I Want To Break Free!

The baggage handlers at London Heathrow did a tribute to Freddie Mercury yesterday on what would have been his 72nd birthday. (He once worked as a baggage handler at Heathrow.)

Now I know why it takes so long for me to get my bags! Just kidding...I hope.

They can't get their hands on this one of mine! I have shown you this before, it is my carry-on which was a high school graduation gift from 1975.  Hope you all have a golden day!

    1. Thinking about it, it must be quite the job, handling all those pieces of luggage. When we return from England, we load ours down with Yorkshire teabags and various other bits and bobs!

  5. Love Freddie and Queen, got to see them in concert. Didn't know he'd been a baggage handler.

Lucky you to have seen Queen in concert! I always thought that Freddie Mercury in the concert "BandAid" was one of the most amazing performances ever.

    1. Song lyrics floating above the street? That is right down my alley (no pun intended!) I really do love that!
      Cheers!

  7. I loved the video. I Want To Break Free was derided in the US. Apparently someone decided that we are not sophisticated enough for the humor in Queen's video. Ir is a great song.

    1. They dressed in women's clothes in the video for this song, something the USA would have not been ready for yet. Yes, the video is so great, wish I could have been one of those lucky visitors to see them do this.

    1. I have a large golden suitcase that goes with it but alas, I can no longer use that one, too many trips to England and it has gotten crushed.

  10. Oh, what fun they had, obviously. Wonder if they can top it next year?

  12. I love that you have the carry on you got as a high school graduation gift. When I graduated in 1963 one of the presents I got was a small rectangular case for travel. It had a special name which I can't seem to dredge up from my memory at the moment, but I wish I still had it!

    1. Mine is American Tourister. Just looked it up, I could sell it on Ebay, it's vintage, like me, I guess! LOL!

    2. It was called a train case. It was white leather and had my initials in gold on it...Long ago and far away.

    3. That sounds lovely. Ah trains, as a child growing up I would watch the train pass by my grandfather's house and see the people in the dining cars. It looked so elegant and how I longed to be with them!

When I see the name "Jen", I always think of the pretty actress from "The IT Crowd." Such a funny TV show!

  14. Never knew that fact. Bet he was a showman even then in a more modest way that wouldn't get him sacked.

  15. I love your bag but amazed you still have the same one since high school. I have been changing my carry-on every couple of years. I loved my very small underseat roll-on but now planes don't give you enough space.
