Arabia Mountain Yellow Daisies/Sunset

Note to Yellow Daisy Lovers:  The Yellow Daisies are at their best during the first part of September at Stone Mountain.  They are equally as beautiful at Arabia Mountain, but it is later, more like the last part of September.  These photos were taken on Sept. 23th and Sept. 25th at Arabia Mountain.
You can still see all the evidence of the quarrying done on the mountain but nature, blessed lovely nature, is coming back..  Yellow Daisies should not really be capitalized but this is my blog and I say they deserve capitals, and they shall have them!
Richard took all of these photos but I must tell you that I asked him to take this one, with the blue Slender day flower amongst the Yellow Daisies!

This photo reminds me of a painting by one of the Impressionists, Monet perhaps?

This pine tree was in very little soil and had partially fallen over.  It was still alive though, we need to learn from it! Can you see the lines in the rocks on the left? That shows where the rock was drilled so as to crack it along those lines for the rock to be quarried.

Sunsets are not so easy to see with all the trees that we have in Georgia but on top of Arabia Mountain...

Hope you enjoyed the Yellow Daisies and the sunset at Arabia Mountain.  We truly did!

Oh, and I asked Richard if he could get a photo of the Yellow Daisies and the sunset in the same shot.  Please tell me that you love this photograph as much as I do!   I think it is stunning! Well, I think they are all stunning to tell you the truth.  Is it just me or is Richard a great photographer or what?

  1. The photos are works of art. I do love the last one, but they are all beautiful. The daisies are incredible. As our grandson Noah would say, "God, You're Wonderful!"

  2. Both the daisies and the sunset pictures are wonderful - and to have them combined in one is... ah, too good for words!
My favourite of this series, though, is the one with the blue flower in the middle of all the yellow.

    1. Good Tracey, I am glad that you like this one too. And as you can see, he just can't take a bad one. He thinks that it is the subject matter, but honestly, I have seen some other photos of Arabia and his are the best!

    1. Oh, yes, the daisies against the rock is such a nice contrast. And the rock can look such different colors depending on the light. Can you tell we love Arabia Mountain!

    1. Thanks, John! Did you see my photos from England of the Bluebell Walk? Our Yellow Daisy Walk at Stone Mountain reminded me of it. The funny thing is this: the bluebells in England are celebrated and loved whereas these beautiful yellow daisies are hardly noticed.

  12. Beautiful photos, Kay! Yes, I do love that last one. Have you printed some out and added them to albums, or made photo books. Some of them would make gorgeous wall art.

    1. Dear Martha,
You are such a great photographer, I am glad that you agree that Richard has such a good eye! And do you think that he needs an SLR? I know you got one and I wonder what you think?
We hardly ever print any photos out anymore, our local Wolf Camera went out of business and we really liked the folks there.

    2. An SLR is great, but not necessary. The SLR offers more options and a lot of fun to use once you get to know it well. But it's not vital. And these images look beautiful, so I don't really see the need to change the camera. Unless you really want to, or you find a great deal somewhere. I use my SLR regularly, but I still use my small point and shoot very often since it does a terrific job, especially with macros.

    3. Thanks, Martha! I will give my photographer your answer! (And don't I just sound like a super-model with my own photographer, ha ha!)

  13. Gorgeous photos, Kay! And especially that last one!! :) What a beautiful place that is - Daniel and I will have to go hiking there some day soon... considering we live fairly close. Seeing all those yellow daisies reminds me of September in New Mexico when all the jerusalem artichokes would bloom like that on the side of the roads - it was stunning! Much like what you are showing us. Thank you!! Love, Silke

    1. Dear Silke,
Thank you! Drive on up and we could do Stone Mountain and Arabia Mountain on the same day, fun!
Richard has seen photos of the flowers blooming in New Mexico and he said that they too are beautiful. We love our flowers, don't we? My sister lived in New Mexico before she lived in Colorado, and I LOVED her photos from out west.
Hope you are doing well and will have a beautiful autumn. xx
