O Sole Mio / It's Now Or Never

Hello, my friends!  Do you ever look at your blog and notice what people type to get to your blog?  Today, mine said, "Georgia guys sing 'O Sole Mio' ".  Now, I don't know who they could be but it made me type that in, and I found these young men from a 2011 episode of American Idol.  Il Volo (the flight in Italian) is a trio of male singers: Piero Barone, Ignazio Boshetto and Gianluca Ginoble.
Since then, they have become quite famous and their albums have gone platinum!  Good thing someone typed that into a search engine, otherwise I might never have heard of them!

(Can't help but think of Joan, my mother-in-law who just passed away. She would have loved this young men, calling them "gorgeous", I am sure.)

For anyone who is a regular reader of my blog and you have paid extra careful attention...I have mentioned the song "O Sole Mio" before... it is the very same tune as the Elvis Presley song, "It's Now or Never"!  It is, I promise!

  1. Oh wow, these boys CAN sing! The middle one is quite a looker - and he knows it... ;-) By the way, my first husband (who was from Sicily) would have looked quite like him if it wasn't for a different hairdo ;-)

    1. Oh goodness me, I think they are all so good looking! (That is me, I am afraid, all men are gorgeous to me! I am terrible! HA!)
Do you know, since that year, the one that was slightly chubby, the one that looked so boyish, has slimmed down and he has a beard, I hardly recognized him!
Had you heard of them? I hadn't, so I was happy to find them!

  2. I have to admit that I have never looked to see what people type to get to my blog. I do, however, always enjoy a good voice.

    1. Oh Graham, you should look! If you look at you Stats, it will be under "traffic sources". I always like to look, sometimes, it makes me laugh. It once said, "does it get hot in Georgia", that was funny. The answer, by the way, is YES!

  4. It's astonishing how much talent there is out there (alongside none, of course). I think success is as much about turning up (first rule) and a big helping of luck too.

  5. I do love Elvis, but never realized It's Now or Never was the same tune as O Sole Mio ...or if I did, I forgot. Thanks for the info and the beautiful picture of the blooms at the end of your post. With spring bursting out all over, you could just imagine them singing...it's now or never !

  6. Just got caught up with your blog, so sorry to hear that your Mother-in-law had passed away. Ninety is a wonderful age, but still so hard to say good by.

    1. Oh thank you, my friend! And we were lucky too, as her health was very good until just recently. Hope YOU are doing well with your treatment and taking good care of yourself.

  7. So many songs we like have "borrowed" the tune of another song. Love Me Tender for instance is to the tune of Aura Lee. Even our National Anthem is a borrowed melody.

    1. OH yes! The Star Spangled Banner was an English drinking song! But hey, it is good one! A good tune is a good tune.

  9. I discovered El Divo at least 12 or 13 years ago and fell in love immediately! I have their CDs and their Christmas ones are fantastic. Have always loved what Elvis did with most of his songs! xo Diana

    1. Um, I just looked up EL Divo and they are from England, maybe they are very similar but this trio is from Italy. They also did a Christmas album which I am very interested in for Christmas! You know I love Elvis! xx

  10. Oh yes, one of my favourite Elvis songs, which I loved back in the 60s. I saw all his movies - they seem so quaint and old-fashioned now :)

    1. OH, I loved his movies! (I saw them all, I think when I was a kid!) One thing, you could always tell that he loved children in those films, don't know if anyone else noticed this but I always did. I loved that about him.
