See The Beauty and Romance of Spring

March 7, 2018

Do you look at the outline of bare trees and see the beauty?

The camellias are in full bloom just now.  I appreciate the beauty of the fallen flowers on the ground also.

We have had some very dark overcast days lately but today...it was one of those days...how can I describe it to you...it was incredibly beautiful, truly it was. Not a cloud in the sky and the temperature was in the mid 70's. May I say it was perfect? It was!
I saw my first butterfly today!  I looked it up to make sure that I wasn't dreaming...it was a Spring Azure and from my reading, it said that it is a tiny butterfly (it was) and that it is blue but when it lands, the underside of the wings are white, so therefore- it then looks white. It is very common in the USA and is one of the very first to emerge in the Spring and heralds the start of the season. Pleased to see it? You bet!

When we walk, we love to notice the early Spring wildflowers and it it is such a joy to spot them.

If you notice, the photos that I have shared with you today are from this date from the past three years. I didn't take any photos so I realized that I could just go back in time and show you these!

Romance.  If you look it up, it says this:

1- A feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.

2- A quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life. "The beauty and romance of the night".

So, there is the title of this post but rather, I am thinking of the new season upon us now.

"The beauty and romance of Spring."

What song for you? Why, there can only be one! "Romance".
I do hope that I can convince my dear husband to perform this one day on his guitar for you.  The video that I am sharing here sounds so very MUCH like Richard except...Richard is better. I promise.
It is a lovely song but can you believe it, no one really knows who actually wrote it.
Hope you love it as much as I do.

  1. How lovely for you to welcome Spring with a glimpse to the past, and the thought of a blue/white butterfly - it brings a smile to my face. The 2020 wildflower is really pretty, and a complete stranger to me. We love camellias, and people nearby to us grow them, but we have failed, and a total of about five camellias have not survived our garden. Oh dear. Back to a few more tree ferns.

    1. I wish I had camellias too! That is from the Monastery where we like to walk. I have been visiting there since the 1970's! We love ferns also!

    1. I was pleased to share this video if the song. Other versions were too slow, too fast,,,this one sounded just the right tempo, like the way Richard does it but there is just that little something that makes Richard's playing just that much better!

  3. Nothing like a sunny day in spring to lift the spirits, is there! I have not yet seen any butterflies, but would love to spot a blue one - they are rather rare in this part of the world.
It was sunny and beautiful all weekend, but rather cold, and we are hoping for the forecast rain to arrive this week; we really do need it, everything is very dry right now.

    1. That day I am describing to you, the air felt delicious on my skin, it was amazing! I saw on the weather that the air is dry with hardly any humidity, so that must be why! Hope you get some rain!

  5. My father was an artist as a hobby. One of his favorite subjects was winter trees. I see the character of a tree when it is at rest with no leaves.

  6. Dear Kay,

Yes, it does feel so good to welcome these first few shoots of Spring. With more blue skies than grey, the spirits are definitely lifting here in Budapest and, it seems, the same with you. Even the tiniest details this year are somehow so much more precious than they have seemed before. Perhaps we shall take less for granted from now on.

    1. So much more precious, yes that is true, even simple things we can be very grateful for.

  7. I enjoyed the Romanza video. It's amazing that no one knows who wrote it!
The leafless tree seems to be asleep, waiting for Spring.

    1. So glad you liked the tune! I love it, I always ask Richard to play the Spanish-ey song. I can never remember names or titles!!

    2. I have trouble with names and titles too. We have something in common.

    3. Yes but I never forget a face! I have a "thing" about faces but names and titles...I have to ask others or go to an Internet research page! :-)

  8. I hope Richard will play the song because it's beautiful and I want to hear his version of it. It might as well be spring.

    Love,

  9. Didn't realise your Spring matched ours so closely. It is indeed a wonderful time of year and it always brings hope this season as well, stronger than ever.

  10. We're now in autumn down this way. Summer is not going without a fight, though. I'll be glad when the cooler weather takes control and banishes the heat! Fortunately, though, our summer, overall, wasn't too bad, thank goodness.

Take good care...I hope all is well with you and yours, Kay. :)

    2. My little lemon tree is loaded with little lemons at present...I'm eagerly waiting on them to fatten up and turn lemon in colour, Kay! I'll have a good wish for you when I try my first one for this season! :)

    3. My lemons never did turn yellow! We only had 4 last year, maybe this year there will be more and they might even turn yellow! Also, I have a small lemon tree that I grew from the seed of an organic lemon. Very proud of that little tree!

    1. Thanks! I should have searched for better ones but as always, I never seem to have much time these days but then, I am getting older and more impatient, if that could be possible! (I mean the impatient part.)😳

  12. Your Spring comes much sooner than ours up here in Ohio. We've had lovely weather this week and today it was in the upper 60's. My daffodils are poking out of the ground and crocus has sprung up here and there too. I'll look forward to the return of butterflies! I think we have some chilly temps coming but I know it will even out soon. I've always loved Autumn and the photo of the tree without leaves reminds me of the many I've taken of the ones in our woods. I see the beauty in the bareness! Loved the video. My son plays guitar and I love hearing good guitar music. I'm sure your hubby is wonderful too! I hope he plays for us one day! Have a good rest of the week!
