This hawk landed on our neighbor's mailbox and Richard tried his best to get the bird to turn a little so as to take a better photo, but we were pleased to see it this close...now this is a hawk but I am going to have to tell you about the falcons, the Atlanta Falcons, that is!!!
The Falcons just won the divisional play- off game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Falcons were ahead 20 to 0 at halftime, but THEN, the Seahawks came back in the 4th quarter and then the score was 28-27 with less than 1 minute remaining... oh, it was so exciting, truly it was!! The Atlanta Falcons kicked a field goal which made the score 30-28. The Seahawks had a chance to score another touchdown with just seconds left in the game, with a Hail Mary pass but it was intercepted. The Atlanta Falcons will play the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday. Go Falcons!!!
(I am able to get this photo on here by using Chrome, and I want to thank all of you who have left your comments on getting my photos on here. I appreciate your help! )
Now, just be hoping that this Atlanta team wins next Sunday, I don't ask for much in life, honestly, I don't, I just want my sports teams to win. That's not too much to ask, is it?

ReplyDeleteAmazing picture of that hawk! We (Green Bay Packers) are out of the playoffs after a great season. Glad Chrome is working for you now, Kay- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIf you think that photo is good, scroll on down to the comment by Audrey and click on her blog, she has a header photo of a hawk right in her driveway! Lucky girl!
DeleteThanks for the Chrome tip, you are a shining star! (Edged in CHROME, HA HA)
I'm very impressed with the pic. We can't get close enough to the hawk that hangs out by us.
ReplyDeleteI thought that it looked a lot like some of the fake eagles/hawks that are people's mailboxes, but this was the real deal!
DeleteWe love the birds.
Good manners behoove me to say congratulations to the Falcons, though today's loss was a bitter, bitter defeat for a Seahawks team from whom so much was expected. The loss was even more depressing since our quarterback Russ Wilson passed for 385 yards, breaking a rookie record which was set in the 1930's. He also ran for 67 more yards. But what's done is done, and we will be back next year, so watch out! :0)
ReplyDeleteOh Carol, it was such a close game! I just read the sports column for The Seattle Times and the columnist said it was "So close, so heartbreaking". It could have gone either way, a lot of folks today said they think it might have shaved a few years off their lives, it was just that emotional!
DeleteThe Seattle Seahawks are very much respected and absolutely, let's see what happens next year. That is what I LOVE about sports, anything can happen, and often does!!
Great shot of the hawk! We have a few here at the Pines and I love to see them flying around looking for some food..like the moles in my yard! Congrats on the football win..I'm not a FB follower but hubby told me about the game. Sounded exciting!
ReplyDeleteThanks, and not only do we enjoy seeing them in flight, but also, the call of a hawk is unmistakable.
DeleteI am afraid that my husband really does not care for sports at all, so he knows about games the same way that you do, from the excitement and enthusiasm from his spouse!
Wow! I saw a bit of that game -- it was 4th quarter, about 4 minutes left, score was 27-21 I believe. I thought the game was essentially over, but it sounds like I missed the best part! Yowza!
ReplyDeleteSome people here turned the channel in disgust, and MISSED the Atlanta Falcons winning the game! It ain't over till it's over...a truth I know from sports!
DeleteCertainly not an everyday encounter, so close up with a hawk! Thanks to Richard for getting such a good picture.
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a few hawks here in our neighborhood, but we have never seen one this close. Glad our neighbor got this new wooden post for her mailbox!
DeleteWhat a great picture, such a beautiful bird!
ReplyDeleteIvan
Thanks, Ivan, it is truly a thrill to see one!
DeleteWell done Richard for getting that shot! So difficult to capture a bird the right way.
ReplyDeleteWell done you for getting the picture up! Next time I have PC problems I;m coming to you for help!
Richard is very patient, and also quiet and steady when he holds the camera, and he also has such a good eye for photography!
DeleteOkay, I must admit, I was getting very fed up with not getting my photos on my blog, so I you might not be able to get any advice from me, as I might have to enroll in anger management classes. HA! Just kidding, I think...
Kay, I reckon you would make a great sports commentator. I don't even understand the game and you had me excited!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I could have written even MORE about it, I promise you, but I tried to be as brief as possible!
DeleteI try to restrain from my sports craziness but sometimes, when it is a game like that ,it is hard not to get excited.
Beautiful photo! I love watching hawks....they are so majestic!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! We love our birds. Hope you are feeling better today!
DeleteOh, I love the hawk picture! They don't always cooperate and pose the way we want though, do they??? Hope you guys had a nice weekend....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Audrey! Well, I don't know about them not posing for EVERYBODY since somebody I know got one to pose for her right in her driveway!! HA!
DeleteWe had a wonderful weekend, you know how hot it was in the South this weekend!
Great picture, I always get excited when we see a falcon or an eagle. We have loads of buzzards here, not as many of the others.
ReplyDeleteOh it was an exciting game, thought they'd blown it for a while. San Francisco will be tough to get past.
We just took some photos of the buzzards at Arabia Mountain, they posed for Richard!
DeleteIt WAS exciting, and so close, it was painful at times to watch. Fingers crossed for the game with San Francisco!!
Congratulations, Falcons! Nice pic, i'm glad Chrome works for you that way.
ReplyDeleteHey Mimi!
DeleteThanks! (Funny your son loving his sports game, watching the cheerleaders that he enjoyed, men are the same, aren't they?)
Yay, let's hope that Chrome does the trick for me.
Great picture of the hawk! Wish I could see it that close sometimes..:-)
ReplyDeleteDon't you see them when you are mountain climbing?
DeleteKeep your eyes peeled for them, but don't fall off your mountain!
I'm happy you are happy, Kay!
ReplyDeleteGo Falcons!
That was an exciting game.
However, things are gloomy here in Bronco Land. :(
Kudos to the Ravens for their hard fought win over our Broncos. Although it might be risky, I'm saying the Ravens deserved their win! They never gave up!
I guess I'll just have to root for the cutest males running up and down the fields!
Have a good day!
Oh, you know that my sister and her husband are HUGE Bronco fans. When they lived in Denver, they lived right next to a small church where people parked to go to the Broncos games, it was just a short walk to the stadium.
DeleteThe cutest males running on the fields, hey girl, you make me laugh! Maybe it is us GIRLS who never change.
I just posted a photo of a hawk too! Unfortunately, my pic is very blury. It's hard to get a good pic of a bird. As soon as I moved to get a better pic, off he flew.
ReplyDeleteI know! They are so fast! Richard was very pleased to get this and he took a few closer ones, but the bird's head was turned around!
DeleteIt is great to have passions. I follow the New Zealand Warriors rugby league team. A great shot of the hawk!
ReplyDeleteRugby! Now, that IS a manly game. I am afraid that I really love sports, Richard really only likes "football" or soccer, as we say in the States!
DeleteAnd once again, that was Richard's photo, and I will give him your compliments! :-)
