"Eye In The Sky", Movie Coming Out March 2016.
Alan Rickman died today, another beautiful London voice stilled. We can still see him and hear him in the films that he made. His last movie, "Eye In The Sky" is a thriller that will be released in the USA in March. (Technically, his very last movie will be released later this year, but it will be his voice only, in the Alice In Wonderland movie sequel by Tim Burton.)
I have written of my admiration for Alan Rickman before. If you have not seen him in any films, I urge you to search them out! One of the funniest is "Galaxy Quest". If you have not seen it, then do so, immediately!

Alan Rickman was a fantastic and wonderful man, and I'm glad that we'll get him for just a little bit longer, even though he's gone.
ReplyDeleteI adored him, to be honest, and I was quite shocked to learn of his death. I will miss him but we still have his movies and I am grateful for those.
DeleteHe was a distinguished talent. He always stood heads above the others he appeared with which was often hard. He acted with some very talented people.

DeleteReading what his friends had to say after his death, I see I guessed correctly that he was a really nice man and that is the most important thing to me anyway, above all else.
It was a shock to hear the news and so sad - he was truly gifted. We watched Galaxy Quest last night in honour of him and cried laughing - a better honour than crying in sorrow, I thought. x

Alan Rickman was one of my favourite actors, and definitely my favourite voice. I had no idea he was ill and expected him to be around a lot longer - another 20 years at least.

DeleteAn enjoyable actor to watch. In the tributes over here it mentioned he was largely responsible for British actors appearing in American movies as villains after his turn as a baddie in Die Hard. Fans of the Harry Potter series have been leaving flowers at the relevant platform in Kings Cross Station in London.

I was sad to hear of Mr. Rickman's passing. I loved him in Sense and Sensibility and just recently watched A Little Chaos, which he also directed. He was a fine and distinguished actor.

DeleteAlan Rickman is one of my faves too and his death is very distressing. Hadn't heard of "Eye in the Sky" before but will watch for it this spring. It certainly poses the "classic" moral dilemma, doesn't it? Sacrifice one for the sake of saving many, or sacrifice many for the sake of saving one?
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie looked very good, I think the writer of the film also wrote some of the Prime Suspect episodes which were very well done.

DeleteI will certainly see this. Rickman was one of my favorite actors! I am so sorry he died too soon, as it seems to me. He was with his wife for 50 years.
ReplyDeleteI know, I love that he was with her for so long! They were together for that long, but only just married last year. I wonder if it was due to his illness and perhaps for legal reasons? No matter, it does not surprise me that he was with his partner for so long, just seemed like such a nice guy.

I agree with you about Alan Rickman, wonderful. I saw him live in a play when I was very young and he made such a massive impression on me. I don't think he had a starring role but he was just so good he might as well have been the star! I am now racking my brains wondering which play it was! By the way I didn't manage to reply to your comment on my blog till just now, I wasn't ignoring it :)

Rickman certainly did have an "air" about him. Is there anyone in this world who hasn't seen him in at least "Love Actually"? And who've not seen the movie at least a hundred times??
ReplyDeleteHe had a memorable voice. I found it interesting to learn that when he studied at RADA back in the early Seventies, studying Shakespeare, he earned his keep by working as a dresser to Sir Nigel Hawthorne and Sir Ralf Richardson.
And the most wonderful fact, even though his voice was so very elegant and regal sounding, he really came from a working class background and that makes me like him all the more!
