There was a really good TV mini-series about the Temptations from 1998 that my son and I really enjoyed. He remembered it and bought it for me as a present on DVD. If you ever see it on TV, don't miss it!
I am so cold tonight, I am thinking of this song from "My Fair Lady"...
All I want is a room somewhere,
far away from the cold night air,
In one enormous chair, OH, wouldn't be loverly...
Lots of coal makin' lots of heat,
Lots of chocolate for me to eat.
WARM HANDS, WARM FACE, WARM FEET,
Oh, wouldn't it be loverly!!
I am wearing gloves typing this post for you. It will be 13 degrees FAHRENHEIT in Atlanta tomorrow morning. We are told that this cold air is really from the North Pole. As Mr. Spock would say from Star Trek, FASCINATING.
Stay warm everyone! Get up and dance to "Ain't Too Proud To Beg"!
Sunflowers from The Sunflower Festival- June 2013 |
Dancing is a sure way to get you warm, Kay! When RJ and I went dancing one or two Saturdays ago, I had been feeling cold nearly all day, except for while I was doing my usually Saturday morning cleaning round at my flat. By late afternoon I felt so chilled (in spite of central heating and warm clothes) that I did not much fancy the idea of going out at all. But we did go out, and we danced a lot, and had a great time, and I was nice and toasty!
ReplyDeleteThe sunflower picture is just what is needed right now :-)
I love the idea of you and RJ dancing. Nice to know that people get out and about!
DeleteI knew you would like the sunflowers! :-)
I do love the sunflowers at the end of your post. A warming thought for a cold day. Zero degrees here this morning.
ReplyDeleteZero degrees, okay that is cold!
DeleteGlad you like my sunflowers, that is one photo that I took, Richard wasn't with me!
Nothing wrong with singing and dancing to stay warm. We are at 2 degrees this morning. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteSinging and dancing to stay warm, I think I should promote that for the USA during this cold winter! Take care.
DeleteFunny what pops into ones mind. I have taken to wearing a wool hat in the house a couple of times this winter. And I hate hats.
ReplyDeleteGuess what, I have done the same thing and I also hate hats. When you have a head like a basketball, you tend to avoid them at all times and in all seasons!
DeleteAin't too proud to beg for some warmer weather, it was down to 21º here on the coast and I'm way too thin blooded for that kind of weather.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, you might even be seeing SNOW tomorrow! Good luck with that!
DeleteHa, ha, I think a lot of us have our own personal soundtrack in our head. I very often hear phrases or songs from TV and movies at the weirdest moments. Right now though my head is buzzing with Scottish songs for our Burns Night supper tomorrow - classic numbers like 'Ye canny shove yer granny off a bus'! (http://www.educationscotland.gov.uk/scotlandssongs/primary/yecannyshoveyergranny.asp). xx
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for that link! I looked it up, and it is sung to the same tune as "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain", which I know very well! How funny! I hope you all sang it at your Burns Night supper!
DeleteWe're having a hard freeze and freezing rain, too, so you have my sympathy. It's time to beg for spring!
ReplyDeleteHope you don't get any snow or ice tomorrow! Take care!
DeleteYour life truly has an ongoing soundtrack!
ReplyDeleteIt's true...I am GROOVY!! HA!
Delete13F? Bah! In Edinburgh we called that summer!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in England, I remember Scotland during the summer would sometimes make it to 20 degrees celsius, and I think England made it there for like, ONE MINUTE of that summer. It was the summer of 1985 and the day of the Band-Aid concert was the nicest day that year.
DeleteSounds positively balmy weather to me! We are having a mild but wet winter this year. 6c at the moment. I do so wish we were still using the measurements that I was taught as a child. I am still converting decimal money to pounds, shillings and pence - just to see what things "really"cost! Have a good and warm weekend. x Loved the picture of Eastbourne Pier. Roll on summer I say.
ReplyDeleteI see and hear the "old" money in English movies and books and I have to ask Richard to explain it to me!
DeleteYes! I thought you would recognize the pier! Wish I was there right now walking down it with the salty air blowing on my face!
Songs are a great way to get through the day, Kay, and we have music playing 24x7 in our home and even when traveling. We always sing along when in the car on a long road trip as well. Cold weather here too on the VA eastern shore and the 5 inches of snow this week is staying around awhile. As for more followers, while I read blogs and try to leave comments, it's not possible to do on a daily basis and while I don't specifically follow blogs, I do enjoy reading when I can. I have noticed that the folks who have so many comments seem to leave comments on so many others. Also, I do not participate in any of the memes. I am wondering if there are others who also do the same (or not)?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what has happened to me this year. I seem to just not have the time to read as much as I would like or else I am just not managing my time wisely. It's a little sad how happy it makes me when I see I have a new follower!
DeleteI do appreciate very much the people who take the time to read my blog, so I thank you sincerely.
5 inches of snow sounds nice but I think I will let YOU enjoy it. :-) Stay warm.
We're having a winter wonderland again in northeast Ohio. It's lovely for a short while, but gets old very very fast. The sunflowers lifted my spirits. I think I'll go play, "Summer time, and the livin' is easy", now.
ReplyDeleteOH good, I am happy that I put the sunflowers on this post then! Take care and enjoy the snowy view from inside your warm home!
DeleteI do so like that song!!! And, man, those sunflowers in that last photo are really something! Hope you're staying warm, Kay! XOXO
ReplyDeleteI am happy you like my sunflowers photo, I took that one!
DeleteIf you get any snow, make sure you build a snowman!
I'm almost to the begging point around these parts! I know it's January in Ohio and having snow and cold is normal...but seriously, 30 below is a bit much! Having such cold temps down south makes me nervous for the fruit crop. I hope it gets back to normal down there...my brother lives in Georgia and I know he wants it to warm up!
ReplyDelete30 below, I just cannot believe this winter in the USA.
DeleteIt was almost 60 degrees today and yet, they predict snow tomorrow with the high being 28 degrees! Crazy weather!
I know Chicago is at 0 degrees right now (Monday). School is cancelled so my granddaughter is at home. It's cool here in Hawaii, but I'm still wearing a t-shirt. I'm so sorry for all the freezing weather that is gripping the mainland. I wish I could send you some hot chocolate or at least some warm breezes.
ReplyDeleteAh, I will take those warm Hawaiian breezes. Yes, that sounds very good right now! :-)
DeleteI'll beg if you pay me enough.....
ReplyDeletePay? Moi? HA!
