Coffee And Tea/Jumping Rope!

Sometimes it is necessary to recognize that you might need a little extra help along with the way...and if coffee and tea supplies that need, well then...so be it!  It never hurts to sip a cuppa and to listen to the Inkspots, that hits the spot! Personally, I like both coffee AND tea.  How about you?  (Yorkshire tea is the tea for me, by the way, it is the BEST!)

Mugs we use when we are in Eastbourne. Mine is on the left, Richard is always on the right!

This also reminds me, does anyone else remember this little rhyme?

I like coffee, I like tea, I'd like for Susie to jump in with ME!

That is one of the little things we would say when we would jump rope! And then, the person named would jump in with you and you would try to see how long you could jump in unison before missing.

I bet you are thinking, I must be the only person who starts out talking of tea and coffee and then, segues into my childhood memory of jumping rope!

  1. What a happy little song to accompany MY morning coffee, Kay!
Like you, I always use my same mugs, but I change them with the season. Right now, it's one with a fox on it, in summer it had roses and in winter it will be one with snowflakes. Hey, you have just given me an idea for a "homelife" post - haven't done any of those in a while!

We jumped rope as kids, too, but our rhymes were of course in German and I can not remember what we used to have another kid jump in. I still jump rope now, but only as a (poor) replacement for running when the weather is not run-friendly.

    1. Ha ha and here's me writing a whole long comment without ever answering your question!

I prefer coffee to tea and have tea only when I'm cold and/or unwell, and then it's usually peppermint tea or rosehip.

    2. Glad you like this happy song by The Inkspots!
I remember the mug with the fox on it! I am ready for your "homelife" post now!
We have what is known as English breakfast tea in the USA, but in England, it's just TEA! Of course, we brought back two big boxes of our Yorkshire Tea , we love it so! (And I can taste the difference, if we run out!)
I only have coffee first thing in the morning but it really does help to get me going!!

  2. Boy! I've not heard The Inkspots in a long time!

I don't drink a lot of tea, (every now and then I'll have a run on having a green tea a day..and then the run stops)! And I usually have only one cup of coffee a day. I've a handy little coffee machine...so I make my own lattes.

Green tea, I know it is popular but I don't drink it. Wish I could pop round and have a latte with you! :-)

  3. Love it. And tea must be made with BOILING water, not off-boiled. I prefer tea in the morning, coffee after a good meal. I drink less coffee since stopping smoking - once upon a time I could go all day on black coffee and cigarettes.

    1. Oh yes, we make tea the same way that Richard's mother does in England...warm the pot with boiling water, then put the teabag in the kettle with boiling water! Do you still have a tea cozy to go over the teapot? We do!
Glad you stopped smoking, it is so bad for you. I have never smoked myself, I was anti-smoking before it was cool!

  4. Kay, What a cute song by the Inkspots, today being national coffee day. Do you drink more tea at your house? I sure agree with Mike about the boiling water....that goes for coffee also. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

And hey, Susie....WILL you jump in with me? HA!!

  5. I just bought a new coffee mug. On its side is written: "Good morning. I see the assassins have failed." For some reason, that strikes me as hilarious and it's good to start the day with a smile and a laugh.

    1. That IS a funny coffee mug! When our son was very young, he INSISTED on buying his Dad a mug at the Disney store, it was a Nightmare Before Christmas one, quite expensive but he was certain it was the perfect present for his Dad. He was right, he still uses it!

  7. A blast from the past. I remember that skipping song very well.
Sorry - but I cannot stand tea! I drink strong coffee all the time. I know it is supposed to be bad for you but I have been drinking coffee for 50 plus years and it has done me no harm. I do go more cranky though if I don't have it!!! Pretty china mugs too. x

    1. You had this same little jumping rope rhyme in England, You must have gotten it from us in the USA! (Ha, ha, I am always saying this to Richard about words and phrases.) I never had hot tea until I married Richard but I quickly became a convert! And it never hurts to drink it from a pretty china mug! xx

  8. I collect (or did in the past) tea cups, and have many from my mother and grandmother. However, I usually use a mug, or even a drinking glass which is something I learned from my mil and her family. I drink coffee in the morning and tea any time later. In Hungary I began to drink black current tea (a black tea with that flavoring) and still like it a great deal, and also Lady Grey tea.Actually, I have far too many kinds of tea and just bought some dandelion tea for health reasons.
Love the music of The Inkspots! I may have first heard of them from you.

    1. I like the sound of the black current tea. (I think it was Ribena that our son loved, was made from blackcurrents, I could be wrong.)
Oh! If I have brought attention to the Inkspots on this blog, you have made me very happy! :-)

  13. Coffee, coffee, coffee, and rarely tea! As for where one's mind jumps, that's what makes us all unique! I so remember skipping to this rhyme and others. How about: "Louise and Terry up a tree, K I S S I N G. First comes love, then comes marriage, then come Louise with a baby carriage. How many children did they have? One, two ..." Have a good one!
