"Don't Worry Baby" by B.J. Thomas on Larry's Country Diner

Very often when I would call my Dad, he would be listening to one of his favorite shows on the RFD channel..."Larry's Country Diner".  I would say to him, "Oh good, I will turn it on and watch it too and then, call you right back and we will talk about the show!"
Wish I could talk to him about this clip from the show that I just found!  It is B. J. Thomas and he is singing a song by the Beach Boys, "Don't Worry Baby".

B. J. Thomas had his first hit with a cover of Hank Williams' song "I'm So Lonesome, I Could Cry" in 1968.  His biggest hit was "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" which was from the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" from 1969.   I am pleased that B. J. Thomas is still touring and making records.   What an amazing voice he has!  I really enjoyed the way that he did this song.

I have more to say about B. J. Thomas, so look out for more about him in a future post!

  3. "I guess I shoulda kept my mouth shut when I started to brag about my car" One of my top 3 BB songs - no, I think it is my very top of all their songs. Never heard it sung by anyone else. There were a few months when Hazel was little that I would sing that and she would fall asleep!

    1. Brian Wilson is a genius, as you know! Of course, B.J. Thomas must love the Beach Boys too! I love that you sang that song to Hazel! I would sing "Surfer Girl" to my baby son, but changed it to "Christopher"...it fits perfectly! I totally stole that from my Aunt Gayle, who named her son that years before! :-)

  4. I image thoughts of your dad come to mind very often, I can appreciate just how much your talks on the phone meant to you. There are those in my life I'm missing too.

    Love and hugs,

    1. I saw my Dad most every weekend but during the week, we were on the phone constantly! We would call each other over anything little thing or any big thing! I do miss him very much.
      Love to you!

  5. This is a fine singer and I know I've listened to hundreds of his songs but never thought about the person who sang them. Now I looked him up on wiki.....I always used to call my Mom when I was doing the dishes in the evening. It sounds like a crazy time to choose but no one was talking to me then! After she died I wanted to call her every day at that time........

    1. I constantly look up singers and songwriters...I need to write my own book about them! And it is that way with me, in the 8:00 hour, I feel as if I am supposed to do something, and I realize that I am thinking of calling my Dad. xx

    1. I know! His voice is STILL wonderful, and I love how the people just sat there and LISTENED. It drives me crazy the way folks will talk and laugh while there is someone performing. Where is the respect these days?
