Chris De Burgh/Footsteps 2

Did anyone listen to the song by Chris De Burgh that I had on my post about my apple pie served under the moonlight? Chris De Burgh is a fascinating artist and musician, you might know his biggest hit,  "Lady In Red".  I first learned of him from the song "A Spaceman Came Traveling".  He has always been a big favorite in our household.  Richard saw him in the very early days of his career when he opened for Supertramp in 1974. You may read more about him here.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_de_Burgh He is a wonderful artist but until my post when I was looking for that song, I didn't know that he has had a new CD out since October of 2011!  Four are his own songs, all the others are songs that are "real favorites" of his.  Now, he didn't call me up and ask me which songs I would like for him to have on this CD, but he might as well have done since all these songs are so familiar and dear to me...

 His new CD is called Footsteps 2 and his website is here  www.cdeb.com   Oh, Happy Days!  I was able to find this video for you, it is over 6 minutes long, but it is so good!  It was filmed in Cologne, Germany and shows the Cathedral and the bridge with all the lovelocks upon it with a special gift to Chris De Burgh from his fans.  Let me know if you find this as interesting and wonderful as I do.

  1. While You See A Chance
  2. Let It Be
  3. The Living Years
  4. Blue Bayou
  5. SOS
  6. Seven Bridges
  7. Lady Madonna
  1. Time In A Bottle
  2. Already There
  3. In The Ghetto
  4. Long Train Running
  5. On A Christmas Night
  6. Every Step Of The Way
  7. Footsteps 2 Theme

Here is the track listing for this album.  And I must tell you, that song that is "Long Train Running", it is more well known by just a few words rather than the title which reminds me of this story.  In high school, our principal scolded students for kissing in the hallway, and the next morning someone had posted a huge sign on the roof over the principal's office with these words...
 "Without Love, Where Would You Be Now."

Gluten Free Apple Pie A La Moon

If I ever make anything to eat that is really, really good, something I would serve to company...I need to tell you about it.   I made this as soon as I came home from work today, so that Richard would have this wonderful cinnamony apple smell greet him when he walked in the door.

 Wait...why did I call this gluten free apple pie a la moon?  Because we enjoyed it under a beautiful moon, of course.  And you know my Richard took photos for you!

Did you see this beautiful moon?   We are all under the same moon, the same sun...Hope you enjoy this song by Chris De Burgh.

Richard's Photos-4th of April, 2012

Richard started taking photos yesterday, beginning with a beautiful sunrise and ended with moonlight through the pines!

I have already showed you a photo of our tufted tifmouse taking a bath.  It looks likes either he or his mate came back to pose again!
The other bird photo is of a red-headed woodpecker and Richard was happy to see him since it has been a while since we have seen this bird. (It was taken with the zoom lens, and so Richard says the quality isn't perfect and the bird is hiding behind the branch a bit!)  All these photos were taken either in our front or our back yard and I love the photos of the flowers.  All by the master gardener himself, Richard!  (Reader, I married him.)
Loved the post of everyone telling me about clowns yesterday!  Thanks for all the comments.  It reminded me of a song. "Stuck In The Middle With You" by Gerry Rafferty.  Do you know it? It was a big hit in the 70's.  I didn't know this until I looked it up yesterday, but he wrote it after meeting with record company execs which makes sense when you listen to the words.  "Jokers to the left of me, clowns to the right, here I am , stuck in the middle with you."  I found the song on Youtube and the video has good sound but is slightly disturbing to me, but hey, that's just me...maybe this could have started our dislike of clowns and women with big fat red lips!  Also, when this song was a hit, it was when he was in the group called Stealers Wheel.

Hope everyone is happy observing all the awakening life around them this week.  Let's see all your Spring photos!

Some Clown

Clown STO...Yesterday, I had to spell out a name over the phone at work and said this, "C" as in...and for some reason, I thought of clowns and how you really don't see them much anymore.  My question for you is this:  why is that?  What has happened that clowns are no longer popular?  It can't be all the fault of Prince Charles (see the photo above!)

Oh, and my pause on the phone for the letter "C", as I was thinking over the loss of clowns?  The person next to me said, "Cat, Kay, C as in CAT"....   You really should feel sorry for the people who have every worked with me or known me in any way.   You really, really should!

When Penguins Fly

 This really should have been my post for April 1st since this was from the first day of April in 2008 from the BBC.   Richard recognizes the iceberg from Planet Earth which I hope everyone has seen!

The documentary by Sir Richard Attenborough that is, I hope all of you are familiar with Earth and with the birds that might be in your own backyard like these, perhaps.

The little grey bird is a tufted titmouse and the bird with the bright orange beak is a female cardinal, or Mrs. C. as Richard calls her!
At this time of the year, the male cardinal (the very bright red one) will FEED the female...I saw this just yesterday and ran to get the camera, but alas, the male had flown away and it was another missed photo opportunity.  In North America, the cardinal is very common.  When my in-laws visited from England, they were very excited at their first sight of a cardinal.  It is such a beautiful bird, right in my backyard of Planet Earth!
UPDATE:   I didn't take this photo but I found one for you!...Beak to beak! Happy Spring to all!

God Can Use You Poem

God Can Use You

The next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember...
Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Sampson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer...
AND Lazarus was dead!

I wish I could say that I had written this, but I did not.  It did take me a while to find it though, since the last line was all I could remember of it.

Palm Sunday/My Song Is Love Unknown

Beautiful service today at my church, St. Simon's Episcopal Church.   Father Dan said that with our procession into the church with the Palm fronds,  the Bible readings, and the beautiful hymns that he felt that the sermon had already been given.  He quoted from the last hymn that we would sing today...My Song Is Love Unknown and I found a beautiful clip from Youtube that is from England.  To be honest, our choir and the choir director/organist really are so wonderful, I wish I could have a video of them on here for you.  This choir on Youtube didn't do all the verses so I have all the verses printed at the bottom of my post.  I can never sing that last verse without crying.  Even Father Dan became choked up with emotion when he was quoting from this song, it was even more moving with this beautiful melody...

My song is love unknown,
My Savior’s love to me;
Love to the loveless shown,
That they might lovely be.
O who am I, that for my sake
My Lord should take, frail flesh and die?

He came from His blest throne
Salvation to bestow;
But men made strange, and none
The longed for Christ would know:
But O! my Friend, my Friend indeed,
Who at my need His life did spend.

Sometimes they strew His way,
And His sweet praises sing;
Resounding all the day
Hosannas to their King:
Then “Crucify!” is all their breath,
And for His death they thirst and cry.

Why, what hath my Lord done?
What makes this rage and spite?
He made the lame to run,
He gave the blind their sight,
Sweet injuries! Yet they at these
Themselves displease, and ’gainst Him rise.

They rise and needs will have
My dear Lord made away;
A murderer they saved,
The Prince of life they slay,
Yet cheerful He to suffering goes,
That He His foes from thence might free

.
In life, no house, no home
My Lord on earth might have;
In death no friendly tomb
But what a stranger gave.
What may I say? Heav’n was His home;
But mine the tomb wherein He lay.

Here might I stay and sing,
No story so divine;
Never was love, dear King!
Never was grief like Thine.
This is my Friend, in Whose sweet praise
I all my days could gladly spend.
