Bohemian Rhapsody Movie

If you have seen the trailer for the eagerly anticipated film "Bohemian Rhapsody", you will see Brian May having the other band members of Queen, to clap on the 3rd beat of "We Will Rock You".  If you want to read more about the background of that song, I have a link for you just here.  I found this fascinating!

There, if you have read the article, you will know why I long to attend a concert in England, so that I could sing along with the crowd. I would love to do that.

Also, from the trailer...I recognized two of the faces.

Roger Taylor is played by Ben Hardy (he used to be Peter Beale from "Eastenders", a TV Show that I used to watch from England.)

John Deacon is played by Joseph Mazzello (Tim from Jurassic Park! You know, the young boy who loved the dino-SOWERS. Tickled me the way that the announcer said that in the background.)

I  already knew the actor playing Freddie Mercury, I really liked him in the "Night At The Museum" movies.

I am very good at faces but please do not ask me to remember names! I had to look up their real names, of course.

Wish I could show you a photo of Carnaby Street in London just now... oh wait, of course, you could see it on YouTube!  "Is this the real life, is this just fantasy?" with other song lyrics by Queen, in neon lights.

Not forgetting that there is a full moon tonight! (Not to confuse you but this past weekend when we were supposed to look at the moon as a global event, it wasn't full then but it is now.)

Stay tuned for more movie trivia AND moon gazing, my friends!

  1. The article was rather long for me to read right now in the morning, so I had to stop about half way through but will probably return to it tonight.
From the moment O.K. showed me the trailer, I wanted to see the movie! When my sister and I were about 13 and 12 years old, she was a big Queen fan, listening to their albums every afternoon in her room. At first, I did not like them much (I was still very much an ABBA girl then), but soon, I joined her in her room :-)

    1. You know how much I love songwriting and that link I gave you as a lot of detail behind just that one song! I like ABBA too! Have you ever seen the movie, "Muriel's Wedding"? It was set in Australia and has a lot to with ABBA's music. It is a comedy from years ago, but I just thought about it! :-)

  3. I'm a big Queen fan, did I tell you we got to see them in concert when we lived in Germany?

    1. You are so lucky! Richard and I were in England during the BandAid Concert, we didn't SEE them in concert but hey, it was even fun to be in the same country when that concert was going on! Richard saw Queen in concert in their very early days, in 1974!

    1. This looks like one of those movies that you need to see in a theater. I will try not to sing along!

  7. What surprises me is that it took them this long to make such a movie.

  9. Rami Malek who plays Freddie in the movie was also in "The Gilmore Girls" and "Mr. Robot", among many others. He's been a busy young man so far during his film/TV career.

More was being said about the movie on local TV here this morning...Oscar buzz being tossed about.

  10. One film I'll give a miss as I know the band and subject too well. Bought their first album way back in the mists of time and liked it. Good frontman but never liked the way they developed musically after B.R. Too stadium rock orientated for me to get into much.

    1. Oh come on, you know you want to see this film too! Richard saw Queen in concert in 1974! When I was writing to him, he told me about Queen and I had never heard of them! The next year, 1975, I had the album "A Night At The Opera". Such a great album, and so different from anything in America at that time! Stadium rock? You should listen to the song "39", that sounds like folk music to me.

  11. Hi Kay - such a great movie ... when I get to see it - I am looking forward to it. There's so much interesting stuff about those early guys with their music, poetry and ability to create ... I'm sure we'll see lots of it over the coming months and years ahead ... all the bad boys are now 'good ones' as far as we're all concerned -they were way ahead of their times ... cheers Hilary

  12. WOW...what an awesome picture of the moon. It's perfect. Like the song, but don't know enough about music to enjoy the talk about it, much like sports wrap.........Just watch and enjoy is my method.

    1. Thanks Sandy! I had a photo of the moon on my last post too! I love it but hard for me to take a photo of it, I am a bit shaky! Music and sports! I love them both, not an expert on either one but that doesn't stop me from extolling about them.☺

  13. I can't wait to see "Bohemian Rhapsody"! I am going next Saturday. Queen's music is so brilliant. I love the classical influences. I am especially anxious to learn more about his life. Dave Gantt

    1. David! Lovely to see your comment here! Of course, you would understand all the classical influences since you are so musically gifted yourself and knowledgeable about great classical music. I have read some reviews of the film and while they give great praise to the actor playing Freddie Mercury they also say he was a much more complex personality that can be brought to life in just a movie. Still, perhaps young folks might even be persuaded to sing in tune after seeing the movie!☺

  14. My problem is the guy who plays Freddie. I am not sure I can see him as Freddie how was he?

    1. If you watch him in the trailer, you might think it is footage of Freddie Mercury, astounding acting, if you ask me.

    1. I hope that David will enjoy it! It's hard for me to go to the movies these days, people are not as serious as I am about films! For lots of films, I can wait until they go on DVD, but this one, it looks like it needs to be on a big screen and with a like minded crowd.
