Hey!
Are y'all ready for Christmas? It's practically here!
"Last Christmas" by Wham was #1 last year in the UK and I just read on the BBC that it is #1 again this year! In 1984, it did not go to number one, it was number two. The song from Band Aid, "Do They Know It's Christmas" claimed the top spot that year.
Have I shared videos by Evan and James with you before? Here is a video of them with their cover of "Last Christmas".
Really do like this song! I think these young guys do a fantastic job! George Michael was a genius songwriter, It is sad that he is no longer with us, but his music is much appreciated.
Fun post, Kay! Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSame to you! Merry Christmas!
DeleteLast Christmas was my late husband‘s favourite Christmas song. I may have heard it too many times and prefer older songs such as Holly Jolly Christmas or The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, and of course the really old Christmas carols that have been passed down to us for generations and through centuries.
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty bird!
Have a wonderful and merry Christmas, too!
Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas!
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family. As you might have guessed there are way too many Christmas songs for me to have a favorite. This year I am obsessed with Mamacita Donde Esta Santa Claus.
ReplyDeleteI love so many songs at Christmas! I cannot pick a favorite! Merry Christmas!
DeleteKay, hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay! Same to you and your family. Merry Christmas.
DeleteMerry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Like the umbrellas and the bird photo Kay. It might have been a derogatory Keir Starmer UK PM song about freezing pensioners as the Christmas Number One if the BBC hadn't banned it. Spoilsports :o)
ReplyDeleteHey! Merry Christmas! I looked it up and saw that number 2 on your charts is a song by Gracie Abrams. It's horrid! Honestly, just can't understand what passes for music these days!!
DeleteHi Kay, Your right. That song is poor. The one I was talking about was a reworked version of It Will be Lonely This Christmas about the plight of the freezing UK pensioners. I got a shock looking up Gracie Abrams parents though JJ Abrams and USA Katie McGrath as I thought for a moment it was the Irish actress from Merlin, who went to America. (Same name) Shocked because I thought... Wow, I'm getting really old if she's got a 20 something daughter as Merlin was on TV here again just last year and she looks about 20 in that herself. Glad to find it was the wrong person.
DeleteJust listened to "Freezing This Christmas" by Sir Starmer and The Granny Harmers". Shame on the BBC for banning it! You are right, it would have been number one if not for the Beeb.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family, Kay. Great song, to give cheer to the season. Nothing beats a festive red bird, and we have them liberally around this house. Enjoy it all. x
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you! Hope you enjoy every minute. I am!!
DeleteHave a great and fun packed Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI am, same to you! I've enjoyed playing with throwing around a musical "tater". It's the little things. Merry Christmas!
DeleteThat is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great it's at number one in the UK? Sure beats the one at number 2, look it up, if you can bear to hear it.
DeleteHope you and family have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. I enjoy your blog very much all year, and the memories it invokes for this North Georgia native.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much! Merry Christmas from this ole simple Georgia Girl. xx
DeleteI hope you had a very Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year. 2024 flew by! I love the umbrellas and I bet if our Mayor saw this pic he'd do something like it in our little downtown that has turned into a Hallmark town. It would be cute for the month of April!
ReplyDeleteYou should tell your Mayor about this umbrella idea. Let me know, it would tickle me if you got this in your lovely town too! I always enjoy Christmas. I know you do too!! All the best is wished for you and Jack and all your lovely family. Happy 2025, just around the corner now! You know I'm gonna eat my collards and black eye peas!!
DeleteI pray you and yours have had a blessed and beautiful Christmas season.
