    1. There is so much ugliness in the world, we need to appreciate the beauty that we have! Thankfully, much was saved and it could have been worse.

    1. Hey Susie! You would think I jet over to Paris all the time or something instead, I have never set foot in France! Still, I mourn the loss of anything burned at Notre Dame as if I were some kind of world traveler. xx

    1. I know, I was too...downright tearful, still am, come to think about it.
Thanks for your comment, Janie Junebug...as I told you, your name reminds me of my dear Dad, and that is always good. x

    1. If only I could see Paris, just one time! Oh well, just goes to show you don't have to see it to love it.

  8. That singing was so beautiful in the midst of such a tragedy. I saw Notre Dame during Easter weekend 1974 and I wish so much I had seen it more often. So heartbreaking.

  9. I was glued to the BBC news channel last night, I just couldn't believe it. However, the news today is not as bad as we feared. Praise God. x

    1. Can you believe it, I have a photo of Notre Dame on my printer at work. When I looked at it today, I realized the steeple is completely gone. Did you see that there is a competition to rebuild it? I do wonder what they will do?

  11. So sad and I do hope it can be repaired and I was happy to hear many of the artifacts were saved. This Easter week is time for hope. Prayers going out for the city of Paris.

    1. And I bet you are like me, I loved the image of the cross hanging over the altar with all smoke around it! Easter is a time of hope and renewal. It is good to read of the plans to rebuild the cathedral.

    1. Absolutely. Now, you have made me think of looking up some music...wondering what might have been sung at Notre Dame before the fire...here it is...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbdXXzhVKJc

  13. I saw Notre Dame inside and out in Nov 1969. Beautiful stained glass windows and the gargoyles outside were amazing.

    1. The stained glass, I have read about them for years...I think they said they were able to save a lot of it. I hope so.

  14. The fire was devastating. Hard to watch and realize it was real on the TV. So thankful no one was injured, but how long the repairs will take is sad. I heard the estimate is 6 years of being closed.

    1. Those brave firefighters! God bless them! 6 years, think of how little that is compared to the age of this great cathedral! Very sorry for what has been lost but grateful for what is saved and what can be rebuilt.

  15. Such sad news. One upside though is that it will employ large bands of highly skilled craftsmen over many years during the restoration process.

    1. Amazing thing I just saw on the news, they found the medal rooster from the very top of the spire! It was dented, of course, but not that bad considering the great fall.

  16. So, so sad, and right on Easter, the most holy time of the Christian calendar. Thank you for sharing the singing, which I had not seen. It is so touching and poignant. Poor Paris.
