The Versatile Blogger Award And Giveaway!

On February 15th, a great gal named Tracey Steele from www.breathingenglishair.blogspot.com was kind enough to give the Versatile Blogger award to me.  And then, the author and blogger Jenny Woolf from www.jennywoolftravel.blogspot.com was sweet enough to do the same!  Therefore, I have concluded that I am truly versatile and I really need to think of some things about myself pretty quickly!  Thank you to both of these wonderful writers and I shall accept this award and will post the nice green sign somewhere on my blog, as soon as I figure out how to do it.

You are supposed to list seven facts about yourself but Jenny had a great idea and she posted some photos that really told a lot about her.   This is a great idea and I hope she won't mind if I copy that idea!  (After posting seven things, you then bestow the versatile blogger award to seven others, letting them know, of course.)

This is a sweet potato that my Daddy saved for me because he knew that I would think it was hilarious.    He really knows his daughter, doesn't he?

I really love to take photos of flowers and trees but this really caught my eye. I loved the contrast in the two greens here.   This was taken in Madison, Georgia. (Nearby town where my Dad lives.)

I am not a good cook or baker but I have made Christmas cookies for years and SOMETIMES they come out really well.  The cookie cooker in the shape of a bird?  That came FREE in a magazine, English, of course!

At Christmas, I always have one special card that I must have close to me...this is one that I tacked up in my work area and  I kept it there long after Christmas!
The Monastery which is right here in Rockdale County is an oasis of great peace and beauty.

We were able to go on a bluebell walk in England in May of 2010.     This was just so beautiful to me. Thank you, Joan and Peter, this meant more to me than you can possibly imagine!

This is a photo of my dear husband and sweet son just before we went on our last walk at Panola Mountain.
Hopefully, you can tell a bit about me from these photos that I have just posted!

Now, for the bloggers that I have nominated for The Versatile Blogger award!  They are (in no particular order):

All of these bloggers write about many different things so I think that should qualify each and every one as being a versatile blogger!

Wait, didn't I say in my title something about a giveaway? It's only something small  but my husband and I were very happy to find a slim book about Stone Mountain that was packed with lots of information.  I have chosen this book as a giveaway since this is....drum roll please.......my 100th post!

If you leave a comment on here, I will put all the comments into one of my son's hats and one day during the coming week, I will draw a name and mail this book to the name chosen!

This is me waving BYE BYE and I just want to say thank you so much for visiting my blog!
GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED:  THANK YOU FOR READING MY BLOG AND I HOPE TO HAVE ANOTHER GIVEAWAY. Scriptor Senex and Audrey Goes Local were the winners...I pulled TWO names from the hat, just for fun.  And it was fun, joyful even. Wishing you joy!

  1. Congratulations on the well-deserved award and your 100th post!!! Aren't you glad that some time last year I managed to talk you into starting your own blog? Well, I know I am glad you did, because there is always something interesting, funny, thought-provoking to read and beautiful pictures to look at!
Oh... my name is on that list - thank you!!!

    1. Dear Meike,
You know I wouldn't have my blog if not for you! Thank you so much, can you tell how much I enjoy it? ;-)

You know you are a versatile blogger, you write about so many things...might as well have a little green sign to say so!

    2. I'm up very early today (5.00) and will be on my way to working at a fair in Duesseldorf and back home on Friday, but after that, I'll post about the award you so kindly rewarded me with. Plus there will be a long, long walk :-)

    3. Good luck on your working trip to Duesseldorf! No rush on your blog award, I don't think there should be a time limit, do you? (Hey, I would say that, since it took me so long to write mine!) And I am happy for your long, long walk!

  2. D**n - just wrote a long comment it disappeared. Here goes again.

    Firstly, congratulations, Kay.

Secondly, thank you. I stopped doing awards long time ago but may accept this and do a posting because |I too saw \jenny's post and liked the way she'd done it. Whether I accept it or not, thank you.

Thirdly, the sculpture is fascinating. Does it exist - I've never seen it on sany of your posts since I started followng you which, I think, was last September or October. Was it one I missed?

    1. Scriptor,
I suspected that you didn't bother with awards, but you really are a versatile blogger...look at all the blogs you have! If this is a burden for you or for anyone to do, then I just want to say, please don't feel you MUST do anything at all! :-) As Jenny said, it is only just a bit of fun...
That cover of the book shows the detail of one of the carvings on Stone Mountain, that is solid rock and is on the face of Stone Mountain, I will have to do a post on it! I might not have ever talked about the carving, it is huge, as you can tell from the man pictured beside Jefferson Davis' nose!

    1. Dear Tracey,
Thanks, but just like my jokes, I steal the best ideas too! Jenny Woolf did the same thing on her blog when she got her Versatile blogger award!
And thanks again for giving me two awards. I'm sorry it took me so long, but it kind of stumped me as to make myself say some things about myself, until I saw Jenny's post, and thought the photos would help me. They did!
And my Christmas card is still in my drawer at work, and will come out again next year to go on my wall!

  4. I love that your dad would save that sweet potato for you! It would appeal to me, too. It was really nice learning all these things about you. And doing it with pictures is the best way.

Congratulations on your award, and to all the others who you passed it to.

Oh dear, my husband had to take a photo from a great distance to make me look cute! Good thing he's a good photographer!

  6. I really enjoyed this post!! I love the idea of illustrating each random fact with pics - it makes it that much more personal. That sweet potato is hilarious and I especially liked the contrast in greens shot. And the bluebells walk, which would have been heavenly. Please include me in your giveaway - that book looks delightful and please know that I'm waving back :)

    1. Dear Jane,
I am glad you liked the photos! Your name will be in hat for the drawing!
I suppose I could have said I was saying "hello" instead of "goodbye" but since the photo was at the end, that is the way my mind works! Perhaps I should have said "Aloha".

