Kreativ Blogger Award

Goodness, time gets away from me.  Debra from www.shewhoseeks.blogspot.com  gave me a Kreativ Blogger Award at the end of July.  Sorry it takes me so long to get my thoughts together!  Thank you very much, Debra, I am pleased that you thought of me, since I am not especially creative but I will accept the award anyway.  (Insert sheepish grin here.)

I looked this up since I wondered at the spelling of "Kreativ".  It was started by a woman from Norway and her name is Hulda and I found her blog: www.huldals.blogspot.com  It is in Norwegian but there is a button to the side that translates it into different languages.  Didn't you fall in love with Norway during the 1994 Winter Olympics?  I did. I had already thought it was wonderful from reading books by Roald Dahl.  Although he was born in Wales and brought up in England, his parents were from Norway and he spent his summers there.  He wrote about this in his book: "Boy, Tales of Childhood".  Now, he wrote some very popular books but did you know that he also had a great deal to do with the recovery of his wife, Patricia Neal, after she had had a stroke?  In fact, many of the methods that he devised are in use to this day.  He was quite the character and he had many tragedies and triumphs. Here is a link to a very long article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/biographyandmemoirreviews/7930233/Roald-Dahls-darkest-hour.html

Goodness me again,  but I had to mention the woman who started this and also a few words about Norway and why I know anything at all about it!  When Hulda from Norway started this award it really looked like this:

But then, someone along the way, changed it to look like this:

By accepting the award, you are asked to do the following:
1)  Thank the person who has nominated you.
2) Post a photo of the Award (and I have given you two!)
3) Share a few things about yourself, some say 4, some say 7.  I say do what you feel.
4) Choose 4 (or 7) bloggers and inform them they have been awarded the Kreativ Blogger Award.

There, I think that I have everything there for you and here are my bloggers for the Award:

1.  Silke at www.silkepowers.blogspot.com  Her blogname is Metamorphosis and she is a fantastic ARTIST and just such a creative soul that it is a joy to read her blog.
2. Kate from www.grannytaughtmetocrochet.blogspot.co.uk    Kate lives in England and she crochets beautifully besides having wonderful photography on her blog. Don't miss her post from Aug. 5th when she was at the Olympics!  If you read it, you will feel as if you were there!
3.  Mimi from www.messymimismeanderings.blogspot.com    Mimi is a lot like me,  she writes about many things on her blog and I always like to read what she has to say!
4. Martha from www.plowingthroughlife.blogspot.com Martha is from Canada and is a great writer, photographer, gardener and gentle observer of mankind.

There, if any of you don't "do" awards on your blog, that is perfectly fine with me.  Just to say I love all of your blogs and thought of you.  And I have two other awards also!  YAY!  So, I will accept those and pass those along too, so if you didn't get this award, look out for my future posts!

Okay, here are four things about boring old me:

1)  I love pretty clothes but I hate to shop.
2)  I love to eat good food but I hate to cook.
3) I love music but I can't play an instrument.
4)  I can't whistle but I can sing (well, I can carry a tune anyway).

  1. You hate to cook? Well ---- How about if you got the receipe for Victoria Sponge? It would remind you of England and your lovely family here and your family in Georgia would definitely love it and it is also very easy. If I can cook it every time and successfully then anyone can and I mean ANYONE!!

As for not being able to whistle - well ask John about Graham and him not being able to whistle?!

As for me - I would love to whistle - you know the sort - two fingers in a circle, placed on the lips and that wonderful ear splitting noise that comes out - but unfortunately not from me!! All I get is a gurgle and very wet fingers - I know - too much information!

    1. Oh, yes, I think I could look that recipe up, or maybe my mother-in-law could give me a recipe for it. And I know just how you feel about easy recipes, I have my miracle cookie (peanut butter) recipe on my blog and anyone could make those!
HA! Of course I can't do one of those earsplitting fingers in mouth whistle either, but then, there have always been lots of people around me who can! :-)

  2. Love the history of this blog award -- never knew it before! I am a very good whistler and learned how to do it when I was a little girl, much to the chagrin of my very Victorian grandma. Every time she heard me whistling, she would shake her finger at me and recite this little verse: "Whistling girls and crowing hens, both shall come to no good ends!"

    1. Dear Debra,
I thought that nice woman from Norway who started this award has a lovely blog, so if you get a chance, check it out!
Since I am not a whistler, I must come under the "crowing hens" category! :-)

  3. Well deserved, Kay! Roald Dahl's books are great - do you know "Uncle Oswald"?
By the way, Kreativ is spelled that way in German, too :-)

    1. Dear Meike,
Welcome back! I know you were working but I hope you had a good time too.
Oh yes, I think the "Uncle Oswald" book is one I actually sent to Richard during our years of writing letters to each other!
Oh, and thanks for telling me that Kreativ is spelled the same in German! You know that I just had to look that up didn't you, I notice that there are a lot of folks who get this award but it took me a few minutes before I found this background information.

  4. Congratulations, Kay. You definitely deserve this award. And I thank you so much for passing it on to me! I am so grateful -- and honoured. I will post it and talk about it as soon as I get a chance.

And you are far from being boring. Your blog is one of my favourites. I wish I could travel down south and meet some of my favourite bloggers, which includes you!

    1. Thank you! Lucky you. And if your Mrs. is not too busy she can shop for me anytime! (My husband does most of the grocery shopping for me, thank GOODNESS.)

  8. I am soooo late with this, dear Kay, but congratulations! Well deserved!! And thank you for passing it on to me. :) I loved the back story behind the award and I also really like Roald Dahl's books. I read many of them when I was in my teens - the adult stories he wrote.

Like you, I love nice clothes, but do NOT like to shop! I ldo like to cook though AND eat, as you well know... ;-)

    Love, Silke
