Isn't this a magnificent bird? If you have had any sightings of a painted bunting, please let me know where you have seen it, I will try to get there as soon as I possibly can. Thank you.
In the meantime, hummingbirds are buzzing outside my window and a goldfinch is a constant visitor.
I love birds and I love butterflies too, even one with an injured wing. (It could still fly, by the way, we should learn from it.)
Take care everyone, hope you all have a wonderful week ahead.
Look for beauty everywhere!
Kay, That painted bunting looks like something you would see in a child's coloring book. It is amazing- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI know! And they are in Georgia, only I have never seen one.
DeleteI hope to, one day! xx
I'd love to see a Painted Bunting. The colors are unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteMe and you both!
DeleteWow, Kay, I love the Painted Bunting! It is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it something? If I ever saw this, it would make me so happy!
DeleteIf I saw a Painted Bunting you would hear the excited chatter all the way to Georgia. WHAT a gorgeous bird. All the more so because it's not a parrot or macaw or anything tropical.
ReplyDeleteI see goldfinches all the time on my bike rides - usually hanging around the thistles or the goldenrod. They are beautiful too - little flashes of yellow and black.
Love your yellow daisy header!
Ha! I have read that some people DO capture it and sell it as a caged bird in other countries which is illegal, of course! How could anyone want to cage a bird is beyond me. I want my birds to be FREE.
DeleteGoldfinches are so beautiful! That yellow with the black and white, gorgeous!
Speaking of gorgeous, the yellow daisies are fantastic this year, as they are every year! And you know Richard took that header shot!
None of our European species are as colourful as that, Kay, although some have been dipped into the paint pot quite nicely as well, such as the blue tit, the goldfinch and greenfinch and thistle finch, or some of the woodpeckers and, of course, the jay.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, beauty is so close at hand sometimes, and yet people have a tendency to overlook it in the everyday small things and only look for it in things they can buy.
Oh, I love all birds and I have fond memories of the blue-tit in England! A dear little bird, which I know you love with all the blue and yellow!
DeleteLove the Painted Bunting! The only thing I've ever seen quite that colourful are parrots and parrokeets in Australia. But now I might have to try Bunting Hunting.
ReplyDeleteBunting Hunting! Yes, I love that but only in the sense of hunting with a camera, of course!
DeleteThanks so much for your comment! Please visit again!
How very beautiful. When I first saw the pic of the Painted Bunting I thought it must be the result of photo editing. I would very much like to see one of these for real.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it something?
DeleteThat painted bunting is beautiful I don't think we have those around here at all but we do have butterflies galore and gold finches too. It's a beautiful time of year.
ReplyDelete"Butterflies galore and gold finches too", you are right, it IS a beautiful time of year!
DeleteThat bird looks like it was rolling around in some artist's paintbox! Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt just makes you shake your head in wonder, it is so beautiful!
DeleteThe birds are strikingly beautiful, and i'm fascinated by the butterfly that could still fly when injured. The tenacity of life to hold on!
ReplyDeleteI know and that is our largest butterfly in Georgia, the tiger swallowtail and it is our state butterfly! With most of the wing missing, we were surprised at how well it could fly!
DeleteI've never seen a painted bunting, but if I do, ever, I hope I have my camera with me! I may have seen a blue bunting, but long long ago and I wasn't sure......Looking for beauty everywhere is the way to true happiness. Poor little butterfly. so glad it can still fly!
ReplyDeleteDear pretty butterfly, stil flying with that wing!
DeleteI meant indigo bunting.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I knew what you meant! Richard and I saw an indigo bunting at Panola Mountain one time and we were so excited to see it, it was a very quick bird, and we saw it for only a few seconds!
DeleteBeautiful Birds, the first one is so colorful.
ReplyDeleteKeep a look-out for the painted bunting, I wonder if you have it in your part of Georgia?
DeleteWe get them every year, this year we only spotted the female.
ReplyDeleteLooks as though the female is all green, a beautiful bird too! Looks like Savannah is on my list of places to visit, just for the birds!
DeleteSaw a number of them when we went to Sapelo Island too.
ReplyDeleteThey're strictly a spring time bird for us, don't know where they go after that.
Okay, Sapelo Island in the Spring, here I come!
DeleteOh my, if only I should be so lucky to see a painted bunting!!!! If I see one, I'll let you know!!! All of my usual birds are around although I haven't seen the hummingbirds in a week or so. I actually need to go fill up my feeders ~ the squirrels have cleaned them out yet again! Hope you have a good week!!!
ReplyDeleteOur hummingbirds have been very busy feeding, we think they are getting ready to leave us! Just think of all the thousands of miles those little guys travel, amazing.
DeleteWell there's certainly nothing subtle about the painted bunting. As Librarian said we don't have anything quite so gaudy in Europe. I would add the hoopoe to her list.
ReplyDeleteWow, Graham, I just looked it up, that hoopoe is amazing, I would love to see it one day!
DeleteThose birds are beautiful. When we were in the Rocky Mountains, I so wanted to see a mountain bluebird, but never did.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy week, too.
Hey Connie!
DeleteWe love our birdbirds here. When I visited my sister in Denver, I loved observing the different birds out West!
The first bird is so colorful and is something I have never seen in Hawaii or elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know you must have some colorful birds in Hawaii!
DeleteI was just admiring the lovely colours of your latest header and then, WOW! What a stunning bird - it just doesn't look real - rainbow bird would be more appropriate! Your goldfinch is lovely too - much more golden than ours in the UK. x
ReplyDeleteI know, rainbow bird is right! I would be so happy to see it one day!
DeleteI have some better goldfinch photos, I should do a post on goldfinches alone!

ReplyDeletePainted Bunting is well named, fantastic colours. The Goldfinch is very different colour from ours.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics again.
Richard took even better ones of the goldfinch, it is such a bright yellow!
DeleteI hope to see a painted bunting one day!
