Thanks very much for the well wishes for my Dad's 90th birthday!
He wanted a CD by George Jones and the song that he really wanted it hear on it was "Finally Friday".
Here is what I wish for you...on your 90th birthday for you to wave your arms in the air singing, "Let the good times roll". You know that is that my Dad did!
The photo above is of the homegrown potatoes that my Dad has canned himself. The photo below is of Camp Toccoa (remember Band of Brothers?) and that is in honor of his first job as a teenager, he helped to pour concrete for the sidewalks there. I should really say that was his first paid job. He had been working on the farm since he was a child. Why, at the age of ten he could pick 100 pounds of cotton per day!
Your Dad's a livewire!
ReplyDeleteWhat? You must have met him before, you got it just right! :-)
DeleteI don't remember hearing that finally Friday song but leave it to your Dad to pick a good one !
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I knew it either, but my Dad knew every single word! :-)
DeleteHappy Birthday to your Dad and glad he loves George Jones. I heard him live back in the 1970s in FL. He was a good entertainer and put his heart and soul into his performance.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend....maybe your dad will share his potatoes with you! xo Diana
How wonderful that you got to see George Jones perform! He is on one of my Dad's favorites, you can guess that my father doesn't care much for the new kind of country music these days!
DeleteYou know I have some of those canned potatoes in my pantry and when I run out, he gives me more! :-)
Happy Birthday to your dear Dad! He is a man who knows how to live! He's an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHe DOES know how to live, that is very true! One lesson I have learned from him, try to live each and every day that you have.
DeleteHappy birthday to your Dad! Congratulations to still be going strong. Canned potatoes? How wonderful. I thought I had heard all of George Jones' songs, but apparently, I have not.
ReplyDeleteHappy to share this song with you, wish I could share the potatoes too!
DeleteThat's a great song! Good present!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad only mentioned how much he liked that song to my sister, and she promptly made sure she got him the CD!!
DeleteKay, If your father is 90, he is from the generation that knew how to work hard. Sending birthday wishes to him. That is a lot of potatoes. Blessings to all of you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, Lou Zamperini called it the "hardy" generation, and they is certainly true of my Dad! Thanks for you good wishes for him! xx
DeleteHis canned potatoes make me hungry for potato soup. Happy Birthday Georgia Girl's Dad.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely, Georgia Girl's Dad, I love that wish!
DeleteThose potatoes make really good soup, you are right!!
Your Dad is amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou know I think so!
DeleteI agree that your dad is an amazing man and I love hearing stories about him.
ReplyDeleteHe has some great stories and very often, they are very funny too! :-)
DeleteWhat a wonderful guy!! You are fortunate to have him. Is your dad a farmer?
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed, he is a great farer. He worked very early as a child, I think he did everything, picked cotton, raised vegetables, picked peaches, and not only that, I really, really need to tell you the story of him getting rabbit for their dinner when they had no other food. He was just a young teenager but you know he was able to shoot that one rabbit!
DeleteGreat FARMER, I meant to say although, if you think of it, a great farer, is something to think about...faring well along the way of life and working hard and having a good sense of humor and purpose in life. Glad I typed it that way! :-)
DeleteI think we have all sort of adopted your Dad through your blog, Kay. I bet he likes the idea of having so many adoptive sons and daughters all across the world :-)))
ReplyDeleteI am not really sure what he thinks of my blog honestly although I have told him of the well wishes from all of you! Thanks for paying so close attention to my blog and realizing what a great guy my Dad truly is! :-)
DeleteHappy birthday to your father! Aloha from Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, those biscuits shown in your previous post look absolutely delicious.
Thanks! And can you believe it, my Dad has been to Hawaii, he loved it! Aloha!
DeleteThose biscuits are delicious, you would love them.
A very, very, very happy birthday to your Dad. What an amazing gentleman.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat! I love that he now has well wishes for his birthday all the way from the Isle of Lewis!
DeleteHope you are doing well these days, my friend!
Your father sounds like he is a wonderful man. You're so lucky to have him - the love and admiration for him always shows through in your posts, Kay. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lee! That is very sweet of you to say, I only wish I could remember all his great stories to share them with you here! :-)
DeleteHappy 90th birthday to your Dad. I love that he still cans potatos, and how impressive that he could work a farm at such a young age. He is a star!
ReplyDeleteFor his generation, they didn't have much choice. Living during the Depression wasn't for sissies!
DeleteThanks very much for your well wishes!!
No stopping your Dad!
ReplyDeleteOf course, he is forced to slow down now due to his age but he is remarkable for 90, I think.
DeleteGiven the way your dad has lived and worked, it's no wonder he's still going strong at 90. I hope he had a lovely birthday.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Mark! He did have a lovely birthday and all the well wishes from my blogging friends make it even better!
