Hey! How are you all doing? I am happy to tell you that Richard and I just spent two weeks in England! Yes, I know you might be wondering why I didn't mention it but there are some...how should I put this...some criminal types in this area and just in case, I didn't want to have it on here that I would be out of the country! Hope you understand!
Now, after a very long flight (made longer by delays on either end) arriving home quite late, I will be going with my Dad and step-mother to a family reunion today!
Hey, I will be tired but it will be worth it, I am sure. Not much time again today to look at your blogs or to say much even in this post but I DO want to tell you about one of the films that I watched on the plane. When you fly these days, it is difficult to view a movie, but I like to look for one in another language and then, it is easier to read the English subtitles rather than try to listen to the dialogue. See, isn't that brilliant! (Go on, you know I am! HA!)
The quote from my post title..."Wake up people, we're alive!" is from a German movie called "Der Geilste Tag" and it is translated as "The Most Beautiful Day". The character says this line as he is in a hospice and he shouts it out one morning! (I am wondering if my one and only German follower has seen this film. How about it, Meike?) It was wonderful! It made me laugh out loud! If I tell you what it is about you might think it could be depressing, but it is exactly the opposite.
I do highly recommend it!
"Wake up, people! We're alive!" There, that is certainly something that should make you smile!
The green building is a former Taxi stand in London, now converted into a cafe. Just outside Russell Square, we would walk by it on our way into town! (It amuses me that London is called "town". People would ask us in Eastbourne, would we be going into "town" and they meant would we be visiting London!)
Don't get me started on how I still find American English and English so different! I must go and get ready for a drive to Martin, Georgia for a family reunion! Take care, my mates!

Hope you enjoyed your trip. I watched around ten films going to Australia and back and most of them were very good with four of them in different languages. Film looks like a German version of The Bucket List but it's hard to tell not knowing German apart from the title.

DeleteI've not seen "Der geilste Tag", but then I do not watch many movies anyway, and even less of the German ones - more often than not they are not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. But I am glad you enjoyed this one on the plane.

DeleteAnd yes, we DID have the heat wave! It was hot! We really wanted it cooler after our Georgia temps, but hey, hot in England is not the same hot as Georgia!!
And you are right, it was great to be at the reunion with my Dad, he always has a good time!

If you're going to go all phonetic on me, we'd probably say Sahndra. This is a bit like Nick and his dog/dawg thing, remember? (He's 32 now, just to make you feel old). You're always welcome, and a trip to the Bear and Batemans is a must.

ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about criminal types that are lurking everywhere. I try to hide the fact that I'm on a trip too. It's too scary who might be reading a post and decide it could be easy pickings.
