wanted to learn to play an instrument. My husband plays guitar, and so does my younger daughter. The older one plays saxophone, of all things! And we have a keyboard that I tried to teach myself to play. But I get easily distracted and don't stay focused. I'd have to take lessons to really learn it. We'll see. I always have 1001 things going on, so the last thing I need is more!

You have a lovely blog and I enjoy coming over for a visit. I swear if I ever head south, I will stop in and meet you!

I will check out the links of the blogs you listed. I'm always on the lookout for fun places to visit, and new people to meet.

    1. Dear Martha,
My sister was the one with the musical talent, I was just along for the ride. I can't play the piano. I did take the lessons and have to do the recitals, honest!
My husband and son are the musical ones, they play both the guitar and write songs. I enjoy music very much, but alas, I cannot play the piano or any other instrument.
And thank you so much Martha for your great comments. I would love to see you! Come on down, Stone Mountain is waiting for you!
You will like those blogs I have mentioned. They are just so darn funny and good, just like yours!

  3. It's fun to read your blog, and you suffered through those piano recitals, too? That was the one thing i regretted when i had the kids take piano, was that teachers still make kids do that.

Those links are next on my list.

    1. The recitals were fine for my sister who was a more sociable creature than I was...When you are a shy kid, they feel more like torture! I can't play a note on the piano, if that gives you any idea what they did do me!
Hope you like those blogs too, they really are good.

  5. I too like to let myself go in comments. (Sometimes I surprise myself.) Do you feel that you know yourself better since you started blogging? I sure do.

The Mountain Laurel is so beautiful - I've never seen it before. And I love your Very Tall Tree. I'm a tree fanatic myself and am constantly photographing branches against the sky.

Thanks for your kind comment on my blog!

The trees at Stone Mountain are magnificent. There is just no other word for them. And the Mountain Laurel, we were so lucky to see the flowers, we almost missed them. (It gets so hot here, you can miss the blooms if you don't get there fast!)

Oh yes, I have seen your comments on there too!
I'm glad you like the song too, the music is very good but the lyrics really speak to me.
"When something goes wrong, I'm the first to admit it, the first to admit it, but the last one to know". Ha, that's me!

  11. I rode a camel in Turkey, but the strangest animal I've ever been near was a Bitterung we saw in a German zoo, looked like nothing I've ever seen and is said to smell like peanut butter.

    1. Would love the thought of riding a camel. And the Bitterung, I have never heard of...will have to ask Meike in Germany about that one!

  12. A few years ago I started piano lessons - but had to give up because I was driving the poor tutor crazy with my plink-plonk efforts. I love stopping by your blog - keep up the good work! I always feel guilty because I don't blog as often as other people.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Don't worry about how much you blog, your posts CRACK ME UP!!

  13. I love reading other people's blogs and commenters. I see so many things there that I wouldn't see or hear without the internet. I'm uncomfortable commenting, I prefer to appreciate from a distance, but strive to say thankyou (thankyou Kay!)by commenting sometimes....

I thank YOU for leaving this nice comment!

I would guess from the bark that the tree might be an Ash but the leaves are too far away to tell. Whatever it is I love the photo.

  17. Thanks John!
And we saw the same tree on another trail that we were on and Richard got a better photo of the leaves, so look out for a future post and maybe you can help me. Oddly enough, I think I took almost the same photo of the same type of tree at the Hydro Hotel in Eastbourne, so look out for my post on the Hydro!
Oh, and the photo...I took that one!!!
