Christopher Robin- (Trailer)

A new movie about Winnie the Pooh!  It will be out on August 3rd!
Isn't that wonderful news?  Entitled "Christopher Robin", the story will be of Christopher Robin as an adult who has lost his imagination and Winnie the Pooh along with the the other friends from the Hundred Acre Wood must help him to find it again.  (I am sure that they will, don't you? Wink, wink!)

This looks absolutely adorable, doesn't it?  And you know that I want to watch this movie with my very own Christopher!

On a serious note...

We will have our Memorial Day on Monday here in America.
It is in honor of those who have died while serving in the Armed Forces.  I remember them.
My mother's first husband died in Korea.  His name was Roy Lee Hollifield.  He was only 24 years old.  One of my earliest memories is seeing the carefully folded American flag along with his Purple Heart.

    1. I grew up seeing that Purple Heart, knowing that he had given his life for this country.

  2. The story of Christopher Robin sounds a bit like the Peter Pan film with Robin Williams, where he is the adult Peter and has lost his ability to fly and travel to Neverland. I am sure you know that movie, too.

    1. OH yes! That movie was "Hook" and you know that was a favorite one of little Christopher's!

  3. Isn't it sad that in real life Christoper Robin didn't love the Pooh stories.

    1. After I typed this post, I thought I shouldn't have put these two thoughts together...this new Winnie the Pooh movie, and then, the memory of my mother's first husband but then, I thought, I would leave it just as it is. The man never got to have children and enjoy them, so for this post, I will have his memory along with a favorite of so many kids.

    2. I should proofread, I meant to write, "I am always sad....". I think the two thoughts together was not disturbing.

    3. Oh, I knew you meant to type "sad". You should never worry about typing something wrong, I do it all the time!
When I think of all those young men who gave their lives for this country and did not get to have families, it makes me very sad. I am reading a book now called "Indianapolis", which was mentioned in the movie "Jaws" if you remember. It is an advanced reading copy but it will be out in July. I recommend it.

  6. My grands will love that movie, I know. I have always loved Pooh Bear and his motley crew. lol

I was talking with someone the other day how odd it is that we say Happy Memorial Day when it is actually a "heavy" day to remember our lost loved ones and service people.

Have a wonderful, blessed Memorial Day weekend. xo Diana

    1. Your blog is wonderful! I know I have this English heart but you know, I have this "thing" for French also! I really do, ask my husband! Of course, I have similar "things" for Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Germany...you get the idea! Still, I took a bit of French in school and fell in love with the language and that is something that stays with you.

  8. Hi Kay - it does look like Disney's done a reasonable job of this ... so often it's turned out to be naff ... I saw Ashdown Forest - glimpse thereof ...

Yes we must all remember all members, animals, birds etc who serve us and help us keep our freedom.

Have a happy Memorial Day - cheers Hilary

    1. OH yes, I know where Ashdown Forest is too! I know what you mean about Disney, their movies lately have been disappointing.
Blessings to you in your neck of the woods!

  9. What a sweet movie! I'll look forward to seeing that one! I'm so glad we take this time to remember our heroes. I love going to the parade in our little town and to the cemetery for the speeches and to see all the beautiful flags put out by our Scout troops on the graves of those who served. Enjoy your weekend Kay!

  10. Twenty-four is far too young to die! Such a sacrifice for one's country! And your poor mother. I will think of Roy Lee. Take care, Kay!

    1. So very many of those who died in service to this country were very young. I am reading a book about the Indianapolis and many of those who died were still teenagers. I wish I would write a book about the Leopoldville, not too many know about that ship in World War II.

  12. Oddly I like my memories from childhood to be those memories and whilst this film is obviously slightly different it could alter my imagined concept of what's in my memory.

    1. Hello Jan! Thanks very much. I wish I could have written a better post for Memorial Day, one that expresses my heartfelt appreciation for those who have given all.

  14. Thanks for sharing that. It's so easy to think of Memorial Day as just a chance to chill and grill but we need to remember those who gave that "last full measure of devotion" as President Lincoln said. I'm liking your blog. Will stop by again.
