Happy Mothering Sunday To My Mother-In-Law AND Queen Elizabeth!

Hello to you all!  It will be Mothering Sunday in England tomorrow, so I want to wish all the MUMS in England a happy day! In particular, I want to send best wishes to the most elegant of them all, Joan of Eastbourne, my gorgeous mother-in-law!

Now, to PROVE to you that my mother-in-law is truly a REGAL woman, I have a photograph of the back of her beautiful head of white hair and I have a photo of the Queen also!  Can you tell which one is Joan and which one is the Queen?
Don't let the diamond tiara fool you, you cannot underestimate Joan's exquisite taste in fashion!

Today, we had the carillonneur at Stone Mountain play a special tune for us. (She did this when she heard Richard's English accent!) When I told her that I was going to have this photo of the Queen here, we both giggled at her perfect choice of song! (The recording I have here is from Westminster Abbey!)

Happy Mothering Sunday to Joan and Queen Elizabeth! And to all the mothers I know in England and Scotland!

The rest of you, have a great weekend and week ahead!

Oh! I meant to tell you...Joan IS elegant but she can be a bit CHEEKY, you know!  One of her friends gave her a solar gnome for her garden, but she thinks it is hilarious and shows it off in her conservatory!  Hmm...I bet the QUEEN has one too but she just doesn't tell anybody!
Happy and GLORIOUS!

  1. I do believe your mother-in-law has slightly better posture than the Queen. Happy Mothering Day.

  6. Oh that cheeky gnome! I bet the Queen DOES have one too! I read once that apparently she had one of those singing trophy-mounted fish back when they were popular (remember those? I think they were called Billy the Big-mouthed Bass or something like that) and thought it was hilarious, playing it for people over and over.

    1. Oh yes, my Dad has that same big mouthed bass, it would sing "Don't Worry, Be Happy"! I love that the Queen enjoyed it, it must have made all her visitors giggle!

    1. Ha, ha! Yes, they will most certainly sing God Save The King! And the tune is so good, we stole it for "My Country, Tis of Thee"!

  8. Happy Mothering Sunday. I remember as a kid they stopped playing the National Anthem in picture halls because so many folk were stampeding out just as the film finished before the credits started rolling to get away to buses before it started as you had to stand to attention when it came on until it ended. I think they abandoned the practice around the 1960s. Might have been the 'Sound of Music' when I noticed this happening.

    1. I just asked Richard if he remembers this but he said and he didn't, it must have stopped just before he was taken to the movies. Me, I would stand and sing that song anytime, if only I could remember all the words!
The Sound of Music, oh man, I can still remember the ads that they would show for that movie...I didn't get to see it as a child but I wanted to so very much!
(Saw it as an adult and I loved it, still do!)

  9. I can't remember in what context, but I am pretty sure you have posted the photo of Joan's beautifully done hair before. Yes, she is the most elegant of them all!

    1. Yes! I took that photo from two years ago! When I walked past her and noticed her gorgeous hair from behind, I knew I had to have that photo! I know that I had put this one on here before but I bet you are the only one who noticed it! :-)

  10. Joan really does look like the queen, she just needs a crown now. It's a little obvious which is which when one is wearing a diamond encrusted crown. Maybe you can get her one next Mother's Day.

    1. Ha, ha, if you only knew Joan you would understand my joke about the diamond tiara! (Also, the photo of the Queen has a caption at the bottom, "The Queen at 90", just like me to not notice that until I put I on my post!
Okay then, note to myself: a diamond tiara next year for Joan!

  12. Well that's two wonderful heads of white hair! From what I've heard of the Queen, she also has a mischievous sense of humour, so who knows what she'd think of the gnome?? :)
