Summer Lightning

We had a thunderstorm here in our area last night.  The very first thunderclap was so loud, it really startled me.  Of course, it doesn't take much for me to jump! (There, you don't really have to know all my nervous habits but I tell you anyway! LOL!)  There is a wonderful song by Ralph McTell called "Summer Lightning".  My husband can play this on the guitar himself and it sounds so good! I love the music and the lyrics.  One day I might be able to get Richard on a video playing it for you but I found one that is almost as good as a Richard performance.  Hope you like it too....

Goodness me, I had to search a while to find this video for you!

ENJOY!

I love to look at clouds in the sky.  Don't you?  Take care, everyone! Look for beauty always!

  1. We have had thunderstorms pop up almost daily. It's been pretty hot and humid up here. Thankfully the cool down comes by Tuesday. I do love a rainy, thunderstorm now and then! (as long as we don't lose power!) Love the video and music. Thanks for sharing and have a good rest of your weekend!

    1. My husband will play this for me whenever I ask! I will say, "do that song where he says "let's go to bed"! Haha! And I'm with you with wanting to keep the power on! Take care!

  2. We have had rain and many clouds here, but not many thunderstorms in a while. I am not very jumpy, but an unexpected loud noise can do that to me, too.
I like looking at the sky first thing in the morning, when I walk into my kitchen. And when I get up during the night, I have a look, too; this week, there were some beautiful moonlit night skies.

    1. Moonlit night skies, that sounds so lovely. You have reminded me of that one time that I went on that Moonlight Hike at Panola Mountain and the moon lit up bits on the rock, like walking on diamonds. Such a great memory!

  8. I've experienced mountain thunderstorms in Italy in summer where it was so loud it must have been similar to a battlefield and shell shock. (0nly without people trying to kill you just bolts of lighting fairly close by) Very scary but also exhilarating when you get through it. Big storm hitting the coastal South right now over there which we usually get the tail end of a week later on our side of the Atlantic.

    1. Don't know if you saw the photos of New Orleans after Ida,it was a terrible storm with much flooding. And you're right, the remains go up the country here and then cross the Atlantic. Bet you wish we wouldn't share storms!

  9. We had a thunderstorm here the other night...before the advent of our spring, which began on 1st September. A few showers are hanging around today...and around 10 pm on Wednesday night we received a surprise downpour that deposited 45cm on our deep, rich red soil. :)

    1. I think I want to go to Australia where your Spring begins on the 1st of September! How fun would that be to see 2 springs in one year? Nothing like having rain when you really need it, we went through a drought a few years back and I remember looking so hopefully at every little cloud in the sky!
