Adele At The Royal Albert Hall-JOY

Adele is one popular artist that I actually like.  Not only does she have an amazing voice but she is also an incredible songwriter!   Adele had a baby and has been taking care of her son, so she has been out of the limelight for a while.   I found a video that is from her concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London from 2011.  I love that she shows how thrilled she is to be performing at the Royal Albert Hall, "a dream come true".  The absolute joy that she shows in her music is very refreshing.  Hope you ENJOY this video as much as I do.

My dream is to attend a concert in England and to be able to sing along with the crowd!  They are such wonderful singers!  I think I would love to go to a football game and sing along with those guys too.  You should see me at a baseball game here, I always sing along with the National Anthem and also, "Take me Out To The Ballgame"!

Last August, I actually skipped along this boardwalk at Panola Mountain when it first opened!  Honestly, I wonder how many adult women would think to do that?  Also, do kids even know how to skip anymore? I was surprised I could remember how to do it! (Richard and I were the only ones there so there was no one around to see, I didn't know that Richard snapped this photo...and I have waited until now to share it with you!)

Do you think you could go outside and skip? Go on, I dare you!  (But don't do it if you are physically unable, you don't want me to feel guilt, do you?!)  JOY to you!

  1. I LOVE this picture of you skipping along the walk, Kay! And I guess you guessed it - I'd have done that, too, and have in fact been seen skipping about at various occasions when on a walk :-)
I also am never ashamed to sing along with music when I know the song, be it at the supermarket, a clothes shop, on the dance floor, or at the Market Square Festival with live bands playing.
Every now and then, we all need to be reminded what it was like way back when we were kids.

    1. Oh, I am glad that you also skip when you feel like it! I have only done this when there is no one else around, I am afraid that when one gets to a certain age, one is supposed to have some dignity...but I haven't gotten to that age yet!

  2. I love Adele, I like that she is a singer rather than a celebrity. She doesn't need all the gimmicks either, her voice does all the talking!

  3. Doggone it! I sprained my ankle this morning or I would mostly try it. I'd be happy to skip with you, Kay.

Thank you so much for the Adele video. I really enjoyed it. What an incredible performer she is!

  4. Well I shall surprise you by telling you that not only do I have a skipping rope but I actually went and looked it out and had a go (in my living room rather than the full glare of the birds in the garden).

    1. Ah yes, but you used a skipping rope (we would call it a jump rope) and that is acceptable since that means you are doing it for serious exercise....but what I did was skip along, with one foot behind me and the other foot in the air...it's hard to describe how it is done, but I promise I can do it!!

    2. I did realise that you were referring to skipping along without a rope. I haven't seen anyone doing that since I was at prep school and certainly not a man (no boy would have been caught skipping like that). However (just so that I could comment really) I thought I would use the other meaning of the word but hadn't realised that you called it something different. Now I know. Coincidentally I was doing a Skype interview yesterday with a class of fourth graders in Houston and we were talking of the different words we use for things.

    3. Richard and I will be married for 31 years in June, and we STILL have words that are used differently in our respective countries! It makes for some amusing times between us!
And you were doing a Skype interview with fourth graders from Houston? I bet they loved your accent!

  5. One of my little grandsons recently told his mom that he was kipping and it took her a bit to figure out what he was saying until she saw that he was skipping. so yes, kids still skip...

And guess what, in England, you can say you having a "kip" and it means that you are going to have a nap! You might say this where you are from but I never heard it until I was in England! xx

  6. Yes, i have skipped along at times, but i can't today, it's raining. There's nothing wrong with cutting loose and enjoying the simple pleasure of skipping sometimes!

  7. I sometimes skip and run when I am in the woods with the dogs, it is good to be silly at times.
I have been lucky enough to attend many concerts at the Albert Hall, and would you believe, they were free. Someone had donated a box to the hospital where I used to work, and you could apply for tickets to anything that was being shown. I saw some very big names there. It was an incredible perk!

  10. Your happiness comes across in your post, Kay...and it's contagious. :)

I won't go skipping, though. I'm already dodging those fellows in the white jackets - if they catch my skipping...I'll be carted away for sure! ;)

  12. Me no Skippy. I agree that Adele is a good singer and often plays down her enormous success. I like rolling in the deep and she comes over very well in interviews but she doesn't grab me musically somehow. Sorry. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

    1. Well, you would never believe this, but at first, I didn't like her singing style either!! Lord knows why I didn't...but her song was on the radio one day, and I starting dancing to it and one of our hummingbirds came to the window and started moving with me to the music...I was dancing with a hummingbird! I am such a nutcase but it's true! I have loved her ever since!
Oh , and see my reply to Adullamite too!

  13. Hi Kay

We must get you to an English concert, preferably in London. The places I would recommend are the RAH, the Festival Hall/Queen Elizabeth Hall, Cadogan Hall, Union Chapel or the Borderline Club. Each has its own, very distinct, atmosphere.

You could keep an eye on what's on ahead of your hoped for visit to these shores in September.

If your insurance is up to it, there is always the Fairfield Halls in Croydon. A lovely hall in an unlovely place.

    Kind regards

    Henry

    1. Hey Henry!
Yes! I want to go to all of those venues but since I saw London for the first time in 1980, I have wanted to attend a concert at Royal Albert Hall!
And yes, we are hoping for England for later in the year, we can't wait to see you both and your sweet parents!!
Hope you are having a nice Spring, it looks that way from some of the English blogs that I visit! Take care!

    2. Hey Kay

The first half of September at the RAH is the proms. Beethoven's ninth later in the month.

Looking forward to seeing you then.

    1. I didn't know that I could either but when I saw this path which lead to a lookout to Panola Mountain, I was so tickled that it just came back to me naturally! And I am thinking that is my best side, if you can't see my face! LOL!

    1. Thank YOU for your lovely comment! I have become extremely interested in all of nature, it is due to the lovely Arabia Mountain that is quite close to us. It is like a little slice of heaven to us.
I don't skip very often but it's nice to know that I still can do it!

  17. Good for you!

I may regret admitting this, but the kids and I have skipped across bridges, down trails, and along the street. I hope there are no YouTube videos to prove this though.

  18. I have one of her CD's. I really like her - especially listening to her when on a long journey in the car. Skipping? Wow! Have not done that for a fair few years. I can just hear you saying"kip" in your southern accent. "Keyup" and "Payat" - or as close as I can write it!! Enjoyed that post - very much. Will pay a visit to your favourite "chippy" (ask Richard if you don't know what I am talking about) when we are in Eastbourne next week. x

    1. So happy you will be visiting the great chippy n Eastbourne! And of course, I know that a fish & chip shop is a chippy!!
HA! You made me laugh..."KEYUP" and "PAYAT" is very close to a Southern accent...but your name is closer to "PAYAAAT"...you gotta drawl it out a bit more!! Now, here's the thing, that is how I would speak on the phone with my Dad, but when I am around my British husband, I do a very good fake almost English accent, better than Dick Van Dyke did in Mary Poppins! (Even if I have been compared to him!)
Walk down the pier and turn towards the west and wave to me, okay! Have fun!

  19. Hi Kay

I saw The Seekers at the RAH last night during their 50th - 51st really- anniversary and 'farewell' tour and I thought how much you would have liked being there. They received a standing ovation before they played a note.

    One of these days.........

    Take care

I would say I am jealous, but I live through other people's joy, so I am very happy that you were there!!
