Patience

Over the weekend, I saw an episode of "Graham Norton" on BBC America.  One of the guests was Gary Barlow.  He seemed to be such a nice guy but I had never heard of him.  Our son was visiting us and I think he was surprised that I didn't know him.  He promptly produced a CD for me and played one of his favorite songs from that particular CD, "Patience".   I have it for you here...

You may read more about Gary Barlow just here.  And I hope you WILL read about him if you don't know him! He is one of Britain's most successful songwriters and you all know how I love songwriters! Not only that, but he is a such an inspiring person. If you look at that link that I gave you and scroll down to his charity work, you will see what I mean.

My friends, I see that I have only written two posts for the month of October.  Is it because I have nothing to say? No! I have loads of things to tell you...you will just have to have...wait for it...PATIENCE!  Ha, you knew I would say it, didn't you?

So, am I the only one in the world who didn't know Gary Barlow? Tell me!

Wishing I was in England just now! When you walk along the seafront in Eastbourne, the air is clean and fresh and you hear the surf pounding the pebbles onto the beach.  It is beautiful. I will get back there, but you know, I must have...patience!

Hope you are all well, my friends.

  1. I have been a fan of Take That and Gary Barlow since 1992. :) I am in Australia and we do seem to get more UK music here than you do in the states, though.

    1. Hello! Thank you for your comment! I love your colorful eye.
Yes, I think you get a lot more of the British stuff than we do in the States. Lucky you.

  2. I’m afraid I don’t know Gary Barlow either. I’m not a good example though. Up until about 8 years ago, I didn’t know who Leonard Cohen was either. We were in Canada and met a young woman who told us she’d come all the way from South America to see Cohen’s last performance. When we got home and mentioned it to my brother, he was aghast that I’d not heard his musical poetry. I love Leonard Cohen now.

    1. Funny isn't it, when we somehow miss knowing someone that is quite well known. Happy you found Leonard Cohen! xx

  3. Have not heard of him! And I wish I were in England, too, almost every day. Just now am watching Foyle's War, again. Excellent.

    1. Oh good, I am glad I am not the only one! He was on the show with Jamie Lee Curtis and she seemed to like him too. It almost felt like she was going to adopt him before the show was over!

  6. Like Christopher, I am surprised you had not heard of Gary Barlow before, what with your love of all things British. I can't say I am a "fan" but I like many of his songs. I didn't know about his charity activities, though, so - once again! - I have learned something from your post :-)
There's plenty I'd like to write about these days, too, but there is little time and occasion for that at the moment, so, not many posts coming from me, either.

    1. Well, I can't keep up with everything British! After all, I am a lady of a certain age! :-) No matter how famous he is, it is the charity work that he has done that impresses me.
Goodness, I have been so dang busy I hardly have time to breathe. Oh well, I will try to catch up soon. Take care!

  7. I have never heard of Gary Barlow either, but I read the link and he has had a very impressive career, and the song is polished and appealing. The fact I only listen to the classical music radio might be an explanation! :)

    1. Since you only listen to classical music that would be the reason that you haven't heard of him! :-) Ah, classical music, you are making me miss my father-in-law in England, that is all he listens to also! x

  13. I love "The Graham Norton Show"...and always watch it. Norton is hilarious and puts his guests at ease quickly. Some also look as if they don't know what has hit them! :)

    1. He is so funny but if you notice, he is never mean which means a lot to me. Did you know that he lives near Eastbourne? I had photos on my blog of myself skimming stones, that is very near to where he built his house! Doesn't means beans to anyone else but it tickles me to know that particular spot.☺

    2. Oh! Just looked it up! He is selling it for 2.3 million pounds. Let's buy it, Lee! ☺

    3. Wait,I looked further, it is sold! Probably didn't have enough closet space anyway.LOL.

    4. It wasn't me!!! I wasn't the buyer!!! :)

No...he, Norton, is never mean...he's great. I loved seeing Jeff Goldblum again, too...on that particular episode. I love Goldblum. He is so expressive...I love watching his hands.

    5. Lee, glad you came back and read this! ☺ yes! That episode was fun, with Jeff Goldblum and Jamie Lee Curtis! Watching with our son made that extra special. He was a huge fan of Jurassic Park and as you know, Jamie Lee is married to Christopher Guest same name as our son! Now lee, are you SURE you didn't buy that house?☺

    6. I was in love with Tony Curtis when I was a little girl. I had his photo on my bedroom wall. I read everything I could about him...and Janet Leigh...and never missed any of his movies. He was my dream boat. :)

I didn't know Jamie Lee was your dauhter-in-law! lol

    7. I remember reading that when Jamie Lee married C. Guest, she had Tony Curtis walk her down the aisle, but at some point, her step dad, who really raised her, took over and walked with her the rest of the way. By the way, should you ever want to know bits of info about stars, I'm your gal. Loved Janet Leigh too! She was discovered because someone saw her photo at her father's hotel. Course I could be mixing her up with someone else!☺

    8. Oh, Kay...I've been a movie and movie star fan from as far back as I can remember. I had boxes and boxes full of cuttings and Photoplay and Movietone magazines when I was a kid. I never missed a Saturday afternoon matinee...and often we went to the "pictures" as we referred to them back then once or twice during the week, as well. You and I could join forces and storm the trivia world when it comes to this subject! lol

  15. Gary Barlow is a very rich man. His singing band - Take That - has had no less than twelve number one hits in Great Britain. My son has met him on two or three occasions in relation to vegan cookery. Gary Barlow blotted his copybook a few years ago by signing up for a tax avoidance scheme - thereby stealing money from the public exchequer.

    1. Oh well, nobody's perfect. Too many people put folks on pedestals and worship them. Not me. I just like people and know that we are all flawed, all of us. I was surprised at how much Gary Barlow had accomplished in his life and yet, I had never heard of him.
Thanks for your comment, YP! I think that is what Meike calls you, or maybe it is Graham. I get things a bit mixed up these days. By the way, your blog name makes me hungry and wish for my mother-in-law's cooking.
