Andy Serkis- I Adore You!

We watched a movie on Thanksgiving night and it was "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".    I thought it was a very good movie and the ape "Caesar," portrayed by Andy Serkis, is what made it so very extraordinary.  He has been in a lot of things and you may read all about him at his website.  It is www.serkis.com  Andy Serkis is very well known for the character "Gollum" in the "Lord Of The Rings" movies, and you will see this same character in the new movie coming out soon in December, "The Hobbit".  ("My Precious...")

This video clip from the movie "13 Going On 30" is only 2 minutes long, so I hope that you will watch it.  Get up and dance to it if you feel like it!  It is a very joyful scene. When the DJ comes down to dance and then the man in the suit comes out to dance too, that was unexpected!  The man in the suit is Andy Serkis!  I wanted you to see that not only is Andy Serkis a great actor (and he is a painter as well, read this at his website!) but he is a good dancer too.   I was surprised at his dancing ability!  I really shouldn't have been though, talented people are very often gifted in many different areas.

Here is another diaper cake I made for a baby shower this weekend.   It was just a little one, but I thought it turned out okay.  I take lousy pictures, it was really cuter than this! (I hope.) Anyway, at the baby shower someone else had made a WREATH out of diapers and someone else had made a MOTORCYCLE out of diapers with a teddy-bear riding the diaper motorcycle! Honestly, why do I even try?

I wonder if Andy Serkis could bring this face on my Corn Jalapeno Casserole to life?  If anyone could, he could!   (My sister-in-law, Ellen, always wants me to bring this.  She is one of the few people in my family that reads my blog.  She might be the only one. Thank you, Ellen!)

  2. Hi Kay! We're big fans of Andy's in this house. Have you ever watched the specials where they show how they bring Gollum to life? It's really quite amazing. Alain is obsessed with LOTR and is counting the days until he can see The Hobbit. Ha! Love your diaper cake, especially the sweet little safari themed goodies it's made from! Thanks for your comment tonight on that adorable video (Caine's Arcade)!!!! I think I'll go watch it again. Tee hee....

  4. Not long ago I happened to come across "13 going on 30" on TV after having watched the news, and I simply had to watch the entire movie. I don't like Jennifer Garner particularly, but I liked the film, so, thank you for this little reminder!
Your corn jalapeno casserole looks adorable - can I have some, please? :-)

    1. Oh Sulky Kitten, you don't know Andy Serkis? I'm sure most people don't know his name but he really has been in a lot of things. I think he should have gotten an Oscar for his role in "Rise of The Planet of the Apes".
Oh, so happy you like my falling down diaper cake! You would have marvelled at the diaper wreath and motorcycle, really well done!

    1. Dear Jenny,
There has to be one nutty Aunt who makes casseroles like that. You can guess I am the one in my family!

  8. This post made me laugh on all levels! First, I went to see the ape movie to please hubby..but enjoy it...Second, I love "13 going on 30"..one of my fav, fun flicks to veg too...Third,the diaper cake is really great! Your story about the other "cakes" reminded me when my kiddos were little and we'd make what we thought was a totally amazing valentine box and some kid would come with his box made to look like the Golden Gate Bridge, or the Lincoln memorial, or some other wonder of the world. I just had to shake my head...oh well! Have a great week!

    1. Well, I am happy to know that I make someone laugh!!
At least when we would make these things and see that others have made PRIZE WINNING creations, we can still laugh about it!
I suspect we might be very similar in our outlook on life, what do you think? :-)
Hope you have a wonderful week too!

  9. Lots of people think Andy Serkis was robbed of an Oscar for portraying Gollum. The Academy would not let his name stand as a best supporting actor because of all the special effects used to create the character's physical appearance.

    1. I know and that seems such a shame to me! I think he deserved an Oscar for Gollum and also for Caesar!
Methinks the Academy needs to call me and discuss this for the future. Yes, I am sure that will happen!

  10. I am literally on the edge of my seat in anticipation of 'The Hobbit!' Andy Serkis was fabulous in The Rings and Rise of the Planet of the Apes - I expect he will not disappoint in The Hobbit either. Love your diaper cake - oh so cute!!

    1. Hey Jane!
Glad you like Andy Serkis too!
And my diaper cake also had a crochet baby cap at the back all tucked in like a diaper but I showed the mother-to-be where it was so she MIGHT use it on the baby!

  12. We so admire Andy Serkis - he completely stole the show in The Two Towers. What a prodigious talent! I am looking forward to The Hobbit, though I do hope they don't make it any darker than it needs to be.... and really, 3 movies? At that rate LOTR ought to have been about 8 movies long. (Just finished re-reading Hobbit so as to be up on the plot details.)

That casserole looks mighty yummy. :)
