Glenn Frey of The Eagles died today. I am very sorry to learn of this. The Eagles performed at the Omni in Atlanta in the late 70's and it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. I found a video from 1973 from the BBC.
Not only was he a singer/guitarist but he also wrote or co-wrote many of their hit songs. "Desperado" was written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey. I really admire musicians/singers/songwriters!

I was so sorry to hear this. Netflix Instant has a wonderful film about them from 2013.

DeleteAs much as I love their music, I've never seen them in concert. My sister said that their concert was the best she ever went to.
ReplyDeleteTheir harmonies were just wonderful in concert. You can voices sound the way you like in a studio but when it is live and it is just as good, that makes it special!
DeleteIt's a sad loss from a contributor to such a popular group of performers. Of course we of that generation are coming to a time when we are all starting to pop off this mortal coil and at least it's good to be leaving such a legacy.

DeleteThis saddened us too, we've been Eagles fans for a long time. Recently we watched a documentary on them, it was on streaming from Netflix, well worth watching. We thought we knew everything about them, but were surprised by a lot of it.
ReplyDeleteI am sure I would like that documentary. I just saw a quote from Bob Segar today about Glenn Frey, can't remember what it was, but it was nice. They were good friends. I also saw J.D. Souther's website and he called him a little brother.
DeleteMy favorite was "Lyin' Eyes". They put out some timeless songs. It is beginning to upset me that all of these great musicians who are dying are the same age as I am. That camellia is so perfect.

And I should have put in Mountain Park PARK into a search engine!! I see it now and wow, it IS close to Stone Mountain!! In fact, I must be looking over it when I am on the side of the mountain looking north, over Hwy 278. Can you see Stone Mountain from your Mountain Park Park? I should think so!!
I'm such a huge fan of Don Henley so this loss hit a little too close to home. I was so sad!
ReplyDeleteI saw that Miranda Lambert singing "Desperado" was trending on social media. Why in the world would you want to hear her when you have the great video of Don Henley singing it? I hope you listened to this video! And both videos are good, the one from 1973 is wonderful too. xx
