Zombies!

Hey!  Anybody want to see a really funny movie?  It is "Cockneys Vs Zombies" and it is hilarious! The Eastenders from London taking on the Zombies.  I loved it since it showed folks from a nursing home in a very positive way, albeit very silly!  Check it out, if you have the chance!
It is NOT for children!  There is bad language and lots of violence, so no children around while you watch it, okay?  A very nice touch, the song at the end is by Chas & Dave, the singers I have talked about before!  Okay, you Muppets, hope you enjoy!  (Now, why do they call people "muppets" in England? I have noticed this before on the TV shows from over there. Hmmm, I wonder if Jim Henson would approve?  I hope he wouldn't mind!)

Crochet! So fun to make things for people who appreciate them!  I made a warm cap for my nephew, Kyle and he said I could put his photo on here!  Thanks, Kyle for modeling for me!  Thrilled that you like your cap! His sister, Katy liked it so much, she asked me to make one for her too! And you know that I did (the same gray color but trimmed in pink!)
I made star ornaments for my Christmas tree too, that was fun. I can't remember where I got the pattern, but was quite happy crocheting these little bits for my tree... Wait, it was from Lucy from  Attic 24  If you crochet, you must look at her blog.  She shares the most wonderful patterns and well, she is an artist really, it shows in her photographs and her writing besides her most creative works of crochet.  (She blocked these out, which makes them more star-like, but I wasn't able to do it as well, so mine are more flower shaped.  Oh well, I like them anyway!)

My funny husband called an illness that we once had, the "Zombie" flu.  This was years ago, before the zombie craze that is going on TV and the movies.  I am getting better but wow, the energy level is way low, and I am moving like one of those slow zombies.  And we are having a very cold winter, even here in Georgia.  The low on Tuesday morning is supposed to be NINE degrees!!!  Man, talk about moving like a Zombie!  This weather won't help me much!  Stay warm everyone!   And let me know if you see that funny movie!  If you see other funny movies, let me know!  I am in need of a good laugh!

  3. Your so talented! I love the caps! My Mom crocheted but I never learned...maybe it's not too late! I have what we loving call "the creeping crud". I've been coughing and snoting around for a week. My energy level is down too. I hope you feel better soon and I also hope the weather gets better soon.

  5. Sorry to hear you are still not entirely over your flu. The cold certainly does not help. So far, we're still on that very mild spring-like weather. It does get cold at night (just below freezing point) but during the day it is warm enough to open the windows and let air and sun in. I know it won't last, so I am making the most of it.
Your crocheted flowers/stars could also be snow flakes, especially the white or light blue (?) ones.

    1. Yes! They are white and you are right, they do look like snowflakes, although, Lucy has a pattern for snowflakes and I made some of those too which I put on my tree!
I like the sound of the spring like weather. We will finally get above freezing tomorrow afternoon and I am READY for it! ;-)

    1. Ha, you are funny.
Please read the comment below about "muppet". What do you say? It seems that you only call someone that if you are close to them, does that sound about right?

    3. But you are not one of them sweetie!

  7. We call someone a muppet over here when you want to put them down.It means they are silly stupid, a bit of an idiot and so be careful to whom you say it!! It is a word I use only for myself - 'cos I often am!

Sorry you are still suffering from "the bug". The whole of the island here sounds like a dog kennel. Our weather doesn't help. We have had so much rain and high winds. Roll on Spring I say.

The little crocheted mat you sent to me, sits on my bedside table - ready for my first morning cup of coffee. You are very clever - I can hardly sew a button on straight!

Looking forward to reading more of your entertaining blogs in 2014 especially many more of your walks up (our) Stone Mountain. x

    1. It seems as if you don't call someone a muppet, unless you are close to them. So, could that mean that it is not really in insult, just a mild sort of put-down? Hey, I don't know, I am just observing and asking!
So happy that you like your little crocheted coaster/doily/thingie...whatever you want to call it!!! Little bits like that make me happy, like the little stars/snowflakes/flowers that I made!!
Oh! You give me hope for 2014, that Spring will come again and I will be able to walk up OUR mountain! Take care! Love Kay xx

    2. You had better believe it really is an insult. Politicians are quite often referred to as Muppets. Thinking about it though - sometimes it can be used with a smile when someone you like has done something daft. So I suppose you pays your money and takes your choice. x

    3. I think that I will consider it a good natured kind of put-down. Not really that bad and nothing that would cause anyone offense, just something to make someone smile maybe? :-)
Politicians? They deserve much harsher words!!

  16. Seen that film recently Kay. It's a novel take on the Zombie theme. If you are looking for good feel good films.... you did ask :0) 'Juno'(young girl expecting a baby) is warm and funny. 'Tamara Drewe'. is a British film set in Rural Dorset that's funny, unexpected, has great scenery and a great cast. The Straight Story- an American classic that's a real joy to watch and The Last Mimzy, Kids film but very clever, entertaining story. 'Dear Frankie'. Scottish film about a young deaf boy with beautiful Clyde Coast scenery and 'The Secret Life of Bees' Set in Georgia I think. and 'The Cider House Rules' If you haven't seen them they are all worth a look. No Chas and Dave in them though.

  17. Hi Kay

Good to hear that you are on the mend.

'Muppet' is a fairly good natured term and not a million miles away from 'plonker'. The derivation, I believe, is from the consideration that (the real) Muppets are incapable of autonomous action and need to be manipulated - by a second party and in a particular place - if they are to do anything.

We have a lot of muppets in the UK. Quite a few are politicians who are incapable of any action not sanctioned by their party leader.

    Kind regards

    Henry

    1. There, one of the most intelligent to comment on my blog and of course, you would know the definitive answer to the meaning of "muppet". You might not know this, but Jim Henson is a hero to me! I LOVE the muppets so therefore, I felt a bit...well, a bit sad that muppet was being used as an insult/put-down!
Henry, I hope you are doing well these days. Give our love to Sarah and to your sweet Mum & Dad. They sent us the most gorgeous Christmas card, most appreciated! Take care, you muppet! HA!

  18. Hi Kay

A friend of mine from Croydon days had his record collection stolen in the eighties. He reported it to the police who, quite reasonably, asked for details. The guy was somewhat obsessive and had lots of Abba, Beatles and Stones and ...... 'the complete Muppet collection'. The copper on the desk remarked that he wouldn't be surprised if my friend found some of the discs returned to him!

He was probably thinking of the mop tops.

The folks send their very best and their thanks for the Xmas letter.

    Henry
