Happy and Glorious!

Goodness me, I thought the Royal Wedding was lovely, didn't you?
In case you missed it or want to relive a few moments of it, I have the link below for you!

Highlights of Royal Wedding.

The weather was spectacular!  It so much could have been a different story!  Anyone remember the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012?
It poured with rain!

Anyway, I enjoyed every minute of this wedding today!  If anyone wants to "bash" the Royals or anything pertaining to this wedding, please would you just go away and leave me to this tiny moment of joy? Thank you!

Queen Elizabeth married Prince Phillip on Nov. 20, 1947.  I remember reading a quote from Winston Churchill about their wedding.  I can't find his exact words but I think he said that their Royal Wedding was like a bright light along this weary road of life.  The wedding today made me think of this.

Stand By Me!  I just bet that that song has never been sung inside the walls of St. George's Chapel!  Amazing, I loved it! (Look up Psalm 46, you will see that Ben E. King was influenced by those words, so the church setting is just right, I think.)  In fact, I loved all the music, didn't you?  (Ave Maria on that cello? Beautiful!)

Ox eye daisies!  There is a beautiful simplicity to daisies that I love.  And guess what, they are not native to America but were introduced here from Europe in the 1800's.  Just thought this might be a nice flower for this post.

Best wishes to Harry and Meghan, another English/American couple.  God bless them!

And our very best wishes also for our friends in England who also just got married, Henry and Sarah!    Sending our love to you across the pond!   Jolly Good!  (Give our love to Joy & Henry, we know they enjoyed the Royal Wedding immensely!)  xx

Joy and Henry are Henry's parents...and I have a photo of them from 2015.    Happy and glorious!

  1. It was a beautiful wedding. It was not as formal feeling as most royal weddings and I liked that.

    1. Yes, Harry is only 6th in line to the throne, so they let him relax things a bit! LOL!

  3. We spent most of the day at the allotment of OK's parents, first having coffee and strawberry cake, followed by a glass of champagne, and later a proper BBQ, all very nice food and drink. I don't even know yet what the dress looked like :-)
Oh, and I remember your 2015 posts with the pictures of your friends, wonderful people! All the best to them!

    1. The dress was gorgeous, think of something that Audrey Hepburn would wear and that is just about right!
I know you remember all of my photos, but I suspect you are the only one! :-)

  5. I watched some of it this morning. I hadn't planned to but I ran across the live streaming video and I figured...eh, why not. It was a beautiful wedding on a gorgeous day. Weddings always make me happy. They are such joyous occasions. And wishing your friends all the best, too! Congratulations to them.

    1. It is a most joyous time and one that we all should celebrate as much as possible! Thanks for the well wishes for Henry and Sarah! You would love them, Martha, they are vegetarians and work very hard on behalf of all animals.

  6. It was indeed a beautiful wedding! And the last Royal Wedding we'll see for a generation, until Prince George and his siblings are grown up.

    1. I know I heard that too and you know, I hadn't really thought about it but of course, it is true, another generation until we see a wedding like it!

    1. Funny you should mention smiles, I noticed how great Harry looked in the official photos from the wedding that were released today. He has such a happy smile in those pictures!
      The flowers were beautiful!

    1. Joy! It is so seldom that we seem to celebrate joy these days so this wedding was so welcome.

  9. Weddings are wonderful and all brides are beautiful, but this royal one was certainly exceptional. I wish them both a life of happiness, but also a life of friendship and accomplishment. And joy to your friends in England, too, and a happy life together!

  10. Everything about the wedding was perfect. And did you know the choir was in a recent episode of Call The Midwife?!! Thanks for the Bible ref for the song. I never knew that.

    1. Yes! They were the ones who sang at the church service that was in someone's home. They were great, of course!
Interesting background to the song, "Stand By Me". It was written by Ben E. King but with some help by Stoller and Lieber, one of them takes the credit for that bass line, which of course, is very memorable! How much do I love to read of the background of songs? You know I do!

    1. Oh, and I hope you looked at the photos of her veil also, it was exquisite. The veil had 51 flowers of the Commonwealth along with a flower that Meghan really liked at Kensington Palace and another one, the California poppy, since she is a California girl. Lovely!

  15. I enjoyed every minute of the Royal Wedding as I managed to skilfully avoid seeing any of it. A perfect day for me. I did like Cinderella though- the new film version that was on afterwards and was unexpectedly good. A lovely film.

I am just remembering a version of Cinderella on TV when I was a kid, I loved it. As an adult, I found out that the music was by Rodgers and Hammerstein. See, I had good taste even then!

  16. Hey, Kay, hope all is tickety-boo with you. To all those who made disparaging noises about Harry and Meghan's wedding, I say it's refreshing to have a good news story amongst all the death and sadness. As to the bigger picture, in days past, I would undoubtedly have been a supporter of Parliament against the King; but he was an absolutist monarch and we have evolved a constitutional solution that, for all its faults, works for us. And, quite frankly, it's hard to see what could replace it that would work as well - assuming you need a head of state, which I think we do. So I'm very happy to be a huge supporter of our 21st century Royal Family! Nice post, Kay!

  17. I do remember the Diamond Jubilee, and it was spectacular, despite the rain. But for Harry and Meghan the sun shone, and everything was totally wonderful. I enjoyed every minute of it, and am still reading the blogs etc. The cello was sooo lovely, and the pastel-hued choir singing Stand by Me were just gorgeous. A lovely post Kay.

  19. Good on you, Kay! I'm sick of the "knockers". It's too much of a pastime of too many these days.

As I said in my own post...I dislike cynicism and unnecessary nasty sarcasm.

I loved the wedding....the whole event from go to whoa...loved it and enjoyed it. :)

    1. And I know you enjoyed it too! So sad for anyone to lose a parent but to do so when you are in the public eye must be very, very difficult. I love both those boys, William and Harry! I know they are young men now, but they will always be boys to me!
