Blooming Diamorpha - Arabia Mountain |
Do you remember the song "The Living Years"? A very powerful and moving song, it was a big hit in 1989, and it was by Mike and the Mechanics. The lead singer was Paul Carrack. I just found out that he was also the singer who sang the Squeeze song "Tempted". Wow, what a great singer he is and a very underrated one. What, you are saying, you don't know either of those songs? Well, I am about to help you out with that! And even if you know them, I found some good examples of these on YouTube for you. The first one is Paul Carrack playing the piano and singing "The Living Years".
Thank you for reading my blog. I appreciate you! Here's a rose for you.
Oh my gosh, I put up Living Years on the blog once. I can't hear it without tears.
ReplyDeleteGood songs do that to me!
DeleteThanks for your comment, Nan! So happy to see your goat picture here! (Not that you are a goat, you know what I mean!!)
Whoa, I am sorely questioning my great musical knowledge right now. For I had no idea who actually did "Tempted," and that song has been almost everywhere for a long time! Oh, and I am right with Nan on The Living Years. For I wish had been grown up enough to appreciate my dad as much as I should have before he died.
ReplyDeleteHa! I am with you on your "great musical knowledge"!
DeleteI am finding out things all the time, that is one reason I love Youtube!!
And you know, it is my belief that we shouldn't be too regretful over things that we have left unsaid. We are only imperfect people and should forgive each other as well as ourselves. Having said that, this song is a powerful reminder that our loved ones won't be with us forever, so we should tell them we love them while we still have them. It's a great song.
I've always loved that song. Thank you for letting me hear it again. That is such a beautiful rose. Have a terrific week ahead, Kay.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay, glad you like it too!
DeleteAnd that rose was from my birthday, I am missing my birthday month of April!
Hope you have a great week too, my friend!
Ooh, thank you for the rose! Those flowers on the mountain are so pretty and unusual :)
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome!
DeleteAnd the starlike white flowers on the red diamorpha are just so pretty! They are almost past blooming and that is why I was excited and asked Richard to take the photo above, it is right on top of the mountain!
Thank you for the lovely rose! I am so pleased that all the roses will soon be coming out here in England, although we are still in a kind of spring mode, because the "real" spring was so cold that everything was held back! Do you have any more English trips planned?
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny!
DeleteOh, I love the English gardens so very much! You would be surprised to know that when I first saw England in the early 80's, I recognized many of the flowers from my Beatrix Potter books!! I love the roses in England, they are so huge!!
We don't have a trip planned just yet to England. I wish I could just twitch my nose and be there! Last year, it was very nice of the Queen to have such a celebration just for our visit!! (We were there during the Jubilee!)
Is the Blooming Diamorpha a painting or a photo? So beautiful! I never heard of the song or the group. Thanks for sharing both.
ReplyDeleteThe Diamorpha is a red plant and in the Spring, it has the most beautiful white flowers that bloom...and that is a photo that Richard just took this past Friday. It does look like a painting, doesn't it?
DeleteGlad you liked the songs too, you know I had to get up and dance to "Tempted"!
I love the song "The Living Years". The winner of X Factor Australia, Altiyan Childs sang it. What a rosy red rose!
ReplyDeleteHey, I just looked him up, I had never heard of him. So good that you can tell me of these singers from Down Under.
DeleteIt was very rosy!!
I knew "The Living Years", but not "Tempted". Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOkay now, I hope you danced around the room to that song like I did!!
DeleteA blast from my university years! I remember The Living Years but had forgotten about Tempted until this. I never knew it was the same singer though and I've actually seen Squeeze in concert - they were one of the support acts for the lovely Bryan Adams back in the very early 90s.
ReplyDeleteOh, you saw Squeeze in concert in the early 90's?! Oh, I bet they were good, I would like to see them now!!
DeleteStick with me kiddo, I only have good music on my blog!!
xx
That first photo is gorgeous, Kay! I would never have heard of the beauty of Arabia Mountain without you! Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteYou know, sometimes I don't know how good Richard's photos are until I put them on my blog. I think they are art!
DeleteThanks!
