Today in the neighboring town of Covington, they had a special day called "Officer Morgan Day". It was in honor of a five year old little boy named Morgan who has muscular dystrophy and is in a wheelchair. He idolizes those in law enforcement and wishes to be an officer himself one day. The Covington Police Department has made it happen! There were lots of surprises for the lad, including a surprise visit from Shaquille O'Neal, a very famous basketball star. (You will be able to know which one he is...he is seven feet tall!) See the sweet story here.
If you get a chance to look at the photos on that link, you might recognize Covington. There have been several TV shows and movies filmed there. Years ago, I was visiting New York City and when I turned on the TV in the hotel room, I was startled to see the courthouse in Covington! It was on the opening credits of "The Dukes Of Hazard". Now, they film the TV show "The Vampire Diaries" in the square of Covington.
I was glad to see this on TV. Making a little boy's dream come true might not be a big news item on the national or international news but it should be.
Thank you, Officer Morgan for your service to Covington and watching out for us!
Sounds like he had a great day! Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI just wish I could have been there!
DeleteOh my gosh! That is the sweetest story. This is so uplifting. I 'm loving your header, Kay.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay! Glad you liked this story too!
DeleteThat's Christopher from a few years ago at Beachy Head in Eastbourne, England!
Great header photo, Kay, and I also love the one with the pretty wreaths on the railway express agency.
ReplyDeleteA touching story, and you are right - even "just" making a little boy's wish come true should make national news.
Yes, the "Railway Express" sign was there still from a movie, I think...that is the Conyers Depot but it is no longer used as a train station. The trains go past but they are freight trains, so passenger trains go through Conyers anymore.
Delete(They still decorate the Depot quite nicely though!)
Glad you liked little Morgan's story too, it made me happy to see his sweet smile. xx
New Zealand is good at many things. One is making news of Good Things. I like it when these things happen.
ReplyDeleteMe and you both. I think that I would like New Zealand very much!
DeleteIt's always good to read about people that help others. Good news is far too rare. I too love your header picture!
ReplyDeleteThere are just not enough good stories on the news for me!
DeleteGlad you like my header photo, that is our son and I took that photo a few years ago, at Beachy Head and you feel like you on top of the world!
Wonderful. And it's nice to know that Shaq does these things. He's idolized around here.
ReplyDeleteYes! I know that Shaq was an outstanding basketball player but I like him because he is such a nice guy!
DeleteGreat story Kay and thanks for sharing. Glad to see some positive celebrity news with Shaq graciously volunteering his time to help with the big day--sadly we are bombarded on a daily basis with everything negative about celebs.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and the family are doing well.
Yes! Like you, I really think we should hear more of the good news!
DeleteDid you see that Ryan Ferguson was released?
Hope you and your family are well and looking forward to a happy holiday!
I love when others spread the good will to ones like this little guy. Bravo fro Shaq, he could be so vain, but that doesn't seem to be in his character.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a good story, too good not to share it! I love that Shaq came to that, imagine being a little kid and seeing that 7 foot man towering over you! What an impression that would make!
