Shout, Brother, Shout...sung by the Inkspots with FANTASTIC dancing by Tip, Tap and Toe!
When I happily discovered the Inkspots this year, I found this fantastic dancing by Tip, Tap and Toe. (Real names- Samuel Green, Ted Fraser and Ray Winfield.) Such joy, such incredible dancing! I wonder if young people nowadays would think this was computer generated, but we know better. This was just pure talent. I wish they could have had more opportunities but I am grateful that we have this film that we can still enjoy it today. (And I have read that this dancing and singing scene is the best part of the whole movie!) Let me know what you think, I was just stunned by how fast they could move. The tap called "sliding style" was invented by Ray Winfield. Watch the video and you will know what I am talking about!
These photos were taken at my sister's beautiful home on Christmas Eve. I LOVE her taste!
For the new year..."We'll take a cup of kindness yet". Yes, that is what I would like for the whole world, an overflowing cup of kindness. Light and love in the New Year for you all.
Hi Kay! Beautiful sentiment! I enjoyed the video clip so much. In those moments they were so alive. My family in Calgary and I just counted down to the new year - over the phone. Terry is asleep in bed, although I woke him up so everyone could say "HNY! We love you!" I think we just have to appreciate the incredible joy of being alive. HYN to you and yours!
Apparently my niece Heather had skyped in from Dubai to Calgary, and she was counting down with the family and me too! I got a lot of ribbing last night from my brother Roy (her father) because I couldn't remember talking with Heather on NYE. Roy blames my forgetting on too much NYE wine. I blame it on the mass confusion of talking with so many relatives and all the excitement and noise. Whatever - we had a great NYE! Hope yours was great too!
Hi Kay! Just wanted to pop in and wish you a very Happy New Year! You found my blog last year at around this time....so thankful for our friendship. Looking forward to our next year ~ could this be the year we meet in person??? XOXO
Happy new year to you too! So thankful that I found your blog! Has it been a year? Tempus fugit! And I am thankful for you too, dear Audrey. YES! Let's climb up Stone Mountain together, in the Spring, when the wildflowers are blooming and the fresh light green leaves are just coming out on the trees. Just say when! :-)
Don't know if I mentioned but my dear friend that lived in ATL moved back to CLT. I was thrilled, of course, but I don't have a nice (free) place to stay or as much reason to visit ATL as before. My best friend lives in Nashville though and we sometimes meet 1/2way in ATL. Whenever we plan another trip, you know you'll be my first "call".
Isn't it amazing? And it was unexpected for me, I was just looking for The Inkspots songs. I loved the grace of it all, even down to watching them fold up the tablecloths. Happy new year to you too, you funny, sulky kitten!
Happy new year to you, Jane! I love dancing and I loved this video! I added a note above to say that those photos were from my sister's house, but we do have the same taste!
Glad you liked it too, Debra! Hope you don't mind me being a "bossy-boots" and telling you to read that book, but you will LOVE it, Joshua Slocum was Canadian, I forgot to mention! :-)
I knew you would love this! So happy to have you as one of my blogging friends. Happy new year, and hope you crochet and bike this year as much as you like!
Best wishes for a wonderful New Year, Kay. Amazing how both of us posted about dancing for the New Year - we really do think alike. Those guys are absolutely brilliant tap dancers. Love this video clip. All the best, Mairead
