White or Bright?

Our Christmas tree! Do you like it with white lights or with colored lights? I only have to push a button and it will go from one to the other! (I can push another button and they will flash from white to colored but I don't like flashing lights on a Christmas tree, so that's not going to happen!) My ornaments on this tree are mostly snowflakes and stars and some little crocheted circles that I made myself along with some things that my son made as a child. (Can you spot "Joseph's Coat of Many Colors" along with "Jacob's ladder"?)  Now, the crocheted circles are ones that I made this year. I was going to try to make little round ornaments, but I really didn't have much time, so I thought I would just crochet just enough and leave the back "open" so to speak. (After all, you only see the front!) Here's the thing though, when I turned my little white crocheted circles around, they looked very much like TOILET BOWLS! HA!) It made me laugh!

Here is the circle ornament on the tree...

And here is me an old lady turning it around for you...

Now, I am sure you must be saying, "Why don't you just keep going and close it up and then it wouldn't be like a toilet bowl?" Well, I suppose I could but then, it wouldn't be funny, would it? I think I like looking at it, all sweet and round from the front and then, I turn it around and it looks like a gleaming white toilet!  I am easily amused!

Okay then, tell me if you like the white lights or the colored lights?

Richard prefers the colored and I like the white. When I am home first, I turn on the colored lights for him.  When he is home first, the turns the white lights on for me! Honestly, I like them both but the white is just very calming to me with all the white crocheted pieces on the tree....

Stay tuned, my next post will JUST as fascinating, I promise! LOL!!!

These three little trees are real ones on our front steps. They look really good when it is very dark.  Hey! Kinda like me! HA HA!

And just to let you know that I am still noticing things in nature...on my way home from work today, I looked up in the sky and saw a black vulture flying over and his (her?) wings were perfectly in front of the moon. A black vulture has wings with white tips and that bright white was the same white as the moon... See, I enjoy color but a very bright white is beautiful too.

  1. I like both kinds of lights! It's nice that you can alternate, depending on your mood and taste. Love the toilet bowls too!

    1. I really like them both too but I must be needing some calmness in my life just now and the white is very peaceful and serene looking. HA! Toilet bowls, my Dad would have laughed with me, I know.

  2. How sweet that you turn each other's favourite lights on before the other comes home! I prefer the white ones, but the tree in all its colourful splendour looks good, too. As long as it isn't flashing :-D
Toilet bowls on the Christmas tree? While I don't really think your ornaments look like toilet bowls (too round and fluffy for that!), I love your sense of humour - and I know your Dad would have chuckled along with you if you had told him about them on the phone.
We don't get vultures here, and I don't think I have ever seen a bird fly across the moon, but I love seeing herons fly.

    1. Oh, you are so very right about my Dad! He really would have been tickled. I sure do miss laughing about things with my DAD!
And crochet work, you see, if they are not looking exactly right, you have to kind of SHAPE them into the form that you are going for...that is what I have to do anyway. They did look just like toilet bowls when I first put them on the tree, so I had to pinch them a bit and MOLD them so that didn't look that way! HA! I am such a nut!!
OH! And the big black vulture with the snow white tips on the wings, that was special because we have two kinds of vultures, one has the white tips, the other one does not. How nice I saw the one with the white tipped wings flying with the moon behind it!

  3. Those lights are so pretty either colourful or white and I love that you can change them at the flick of a switch.

    1. Yes! My son and I just got the tree on the day after Thanksgiving and we had no idea that the lights changed color like that! It was a nice surprise!

  4. And, how many glasses of wine did you have before writing this dissertation on lights and toilet bowls? Since you asked for our opinion, I like the white lights. Wouldn't have noticed the toilet bowl ornaments until you mentioned it. They're beautiful and soft when hung correctly. Sideways, they look like bedpans, or a cute little coat for a chestnut to hide in. Nope, no wine in me for this conclusion. The outdoor little trees seem to look nice in the colorized lights. Have fun! Linda in Kansas

And I do like both really, white and bright!
      Have fun in Kansas!

  6. Truthfully, I like both. All Christmas trees look Merry and Bright to me. It makes no difference what color they are. Enjoy those lights to the fullest. This wonderful time of year only comes once a year. We need to make the most of what we have !

  7. I prefer the all white. I always use all white on my tree. I feel like you see the ornaments better with all white. Though it was a bit of a chore this year. As I unraveled the strings of lite and plugged them in...before putting them on the tree I discovered half of them didn't work or only have the string worked. So, plan B was all green which I had on hand. But, as put them up...realized I didn't have enough strings. Hubby went out to buy all green, since they were already on the tree; but after checking 3 stores.....No luck. So came home with what he thought were going to be enough of white. But they weren't enough and then he discovered a little shaking and a thing that clicks and can repair lights did the trick. So...the job got done, just took more work than normal.

Had to laugh about your toilet bowls. Our tree is old fashion with each ornament having a story of some sort behind it.

    Stay well.

    1. I love Christmas trees, don't you? And I chuckled at your description of getting yours together, you got there in the end!
And ornaments that mean something to you, they are the best.
      Wishing you a happy Christmas!

  9. You do have a good sense of humor! Love the toilet bowl! Ha! I prefer colored lights as does Jack so that makes it easy when decorating. We have garland all over that also has colored lights. It's cool that you can change your tree lights and so sweet you make sure to go back and forth for each other when lighting the tree! I heard that Chipmunk song this afternoon! Always makes me laugh! When we were driving to Chicago we had an eagle fly right in front of the car. I wish I could have caught that on camera! Have a good week!

    1. You know, the Chipmunk song is really a lovely waltz. You can sing it yourself in a normal voice and it is really pretty! Try it! Lucky you to see an eagle in flight! We see hawks here fairly often and they are magnificent!

  10. So funny re the white crotchet balls, he he. I prefer white lights on the Tree, like you, and also do not like them flashing. I got rid of the coloured flashing lights imposed on me by the family years ago, and now have a long string of tiny white modern lights on the tree. So Mother won this little family battle :)

    1. I have always liked the colored ones before but this year...give me some calming white lights that somehow make me think of freshly fallen snow... I do think I am needing peace in my life. Peace to you, my friend!

  11. Oh goodness! Both lights are beautiful! I love that you have the option to choose, I may need to look into this for our tree. The colored lights do remind me of my childhood, but right now we have white lights on our tree. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

    1. The lights came on the tree which we just bought this year.
I wanted a new tree but they were so expensive!! We got this one at Home Depot on Black Friday and you wouldn't believe it, it only cost $38.98! I thought it might be really tacky but I think it looks fine, especially at that price! Now, don't tell anyone how much my tree cost, people might think I'm cheap. LOL.
