The baggage handlers at London Heathrow did a tribute to Freddie Mercury yesterday on what would have been his 72nd birthday. (He once worked as a baggage handler at Heathrow.)
Now I know why it takes so long for me to get my bags! Just kidding...I hope.
They can't get their hands on this one of mine! I have shown you this before, it is my carry-on which was a high school graduation gift from 1975. Hope you all have a golden day!
Terrific video, LOL! I'm looking forward to the Freddie Mercury biopic.
ReplyDeleteI know! Wish I could have seen it, all I ever see at Heathrow are crowds of tired people.
DeleteWhat a great video! A fun way to start my day :)
ReplyDeleteHey Martha! So good to see your smiling face here! Glad you loved this too. xx
DeleteHope you too have a golden day full of wonderful memories in the making!
ReplyDeleteThanks, MA! :-) The very same is wished for you. x
DeleteI loved the video. I only wish the baggage handlers took more care with our bags.
ReplyDeleteThinking about it, it must be quite the job, handling all those pieces of luggage. When we return from England, we load ours down with Yorkshire teabags and various other bits and bobs!
DeleteLove Freddie and Queen, got to see them in concert. Didn't know he'd been a baggage handler.
ReplyDeleteStick with me and you will learn all kinds of facts that will do you no good in life! LOL!
DeleteLucky you to have seen Queen in concert! I always thought that Freddie Mercury in the concert "BandAid" was one of the most amazing performances ever.
Hi Kay - I hadn't realised he was a baggage handler ... but this is fun - thought you might enjoy this post too:

Cheers and happy memories ... Hilary
Song lyrics floating above the street? That is right down my alley (no pun intended!) I really do love that!
DeleteCheers!
I loved the video. I Want To Break Free was derided in the US. Apparently someone decided that we are not sophisticated enough for the humor in Queen's video. Ir is a great song.
ReplyDeleteThey dressed in women's clothes in the video for this song, something the USA would have not been ready for yet. Yes, the video is so great, wish I could have been one of those lucky visitors to see them do this.
DeleteI LOVE this! Thanks so much for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteHey Nan! So glad you love it too! :-)
DeleteThat looks like such a nice carry on.
ReplyDeleteI have a large golden suitcase that goes with it but alas, I can no longer use that one, too many trips to England and it has gotten crushed.
DeleteOh, what fun they had, obviously. Wonder if they can top it next year?
ReplyDeleteI know! And I hope that if they do something like this again, that I will be one of those lucky ones to see it!
DeleteAhhhh...the wonderful Freddie. That would have brought tears to my eyes...and the tears would have overflowed.
ReplyDeleteI would have cried too. Of course, I cry over almost anything. x
DeleteI love that you have the carry on you got as a high school graduation gift. When I graduated in 1963 one of the presents I got was a small rectangular case for travel. It had a special name which I can't seem to dredge up from my memory at the moment, but I wish I still had it!
ReplyDeleteMine is American Tourister. Just looked it up, I could sell it on Ebay, it's vintage, like me, I guess! LOL!
DeleteIt was called a train case. It was white leather and had my initials in gold on it...Long ago and far away.
DeleteThat sounds lovely. Ah trains, as a child growing up I would watch the train pass by my grandfather's house and see the people in the dining cars. It looked so elegant and how I longed to be with them!
DeleteLOL, so funny! I'm sure these handlers did the vid while on their break ;). Cute bag, too!
ReplyDeleteI just wish I could have seen something like this, I would have been so tickled! Jen, I just read your post about publishing-so funny but informative also. :-)
DeleteWhen I see the name "Jen", I always think of the pretty actress from "The IT Crowd." Such a funny TV show!
Never knew that fact. Bet he was a showman even then in a more modest way that wouldn't get him sacked.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever win anything in a trivia contest, don't forget to thank me! ☺
DeleteI love your bag but amazed you still have the same one since high school. I have been changing my carry-on every couple of years. I loved my very small underseat roll-on but now planes don't give you enough space.
ReplyDeleteI tend to hang on to things. Still have my electric curler set from 1984. Might have to retire that one soon!
