Look On The Bright Side/The Snow Lay On The Ground

I really love this cartoon.  This is from a Christmas card and my son knows how much I like this, so last year he found one in a store and bought it for us.  Funny and positive, this is my kind of humor!

"The Snow Lay On The Ground" is a song that I heard for the first time on the radio as I was sitting in stopped traffic on I-20 on the way to see my Daddy on Saturday.  (It was due to construction work, it took 20 minutes to move 2 miles, so I had time to listen to music!)
I really like this hymn! I would love to find the choir that I heard on the radio but maybe you would like to hear the tune and sing along with it?  Go ahead and sing, you know you want to!
Now, I ask you, do you know this song? It seems that it is not very well known in the USA but then, maybe I have just missed it.    Let me know if you like it as much as I do!

  2. Beautiful music. I listen to Christmas songs and watch Christmas movies all during the season.

  3. Never heard this song before, but it is nice that you took something good out of the stopped traffic! Most people simply get angry and impatient in that situation.
The cartoon is very funny :-)
I love your header photo! I know you either had the same one last year around Christmas, or at least of the same place (old station and now it's a shop, or something like that?).

    1. The construction on that stretch of inter-state highway has been a long drawn out thing and they only do it on the weekends, so I have to allow extra time to get to my Dad's on time!
The header photo is from Olde Town Conyers, that building was the train depot at one time, it is used as a tourist office now, they mostly tell the film crews where to park! (They shoot TV shows and movies in the old town now!) And really, that photo is from last year, but it looks about the same this year, so I have it on here again!

  6. Love the cartoon. I'm pretty sure I've heard the carol on one of those rare visits to the village church at Christmas. And, as it is that time, a very Merry Christmas to you and your family and all that's good in the year ahead.

    1. Ah, the churches in England, you have no idea how much I love them! I have great hopes that one day the USA will copy you and we will also have the TV show, SONGS OF PRAISE. I hope so!! And Mike, I wish you a very Merry Christmas also, and if you get snow, I hope it is Deep Pan Crisp and Even! HA!!

  8. My sympathy on the traffic, we have similar here. It does give you time to listen to the radio, although i've never heard that song.
The card is a hoot! That's my kind of humor, too.

    1. Now every time you see a picture of a snowman with coal eyes, you will think of this cartoon. Someone meant it for bad, but he turned it into something good!

  16. It has been predicted we could receive a few showers on Christmas Day and cooler summer temps...which will be great if both occur.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Kay. :)

  19. I know the song from a Christmas songbook I have. I do a little Irish Christmas Medley in church on Christmas eve every few years: Wexford Carol and The Snow Lay on the Ground. I'm doing the medley this Christmas Eve. I love the cartoon.

    1. Oh, I would love to hear those two songs together! Wish I could go to your church service on Christmas Eve!
I remember a sermon where the point of it was "You meant it for bad but I turned it into good", and I have never forgotten it! Merry Christmas!

  20. I do know The Snow Lay On The Ground. I recognised it at least. It is nice, like most hymns. That card is pretty fun too, and a nice message. Plus coal gives us heat and fire. It's far more practical than most presents good kids get.

It has been many years since I saw a lump of coat. I think I used to see them beside the railroad track but if so, I am showing my age!
