Welcoming Friends

Cox's Orange Pippin- Never mind the name, it is an APPLE! Don't you want to eat it?

Richard with his friend Henry in Henry's Garden-September 2014

Here we are posing with Henry's parents, Joy & Henry. Don't we look happy?

Everything in Henry & Sarah's garden was lovely.

The fruit was perfectly ripe.  This was a pear tree in Henry's garden.

It might seem that I am going back in time...I wrote about November in my last post and now, I am showing you photos of our trip to England from September!  There are still lots of photos that I can show you and even more that I want to tell you about.  One of the main things though is to say that we don't just visit England, we visit with family and friends and we are made to feel welcome, very welcome indeed.

School friends since John Ruskin Grammar School!

Lovely meal!

Henry, Richard and Dave...can't you still see them as naughty boys?  :-) Better be good, guys, Santa's watching!
Our visit to Dave in Burwash was a very nice visit too and we took some great photos but that will have to wait for another post!

The Joy of Friends!  That was the name of the post that I wrote two years ago when we last visited England and you may read it just here.  If you don't have time to look at it, I have some photos of Joy & Henry from that post.   Here's to all friends, near and far.  Please, leave best wishes here for our friends in England.  Happy Christmas to you all!  xx
Gorgeous!

Gorgeous, even the Queen thinks so!

  1. I remember you having shown us the lovely place of your friends before, right? (Didn't go back to the older post to check.)
I even remember the Yellow Daisy Festival you are wearing - I want one of those!!!
It's the same for me when I go to England - I mainly go to see Steve's family, who has totally become my family, and friends. Everything else, like my favourite walk to Fountains Abbey or seeing other sights, is just an added bonus :-)
Best wishes to friends, whereever they are on this planet (and beyond, if you happen to have an astronaut friend who is currently residing aboard the ISS)!

    1. Yes, I showed Henry & Sarah's house and garden in that post from two years ago! And I don't normally wear bright patterns like that but I had to represent the Yellow Daisies!
You, of all people, know just what I mean about visiting England! It is spent visiting dear people that you don't get to see that often.
Aha, now we know YOU must have friends in HIGH places! HA! :-)

    1. Yes, I agree...I started to name this post, "Faithful Friends Who Are Dear To Us" but I thought that seem too corny, so I didn't. It would have been true though! :-)

  3. Those are some really nice apples. There's not much like visiting old friends. Though I don't really have any so I can't say for sure. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and were so welcome, and had a great time with old friends and family.

    1. Thank you! Good luck with your driving, by the way! Be careful and drive defensively, that is my advice for you!
Hope you have a nice Christmas!

  5. Yeah, I bet those three boys were holy terrors at grammar school!

Hey, did you see that Angelina Jolie had to miss the red carpet premiere of her own movie "Unbroken" because she had chicken pox? What's up all of a sudden with all these adults catching what used to be strictly childhood diseases? There's a whole bunch of hockey players in the NHL who just came down with mumps too, fer gawds sake. The world is upside down!

    1. Ha! I am only guessing since the guys don't have too much to say about their school days. They are British, after all! LOL!
Yes! I saw that Angelina had chicken pox. AND that the hockey players had mumps, guess they didn't get their vaccinations! Don't know about you, they were sticking me with shots all the time! (Except for chicken pox, that wasn't around when I was a kid).

  6. It always sounds strange when I hear Happy Christmas instead of Merry Christmas. I guess for you English relatives our way sound strange.

    1. Yes, they almost always say Happy when we almost always say Merry.
      I wonder why that is?
You will be sending me to do some research on this subject! :-)

  10. The pictures gave me a feeling of joy. So much love is evident in each one. The wedding photo looks like a double exposure but I agree with you... It is gorgeous.

    1. I took a photo of that photo on their wall, and I didn't know that the sun was giving such a reflection but you can still see their smiling faces and see them holding hands looking into their happy future! So, since I liked it so much, I have shared it with you! Glad you can see the love! x

  12. Hi Kay

Really good to be reminded of the good old times: even if they were as recent as 3 months ago! Since then we have all been a bit under the weather. Even our dog was under the scalpel yesterday.

Joy and Henry will be tickled pink to see the photos. That wedding photo was taken 64 years and 5 months ago.

Wishing you, Rick and Christopher and all a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2015.

    Henry and Sarah