  7. Hello Kay, and congratulations on your 100th post and your award! Thank you also for the compliment of choosing me as one you are passing it on to. Like Scriptor Senex, I stopped doing awards a long time ago, but I sincerely appreciate the gesture. It's always lovely to be appreciated!

Stone Mountain is truly an amazing place. I was able to visit the park several years ago. We never made it up the mountain itself, but exploring the historic village below and walking around the rest of the park I will never forget.

    1. Dear Sara,
Thank you! And as regards to the award,
"No worries" as my friend from England used to say!
Oh, I'm glad that you have seen Stone Mountain! It's funny but the folks around here take it for granted just because it is so close, but it really is a place of great natural beauty.

  8. You are the best, Kay!!! I loved learning a few new things about you - and also receiving this very sweet award! You have enriched my life through your posts, showing me parts of Georgia I don't yet know and also by introducing me to some of your blog friends! Thank you so much!!! Hugs, Silke

Having an artist say that I am the best...you have made my day!
THANK YOU for being so creative and also for YOUR kindness. I hope you don't feel stressed out or hurried to have to think of anything to do with the award, I didn't see any time limit, so I did it when I had the time to type it up! :-)
      Hugs to you!

  9. Thank you so much for another walk up Stone Mountain. I am so grateful to have found your blog. It is so nice to see the Mountain in sunshine - any sunshine, however far away is a real bonus at the moment. We have had extremely mild winter weather but the down side is that we have had about 8 sunny days since October! If it hasn't been raining then it has just stopped and if it has stopped, then it is about to rain again! Roll on Summer.

I loved the Bluebells - they must have been in Sussex - somewhere like Arundel or maybe Amberley? I would be interested to know. Here in Lewis we have heather and gorse and in my garden clumps of snowdrops and daffodils about to come out.

Look forward to our next walk up Stone Mountain.

    Best wishes Pat

    1. Hey Pat!
Oh, look out for another post and I will have more photos of Stone Mountain! We just went there yesterday and it was beautiful! (That last photo of me was from our trip yesterday!)
The bluebells! Oh, I was so excited to see them...we usually go over around May 20th or so, and we always MISS them! But because that winter had been so cold, the bluebells were late which was lucky for us, as we saw them AT THEIR BEST! That is what the sign said, if you look at my post from Nov. 11th from last year, the last two photos were from that walk... It was the Arlington Bluebell Walk and Farm Trail and I think it is just outside Polegate, E. Sussex or near there. I don't do any of the driving, so I just enjoy the lovely scenery!
      Best wishes to you too!

  10. Congratulations on your 100th post, Kay. I love your writing so I am really looking forward to your next 100 and then onwards towards 1000 posts. Thanks also for recognizing me through the Versatile blogger award. As someone who is relatively new to blogging I am very flattered. I love how you used photos as responses to the award questions. They illustrate your creativity. Congrats and thanks again!

  12. Congrats, you deserve it!

Love your idea to share more about yourself via pictures (as I am a visual learner & appreciate the lovely images), cute picture of your "boys" & a darling one of you!

In regards Jared, I don't mind that you looked it up online. I think that is the natural reaction, to be honest. It has been a difficult few months & I really appreciate your sympathy. We just held his service last Monday & it brought all the emotions back up again.

    Peace be with you,
    Elizabeth

p.s. Nice to meet a fellow Episcopalian.

    1. Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you! I meant to say in my last comment how beautiful it is that you will be married in the same church as your parents and how lovely that photo was...those trees in the church, magical!

Jared's family (and friends) must be going through such a rough time, it was such a shock for you all...

Thanks for your sweet comment. (I thought of this award for you, but thought you might be too busy for it with your wedding plans and all, and maybe one of those that I have nominated will have the pleasure of naming you!) :-)

      And Also With You,
      Kay

Bluebells are so beautiful! Every time we visit England, we have JUST missed them! In 2010 though, the winter was harsh so it made them late bloomers. So very grateful to see them!

  14. Hi Kay G.

How lovely that you have been to Arlington. We used to go to the annual Agricultural Show there - one of the biggest shows in England. You were there in May 2010 and we were there in November 2010 at the Heavy Horses Show. How close our paths get to crossing. Maybe one day .............

Best wishes and happy walking. Pat

I took some photos of the animals just there at the beginning of the walk, I will have to do a post and show my photos of the animals and you can see if you recognize them and the surroundings!
Hey, did you know that I am in the "INSIDE CROCHET" magazine for the month of March? I am one of those pictured (little photos). Photo was made on the Eastbourne seafront in front of snow -in -summer flowers and I am wearing a green and white shirt, the one with dark hair, big head like a basketball! HA!
      xx Kay

    2. Snow in Summer or "Summer Snow" as we know it is so pretty. It grows easily up here in Lewis. My front garden is just full of it in summer. I must find out about "Inside Crochet" magazine. I have never seen it on display in the newsagents - but then perhaps I have not been looking for it!

Look forward to seeing more of your pictures.

Best wishes from Me in the rain AGAIN!!! Pat

  15. Kay, thank you so much. That was so sweet of you and I appreciate it very much. We have a house full of guests until next week so it will take me a while to do my "thank you post". I'm also trying to check out your other nominations when I have time. I enjoyed your seven things about yourself and that sweet potato picture made me laugh so hard....before I even read what you'd written. Too funny!

  16. Dear Audrey,
You have two little girls, I don't know even know how you keep yourself looking so good! :-)
Take your time! You're busy! I am glad that you might also have fun with the award and maybe also show us some photos with your facts about yourself too?
I felt I had to put something funny on there, I come across all so serious in my blog but I am a bit of nut, really. (Or is that nutcase?)
