The Very Thought Of You

One of our favorite movies is "The Very Thought Of You" and stars Monica Potter, Joseph Finnes, Rufus Sewell and Tom Hollander.  It's really a sweet old fashioned kind of movie. Filmed mostly in London, it is fun to recognize bits of London that you may know.  Originally, it was a TV movie by the name of "Martha- Meet Frank, Daniel and Lawrence."  It involves all those gorgeous men  that I have listed and they meet a beautiful blonde American and all fall for her and laughter and trouble ensues.  I found a trailer for this movie on Youtube but since it is only a short movie, it showed a lot of the funniest bits, so I didn't want to ruin it for you.  If you are looking for a movie to watch for Valentine's Day, I would suggest this one to you.  It's not just a "chick flick" either, as my husband and son like it very much too.  Did you know that my son's major at college is Film?
It's very interesting to watch a movie with him as he points out so much to me that I have never considered.
Movies are really just stories brought to life, either from books or from a screenplay.  So, if you like to read, then you really should like movies too, especially good ones that I can recommend to you.  I only like the good ones!  I really like "The Very Thought Of You" because it is so well written.  It is by Peter Morgan and he is the same one who wrote "The Last King of Scotland", "The Queen", and "Frost/Nixon".
You may think that I just love this movie because it is about a beautiful American girl with English guys fawning all over her.  Oh yes, that has ALWAYS happened to me anytime I am in England!
Come to think of it though, I was serenaded once on the London underground after the young men involved made fun of my bright (Kryptonite) raincoat, does that count as fawning over?

Peanut M&M's are gluten free!  Happy Valentine's Day!

  1. My daughter's minor in university is film, and she is really enjoying it. There are so many interesting things she is learning about the industry, especially its history.

I've never heard of "The Very Thought Of You", but it sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have to check it out.

And you are right, being someone who reads A LOT, I do enjoy watching movies--but only if they're really good. And I'm not particular to a certain type. I enjoy a variety of them as long as they're well made.

    1. Dear Martha,
Like you, I enjoy a variety of movies. If I weren't so shy and awkward, I would list my favorite movies on my profile!
Oh, and thanks again for the history of the heartshaped chocolate boxes on your blog. Cadbury's is royal in our household (I'm sure the Queen wouldn't mind me saying this.)

    1. Dear Jenny,
We love that movie! I promise it's not too sappy, make sure you see it all the way through to the end with Ray Winstone! (And even the end credits are funny).
      Happy Valentine's to you too!

    1. Dear Nan,
Oh, I hope you like it as much as I do!
Have you ever seen "Best In Show", the movie by Christopher Guest?

  5. Happy Valentine's Day! I will have to add it to the 'list' for sure. I love movies, but not romantic ones, unless they are Woody-Allenesque - ie: quirky and funny and don't take themselves too seriously. I try not to see a movie if there is any chance I might want to read the book first. I didn't know that M&M's were gluten-free - that's good to know :)

    1. Dear Jane,
Oh, I agree so very much. Quirky and funny, that is really a good description of "The Very Thought Of You"!
I hope you get to see it and like it as much as I do.
"MIdnight in Paris" is Woody Allen's new one, and it does look good...
M&M's are gluten free, but they had to mess up and start putting pretzels in some, so make sure you don't get those if you have to be on a gluten free diet!!!

    1. Dear Audrey,
HA! You have two little ones, so I know what you mean!
My son was born in 1989 and I don't think we saw hardly any movies during the 90's other than those made for children. Not that I am complaining, mind you, my husband and I loved everything we did with our son! Enjoy your children, they grow up so quickly! :-)
