The Beer Connoisseur

Chris Guest's photo.

Hey Guys!  Does anybody remember me telling you that our son, Christopher writes for the Beer Connoisseur Magazine?  He is a wonderful writer, good thing he takes after his DAD!

If anyone is interested in subscribing to the magazine along with becoming a member of the Beer Connoisseur Club, I have a link for you here.     And if you would like to read one of the fascinating and extremely well written articles by Christopher, I have a link to one of them, String Cheese, Jam Bands and Homebrews.

Christopher will be a groomsman in a wedding for one of his good friends this month.  Richard and I will also attend.  I have the gift for the wedding couple, it is from their Registry, a nice four quart saucepan.  Wait, it's heavy...wouldn't it be nice if I could crochet some soft white kitchen towels to cushion this heavy saucepan in the gift bag?  And then, what if I crocheted some white and pink hearts as a decoration on the bag?  Not much time left before the wedding....will I get this done?  Time will tell!

Thanks again, my friends, for sticking with me!  Life gets a bit hectic at times and I know it is the same for everyone just now.
I appreciate you more than you could ever know.  I raise my glass to you all!
                               Cheers!

Our son grew up with the music of Chas & Dave.  I should think "The Sideboard Song" will be the song for this post.
Yes, I think it fits perfectly!
"Got my beer in the sideboard here,
let Muvver sort it out if he comes round here".

  1. Your son is so handsome, Kay and he must get his writing talent from both of his parents.

  2. Of course I remember you telling us about Christopher writing for this magazine. I raise my glass (or, rather, my coffee mug) to this creative family: Christopher, musician and writer; Richard, photographer and probably a lot more; and last but not least Kay, blogger, crocheteer (I have just made up that word, no idea what you call a person who crochets...!) and baker! Here's to you!

    1. And baker! Ha, I think my oven is laughing even laughing just now!!
Oh yes, my husband and son are both so very talented and they really are very much alike. They both are musicians and songwriters!
And I appreciate the toast back to me, Meike, thank you! :-)

  3. So! The men in your life are a pair of drunks?
    How terribly English!

    1. Ha!
No, no...everything in MODERATION, my dear fellow. Please note the magazine is Beer Connoisseur NOT Beer SWILLER. (This is a direct quote from my funny English husband.)
Besides, you would like to hear that Richard will buy whiskey for me in the winter when I am sick with a bad cough, and it MUST be Scotch whisky.
(You can tell from this I am not much a drinker!)

  4. I think I've heard of that club. I didn't know your son was a writer for it. That's pretty awesome. Enjoy the wedding. Hopefully you get that fanciful stuff made in time.

    1. Our son is not only a magazine writer, he is a songwriter too! I will let you know of all the great things that he will do!
I hope I get my bits and bobs all finished before the wedding, I am trying my best!

  5. I'm impressed. And what are his views on real ale? I'm looking forward to a pint of Speckled Hen this evening, myself. Loved the Chas 'n' Dave clip - bet some of your non-English fans don't get the banter though. Cheers!

    1. I am not sure, I will have to ask him about his views on real ale!
I am remembering Speckled Hen, one of my husband's friends used to order it when we visited pubs with him. (I always have orange squash myself!)
I am so glad you liked the Chas & Dave video! We love them! Cheers!

    1. Wish me luck on finishing the gift. I often work quite hard on things to go with the main gift. I wonder if anyone notices! :-)

    1. I like to drink wine in England with a nice home cooked meal by Richard's parents. Richards Dad is a wine connoisseur! Well, I think so anyway!

  8. I'm not a beer drinker, but my hubby is, I am sure that he would love to chat to your son about beer! Hope that the newly weds love your present and that you can crochet some things to go with it if time allows - because I would love to see your crochet!!! xx

    1. I will try to make a photo of my crochet pieces, they will only be just small pieces to cushion the heavy saucepan but I hope they will look okay!

  9. It is good to hear that your son is still doing so well. It makes Mom happy to know that her child is happy.

  10. Interesting article from your son. Hardly recognized one half of Chas and Dave in that video. Short haired and clean shaven he looks like Jimmy White. (UK snooker player) I remember when dark sideboards held the alcohol in houses before high level drinks cabinets came in and put the drinks beyond the reach of children :o( I liked Baby cham and Bristol Cream best when young.

    1. Thanks for reading the article! Dave lost his wife a few years ago and stopped performing for a while . He is back performing with Chas now.
You are lucky, you could possibly see them in concert! Wish I could, I really like them.

  11. It's easy to see why you're so proud of your son. I always love it when the children of friends do well for themselves. It's a true reflection on the way they were brought up and credit is due to their parents. :)

    1. Hey Lee!
We are proud of him. He was the sweetest, brightest little boy and now as man, that has not changed! He had an English gentleman as a father and a country Georgia redneck for a Mom which must have been confusing for him, but it worked out fine, I think!
