Doris Day (I'll See You In My Dreams)

For anyone who has read my blog before, I hope you will remember how much I admire Doris Day!  I have written about her several times.   I wrote a post last April for her birthday...you may read that post just here.  She passed away today at the age of 97.
The world could use more people like Doris Day, I think.

I know I keep tellling y'all this but you MUST see her in "I'll See You In My Dreams".   PROMISE me that you will! I had my son watch this with me when he was here for my birthday in April and he agreed that not only was it a good film but that she was an amazing actress besides being a great singer.
(Seems like I remember reading that Ella Fitzgerald thought she was a great singer too...so, that really means something in my book!)

Flowers in bloom!  Apostle plant or wandering iris, it is lovely.

  1. The loss of Doris Day is a sad one for the world. Her effortless singing was so soothing. She was truly an iron belle.

  5. We talked about her last night when I had my family over for a little welcome-back gathering after my two weeks away.
Yes, she was special, and we will keep loving her work. At 97, she has lived a full, long life that brought joy to many people (and rescued many animals along the way).

  10. Re-watched Calamity Jane not that long ago and had forgotten what a terrific performer she was. Shame things didn't work out with Rock Hudson..

  13. Doris Day was quite incredible. She'd been on my mind a lot over the past couple of weeks...prior to her passing. I'd been watching Robert Redford's brilliant documentary..."The West"...and every time mention was made of the Black Hills of Dakota" Doris Day singing the song from her movie "Calamity Jane" stuck in my mind!!! :)

And to learn of her death...it saddened me. I saw a photo of her taken around her birthday....just a few short weeks before her death..and she looked absolutely beautiful. She was sparkling like she always did.

    1. I don't think people really knew what a truly great singer and actress she really was. And besides that, just an all around good person. As I have said here, I really, really like people like her. She had truly bad things happen to her but it never made HER bad, if you see what I mean. A sparkling woman, that is a good description.
