Richard and I stopped by a park this past Saturday and went on a walk. You would never believe it but this is close to a very busy shopping area. As you can see from our photos, Lenora Park was almost deserted. It was heavenly!
And then, on the drive back home, we saw some wild turkeys in the front yard of a home not far from our house! I only managed to get a photo of one of them which is not bad considering I was the one driving and took the photo too! (Luckily, everyone must have been shopping as there were no other cars on the road.)
No turkeys or drivers were hurt in the production of this photo!
I hope that is a camera that crazy lady has pointed at me! |
Amidst all the busyness at this time of year I hope that you find a place of peace and quiet.
Thank you for all who left their sweet comments on my last post about Joan's birthday. That was a like a big birthday gift, so I thank you!
Beautiful pictures to go along with your thoughts there. Being outdoors is always peaceful to me. Nice you have such a lovely place to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for our kind words. My husband and I love to go on our walks, it was very nice in the sun with the colorful leaves. x
DeleteGorgeous red oak - it's amazingly RED, isn't it! I love seeing wild turkey but seldom get a shot as good as yours. :)
ReplyDeleteWe think we have a red oak in our back yard too, and it is a beauty, one of the last to turn color we find.
DeleteAnd I do wonder what that turkey must of thought of me, stopping my car in the road to take his picture! :-)
Beautiful trees. We often see wild turkeys as we drive around, amazing to see them.
ReplyDeleteI know, Sylvia, I think the turkeys are an amazing sight to see also! And I bet you have some color still on your leaves too, am I right?
DeleteLike your turkey, that's how they should look, not the hormone infused monstrosities we raise and sell.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see what turkeys should really look like, it makes you wonder what all those hormones could be doing to us as Americans, doesn't it?
DeleteWe do have a couple of nice spots to walk around here, now i just have to find time during daylight hours when i'm not at work to take advantage of them!
ReplyDeleteYes, if you notice, that was on a Saturday that Richard and I walked, it is very hard to get out during the working week. (And very often, R. will work on Saturday!)
DeleteI was surprised to see so many leaves still on the trees. I love all the colors.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think that this is the latest I have ever seen leaves on the trees like this. Most likely, they will all be gone within a week or so.
DeleteThat's so cool you got to see a wild turkey!
ReplyDeleteWe often see them near this property near our home and you can bet we always look for them!
DeleteThe leaves are still so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd when the sun is shining upon them, they are breathtaking!
DeleteKay, you have won my giveaway! Please see my comment on your original comment :)
ReplyDeleteI am very tickled to win your giveaway! You have made my day, thank you!!
DeleteThe wild turkeys have come out from the wild now that Thanksgiving is over...but they'll dart back out of sight in a couple of weeks when Christmas draws nigh! :)
ReplyDeleteThat turkey will be hiding again for sure!! :-)
DeleteThat's one fine looking turkey. There ain't much better than finding a nice park, or indeed any patch of nature, and just taking it in for a while.
ReplyDeleteWe always look for these wild turkeys, you can see why!
Delete"One touch of nature makes the whole world kin". I didn't say that, Shakespeare did! :-)
A beautiful park, and strange that not many more people were there on such a gorgeous day!
ReplyDeleteThere are no wild turkeys in my part of the world, but last Sunday while out on the fields I saw a couple of storks - that took me very much by surprise, since normally, they migrate to Africa for the winter.
But this year, it's been very warm and sunny so far, so they may have decided to stay.
I have never seen storks, only photos of them. And of course, they always have cut outs of them in baby showers, since they used to say that storks brought the babies!
DeleteI think it was a very busy shopping day and it looked as if no one had time to stop and walk the paths at this park!
Pretty colors. I love that turkey. Superb photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you! And you know, I took the turkey one! :-)
DeleteA very beautiful day to be out and about! xx
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice day to be out, glad it was a day off from work too! xx
DeleteOh, it looks so beautiful & peaceful! And, of course, I love those turkeys!!! Hope your December is going well, Kay! XOXO
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a wild turkey in the UK but there are quite a few in NZ but if you as much as stop the car within 500 yards of them they scary away very quickly. I've managed a few shots from a long distance with a very powerful lens but nothing as good as your photo.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I've tried to take photos while driving too ~ great wild turkey shot!
