Do You Love Me? (Now That I Can Dance)

Viral video out now of robots dancing to "Do You Love Me".  While everyone else is marveling over dancing robots, I am just thrilled at hearing some music that is not only familiar to me but it is music that is happy, not angry- get-in-your-face kind of music that seems to be so popular these days. (And much of it is has such vulgar language that I just can't even....)

Here...you know you want to hear the whole song, I am sure!

The song was written by Berry Gordy. I do hope you were all able to watch the documentary about Motown that I told you about recently! Can't remember the name of it but you should be able to do a search and find it!

The song was a hit in 1962 and although Berry Gordy wrote it for The Temptations, they were unable to record it and so it went to the group, The Contours.  (It was also a hit in 1988. Is this because of the film "Dirty Dancing"? I am only guessing, someone might know and tell me!)

Okay, now just in case you have not seen the dancing robots...I have the video from YouTube for you here. And of course, it is clever to have them dance to that tune... "Do you Love Me? Now that I can dance?" So funny. And maybe it is just me, I just like the robots dancing that are on two legs, the others ones just creep me out a wee bit. But that's just me!  (I personally have always felt a bit close to the computer from "Lost In Space".  "Danger, Will Robinson, DANGER", he was always saying that. And that is so very much like me, I always keep on the lookout for any harm coming to well...anyone! Yes, a bit of a mother hen, so this 2020 has been challenging.)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hope you are all doing well.  The virus rates in the state of Georgia are at an all time high and yet...you would never know it, the restaurants and gyms are open and very busy. Oh well, the robots are dancing anyway...

  1. I have not seen the dancing robots but may watch them later.
You know how much I like Motown; if I can find the documentary, I shall watch it!
Over here, restaurants, gyms and all non-essential shops as well as schools and nurseries have been closed since December 16 and won‘t open until January 10 or longer. When I was on the train to OK on the 25th, there were maybe another 5 or 6 other people in the same car with me, and of course everyone was wearing a mask. I have not looked at the latest figures for here, but the situation remains critical.

In spite of that, we still have a lot to be grateful for and happy about, don‘t we! Take care, dear Kay, and have a happy New Year‘s Eve with Richard (and Christopher?} !

    1. Happy New Year! Richard and I just tried to survive the loud noise in our neighborhood. Last gunshots were at 2AM! Today, steady hard rain! Oh well, the sun will come out again! Take care!

  6. I thought the robots were pretty funny and very clever too! I love this song and I'm guessing the movie did spur it on for a second run at being popular. Have a Happy New Year! I'm ready for a new one!

  7. That is a great tune – I liked it back then in 62 and still do. The robots were fun, but I prefer watching people. It’s a great piece of music to exercise, gets you motivated. Music now I don’t think is that good for dancing. I live in what they call “music city” but they mean country music only – which I am not that keen on. There was a classical radio station in Nashville and it stopped on December 1st.
So we are finally at the end of this horrible year. Let’s hope 2021 will bring relief. Have a great New Year!

    1. My Dad was a huge country fan but he really didn't like much of what they now call "country". Music! I find songs and songwriting so fascinating, I do wonder how I can even do anything all day I think of it so much. Happy New Year to you! Thanks very much for your comment! I love your blog, you are such a wonderful writer. Take care in Tennessee. x

  8. Gosh, Kay, how different it all is from one country to the next. I am amazed your gyms are still open despite the high covid rate. Our States are once again closing borders to each other as further clusters develop in Sydney and Melbourne. Happy Memories of 1962, 'Now that I can dance' - lol, I was in High School :) Happy New Year.

    1. I was five in 1962 but I do remember dancing to that song with my aunts who were teenagers then!
And really, just about everything is open here now, so it is bit scary. Not everyone will wear a mask either, I just don't understand it. Take care! I love to read your blog, you have such an artistic way of looking at life, it is most enjoyable. x

  11. LOL! Just what I needed today, dancing robots. I absolutely loved the four-legged, yellow robot! And, yes, I loved that song, then and now. I wasn't even thinking of your being in Georgia! You have my complete and utter sympathy, Kay! I'll bet you can't wait until the runoff elections are over. Can you imagine what all that campaign money could have done to help people in need? It's obscene! I guess you'll have to turn the music up high enough to mask all the political noise and dance with robots until this is over. Sending you a big hug!

  12. Good gosh! Dancing robots? I had to look it up to see if it was real or CGI. According to Elon Musk it's not CGI. I agree with everything Fundy Blue said.

  13. By the way, I just had to send the dancing robots video to my little grandsons. They'll love it! They're into dinosaurs right now, but that video might turn them into robot fans.

    1. Oh I'm tickled to show it to you and you sent it to your grandsons. I MIGHT have tried to do the same dance moves as the robots. You will have to guess if that's true! Ask my husband!☺

  14. Enjoyed the dancing robots.

Here in England, UK, we are in lockdown until at least mid February with shops, schools etc all closed. I'm hoping things will improve.

My good wishes for a happy and healthy 2021.

    All the best Jan
