Give me strength to live another day;
Let me not turn coward before its difficulties or prove recreant to its duties;
Let me not lose faith in other people;
Keep me sweet and sound of heart, in spite of ingratitude, treachery, or meanness;
Preserve me from minding little stings or giving them;
Help me to keep my heart clean, and to live so honestly and fearlessly that no outward failure can dishearten me or take away the joy of conscious integrity;
Open wide the eyes of my soul that I may see good in all things;
Grant me this day some new vision of thy truth;
Inspire me with the spirit of joy and gladness;
and make me the cup of strength to suffering souls;
in the name of the strong Deliverer, our only Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
(Prayer by Phillips Brooks.)
Happy Mothering Sunday to my dear mother-in-law in England. Wish we could have had tea at the Hydro Hotel today! Wishing the best to all the MUMS in England and any other countries celebrating their Mother's Day today!

Raising a glass to all the Mum's out there! I think I've had one too many chocolates today :-) xx
ReplyDeleteLucky you, with chocolates! Hope you had a happy day! xx
DeleteMother's Day is much later in Germany (in May), but I love my Mum dearly all year round, and she knows it :-)
ReplyDeleteMary, my mother-in-law in Yorkshire, did not have such a good day today... My sister-in-law just texted me, letting me know that one of Mary's two cats had to be put to sleep this morning :-(
Ours is in May also, so we have TWO Mothers' Day at our house!
DeleteSo sorry for Mary In Yorkshire, it is so hard when we have to make those kind of decisions. x Love to her and to you and your Mum. xx
A salute to mothers everywhere. That is a beautiful prayer.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful prayer. Look up Phillips Brooks, he was not only a famous pastor but a prolific author, he wrote the lyrics to "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem".
DeleteHappy Mothering Sunday to all who celebrate today!
ReplyDeleteYes, I hope that all mothers on this day were honored!
DeleteThose Brits . . . they always get the jump on us. Even when it comes to celebrating mothers.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right! :-)
DeleteMothers do deserve a special day for sure ! I love the brilliant picture of the daffodils in your header. Can it be that Spring has arrived?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Those "daffs" as my husband calls them, are from my Dad's.
DeleteHe planted them in 1992 when he retired. Notice they are beside the utility pole, just beside the road. He COULD have planted them closer to his house, but by having them there anyone driving by can enjoy them. That's my Dad! xx
Yes, Happy Mum's Day!
ReplyDeleteYes, Richard calls his mother "Mum" like a good English boy! xx
DeleteThought of you a lot last weekend when we were in Atlanta for my niece's wedding!
ReplyDeleteWe stayed at the Hyatt Perimeter and she was married at Villa Christina and the rehersal dinner was at Papasitos in Marietta....I know Conyers is not so far away!
But we did not have a spare second!
Oh! I am very happy that the weather was good for you. Only...in a few weeks the Spring green will be out and everything will be blooming, wish you could have been here for that! Our dogwood trees in bloom are something to see! Glad everything worked out well for the wedding! xx
