Rainy Night In Georgia (It's A Great Song Too!)

Let's talk about the weather. How is it where you are? We have had very hot, dry weather.  Some days lately I would get in my car and it would say 100 degrees! And it was so dry, our grass was getting brown and crunchy.  Today, it rained.  And rained.  And rained!
It has rained so much, my phone keeps going off with alarms that tell me that there is a flash flood warning until 3:00 PM. NO...make that 5:30 PM.  Now, it is 9:30 PM!  When it rains, it pours!

So, what is it like for you?  And do you have any SONGS that you would pertain to your part of the world?  You know I do!

"Lord, I feel like it's raining all over the world."

It won't be too long until we see blue sky again!  Hopefully.

  1. "Rainy Night in Georgia"....a wonderful song.

It's been chilly here...it is our winter, of course. I like the colder temperatures. We had a little rain throughout the night, but it is now a bright, sunny day.

    1. I think I want to go to Australia when it is winter time and it is summer time here, that would be wonderful for me!

  2. How about Five Feet High and Rising by Johnny Cash. Although right now the fields are trying to drain.

    1. That is a great song too and one that I know many don't want to think about singing (Cause flooding is not a good thing.)

  4. We had 'leaking through the conservatory roof' kind of rain yesterday. As for songs, well it has to be English Country Garden for me.

    1. Oh yes! I know that song! My father in law has a conservatory. If we had that in Georgia, we would be able to sit in it during the winter months only!

  5. We got the storm last Wednesday and it left us with a little over 14 inches of rain over 2 days. How about an old song - Waltz Across Texas.

    1. 14 inches of rain in 2 days, that makes ours seem like nothing! I looked up Waltz Across Texas... and now you have made me want to go to Texas and dance with that song! Just saw a lot of videos!

  6. That photo! It hasn't actually rained here today but we needed the break, we've had heavy rain for three days and it's so cold that we put the heating back on yesterday evening. As we say, it's nice weather for ducks! x

    1. Oh dear, the heating back on...poor you. Although, believe it or not, I think I would enjoy that. The heat here is bad but when it rains the humidity will just kill ya. xx

  7. Many parts of the UK have had a lot of rain as Storm Miguel passed through … but many areas still have bad weather (heavy rain) warnings in place.

I did like your photograph showing beautiful blue skies.

Wishing you a good week ahead, no matter what the weather may be.

    All the best Jan

    1. Don't you just love a blue sky after a lot of rain? And the cloud almost looks heart shaped, don't you think?
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead Jan, thank you!
(And I noticed that you also were friends with Janet from Mac & Janet. I feel so sad over her passing. We have friends from blogging and even though we might not ever meet...well, you know, like you, I have lost a friend.)

  8. Wishing you pretty blue skies Kay. We have had too much rain this spring...the farmers have just gotten into the fields to plant this past week. Today it is raining again. I always worry about flooding, it's too scary. Be safe. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Yes, not only flooding but you also have to worry about how the rain will affect the crops! Take care, sweet Susie! xxx

  9. Raindrops keep falling on my head - Burt Bacharach. We could use more rain over here in Hawaii. But it does rain sometimes.

  11. Re: your comment on this entry in my blog.... The film you spoke of, "I'll See You In My Dreams" did not star Doris Day. It was a blond Blythe Danner. Mother of Gwyneth Paltrow. And no, I have never seen it. So happy you enjoyed it though...

    1. The one with Doris Day also stars Danny Thomas and is from 1951. That Blythe Danner film has the same title but total different movie and year. Just thought I would tell you about it because it was such a great film. Doris Day was great in anything but that role allowed her to show not only her great singing voice but what a marvelous actress she was.

    2. Ooooops! Sorry!!!! I discovered this, just now. Hours later. That Blythe Danner thing, is much newer.

But yes!!!! Doris Day did one, years ago.

Have not seen it, that I remember, but will try to get it out of our library system.

Thank you. And sorry for getting mixed up!!!!!!

    3. I only saw that 1951 film when they showed it last year on TCM, Turner Classic Movies. It is directed by Michael Curtiz, one of my favorite directors, he also directed "Casablanca", "Yankee Doodle Dandy", "White Christmas", "King Creole" along with many others!
No worries, there are many films that have either the same title or very similar ones. Oddly enough even though I love that film I can never remember the title of it...I kept thinking it was another one of the songs by Gus Khan! (That is what the film is about, the songwriter Gush Khan, played by Danny Thomas and Doris Day plays his wife.)

  12. Our weather has been cool, with some delightful days, sprinkled in. Basically, our spring was cool and rainy. Wondering when we will see local tomatoes????? -sigh-

I saw "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" in a post recently, and it has _stuck_ in my mind. LOL And why not? We have more raindrops forecast!

    Gentle hugs...

  13. We are getting too much rain........It's difficult to get even the planting on my deck finished because the soil hasn't a chance to dry out enough. And it has been cooler than usual. But this combination has let flowers last much longer than usual! That's a good thing!

    1. We have delicate seedlings out and tender plants...so we have to run out in the rain and rescue them and bring them under shelter! Poor little plants depending on us to save them from strong buckets of rain!

    1. Been busy today and not much time on computer. I always delete those type comments as soon as I can and report them as SPAM. Doesn't seem to matter, I keep getting them. Like graffiti on a brick wall, those comments are to me.

  15. It's very hot and humid, yet the grass and plants are desperate for water because we've had so little rain. It finally rained this afternoon, and not just a few drops. It was serious rain. The plants will still say them want more. I read the comments about Doris Day. I adored Doris Day. I'm sorry she's gone. What a fighter for animals. I love her movies. TCM is great. I also watched her TV show when I was growing up. She was beautiful, and what a voice!

    Love,
    Janie

  16. I live in a farming community, so the weather is always foremost in everyone's thoughts. Here it's been a little cold, it is our winter afterall, but not too bad. We've had good rain but not too much. The countryside is lush and green. Life is good when the weather is good.

    1. Lush and green countryside, that sounds so beautiful. Rain is good but too much can be a problem, it is not so bad here as it is in other parts of the country, but I think I have that disorder that many people have, SAD, I need to see sun. 🌞

  17. Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm a bit slack these days with posting. so many other things to do in retirement. Hee hee. It must be good to get the rain when everything was so dry. That happens here too. No rain for ages and then it buckets down. We are in the best weather at the moment even though its winter we are having lovely warm sunny days.

    1. That is usually what we have in the winter, sunny days but this past February, for example, it rained almost every day that month. It was dreadful. Didn't help my Dad died that month. It was like the world was crying.

  18. We get a lot of rain here but when I visited my sister in Australia they had just had ten years of drought and all the rivers were nearly dry. Made me appreciate where I live when I returned to the UK.

    1. As much as I dislike so much rain, I prefer it over a drought! There is a real desperation during a drought, you keep looking at the skies...Will it be today, please God make it rain...that is what it is like!
