The Civil Wars

C. At Stone Mountain, Georgia.

One week from tonight, Richard and I will be seeing our son, Christopher perform with his band, The 7's at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta!   I just spoke with him tonight and he is full of confidence and looking forward to it with great anticipation. What about me? I am the one who is nervous! Go figure!

Hey, anybody remember the post where I told you that I went to see Dusty at Eddie's Attic in Decatur? The band whose video was on that post was "The Civil Wars" and I just read that they have  released a new album.  That is good news. The bad news is that they have split up and are not even speaking to each other! Also, the second time they ever performed together, they released that as a free album to download, and it was "LIVE FROM EDDIE'S ATTIC".    In other words, I could have seen them at Eddie's Attic!  Oh well.  Also, they did the National Anthem at a Braves Game in April of last year and then sang songs at Turner Field before the game.  I could have seen them in Atlanta!  This song that I found by them, "20 Years", is one that I keep humming.  I really like it.

Hopefully, the name of our son's band will bring him luck, "The 7's".  (It is meant to mean a 7th chord,  if you know anything about music.  Don't ask me, I only know this is what is meant by the name.)

C. at Beachy Head in Eastbourne, England!

The name of a band might not seem that important but maybe it is.  I am thinking that a band name of  "The Civil Wars" was bound to end up in division and hard feelings.  Such a shame, I love the blend of the two voices together...

  5. Too bad about The Civil Wars breakup, perhaps a change of name could have helped. Hope your son's gig goes well. You are a proud mom for sure, Kay.

    1. I know, it seems the name of that band was just asking for trouble, if you ask me.
Thanks very much for your well wishes. Every mother thinks her child is the best, mine really is!!

    1. You must have good taste in music since you like this too!The woman in the duo, Joy Williams, I think is her name, had a baby last year, so she will be busy with a little one for a while. Perhaps when her child is older, they will get back together, here's hoping!
      Thanks for your well wishes!

That doesn't stop me from being nervous, has nothing to do with him! :-)

    1. Hey Debra!
So happy that you liked that music too! I liked your posts about Stoney Creek so much, so I read quite a bit more about it from different sites and when I found the Stoney Creek song, I knew I had to tell you!
I am an amazing researcher? Thank you! I spend a LOT of time looking things up that I find on interesting blogs, like YOURS!

  10. Too bad about the Civil Wars break up...he looks like Johnny Depp...not that that has anything to do with anything! Good luck to your son, I'm sure it will be wonderful! Looking forward to hearing all about it!

    1. If you read any of the comments on Youtube, almost all of them say how much he looks like Johnny Depp, and I agree, it is uncanny! I wonder what it is like to look like a film star who is so well known?
Now, I thank you very much for your well wishes. You know I will tell you all about it!! xx

  11. I really like listening to them, but a little goes a long way with me. For I have yet to hear a distinctively different song from them. In other words, they are all just slight variations of the same basic style, which would make for an awfully long concert unless one could not get enough of the opening song.

    1. I understand what you mean. I can admire certain songs by artists but that doesn't mean I have all their albums or have a shrine to them or anything. I felt quite dismayed to find out that I could have heard The Civil Wars in Atlanta and missed them! These days, if there is a duo or group who actually sing on key and in harmony, it is cause for great celebration. You do not want to know how selective I am about music! Or anything else, for that matter!!
P.S. Look for their song on Youtube where they sang at the Braves Game, the National Anthem, it was good.
