If I can't get to see gorgeous leaves on the local trails...
I can always enjoy them in the local parking lots! The reds seems to be the most spectacular.
Does this post give you a warm, fuzzy feeling? Hope so!
(Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he? Sorry...even as a kid, I loved wordplay!) Hope you all are doing well these days!
And I hope you are doing well these days, Kay! What gorgeous autumn leaves. Thinking of how our leaves are mostly gone and certainly not colorful makes me think of Edwin Way Teale who wrote books like North with the Spring. I think you would enjoy them! They're non-fiction.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I just looked him up and I think I would like his books too! We had such hot, hot weather for so very long that it had to affect the leaves but even so, I have heard others being disappointed that the leaves were not as colorful. For myself, I just see beauty, I try not to compare.
DeleteDon't you just love the fall colors?
ReplyDeleteI do! I am thankful that I can see the beauty of them. We have a big red oak beside our building at work and this past week...it has been spectacular! I pointed it out to a co worker and he looked at it and said he hadn't noticed it before! So sad! It was right in his FACE! He might notice it next year! Tee hee.
DeleteIt never ceases to amaze me what people do NOT see.
DeleteThere are none so blind as those who do not see.
DeleteStunningly beautiful, and what a gorgeous day you had. It all looks somewhat like we saw in Canada a few weeks ago - they of course have snow now!
ReplyDeleteOh, I know you saw some gorgeous leaves in Canada!
DeleteRed leaves are my favourite!
ReplyDeleteOH, you red maple gal, you would!!
DeleteI always loved walking through fall woods. I love all the colors of fall.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for the trees. At one time, Atlanta was known as the "city in the trees", but I don't know if anyone even remembers that anymore. Now, we are known for traffic and "the world's busiest airport."
DeleteThese are so beautiful, Kay! Thank you for sharing them. I hope the little fuzzy caterpillar will survive the winter and emerge in the spring as a wonderful butterfly.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, those trails look very inviting - I'd love to explore them all.
Oh, how much you love to walk on these long, long trails! You could go much further than we do! And the caterpillar? I looked him up and although I think I found him, Richard's photo is much better than any of those I found! I think it is the Io caterpillar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automeris_io
DeleteLovely trees! And cute caterpillar, I'm often amazed at the look of them. The red trees are the showiest, we have none that grow here as natives in England but we do have some very sensational orange and yellow ones. Mostly they've gone from the trees now.
ReplyDeleteSince I have published this post, many of the trees that were still green, have now all gone a lovely yellow or gold. Now, this will only last a short while but I will enjoy it while I can!
DeleteTrying to identify the caterpillar, I read you must be very careful around fuzzy ones-they are poisonous, the hairs contain toxins. No problem for me, I have no intention of picking one up!
I will miss the leaves when they are gone. They are the only bit of color left here on these dark dreary days. What a gift to the eyes they are. Hope you are doing well too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gift indeed! That is just it, isn't it? We should appreciate that gift and not think on what the leaves have looked like in the past but just enjoy what has been given to us! Thanks for the well wishes, I think I went to England as one person but came back as another one. Just have to adjust to me as this new person! :-)
DeleteNice collection of autumn leaves. Maples tend to have vivid red leaves that always stand out in any landscape.
ReplyDeleteAh, the maples are gorgeous...but we also have dogwood, sourwood and many others that are drop dead gorgeous in the autumn! The parking lot photos are maples but the 3rd photo here is a dogwood and I took that one with the sun lighting it up. I am sorry to say that many of our red trees I can't tell you all their names, I have yet to identify them but I promise you, I love them all the same.
DeleteBeautiful pictures. Here our leaves just turn dull brown.
ReplyDeleteI lived in South Georgia as a teenager and I think that is what made me appreciate the fall color. As you say, the leaves just turned brown and dropped off. I was so happy to get back to North Georgia again!
DeleteBeautiful pictures! My leaves of November are ... not there. ;<))
ReplyDeleteNow Nan, you live in beautiful Maine. I can't feel TOO sorry for you! :-)
DeleteTruly a beautiful place with so many colorful trees.
ReplyDeleteI know that Hawaii must be incredibly beautiful but I would miss the autumnal colors if I lived there!
DeleteFuzzy wuzzy was a worm, a mighty worm was he, he crawled upon a railroad track, a train he didn't see....something from childhood, but I don't remember the rest of it, darn. Awesome pictures and pretty color. We had far less color here than normal, not sure why so we didn't really enjoy much of it. Leaves were falling in many cases before they turned color, and others went right to brown and fell. We had a couple of good days with our trees in the yard, but it was short lived as a very windy rain storm took them all out in one afternoon. Bummer.

DeleteDon't know if you will come back and read the above that I found, but it is interesting! "The mind delights in meter and rhyme."
Many folks here say that this autumn was not the best which may be true but it still looks good to me!
And I never heard of the worm, but looking it up, it said "Oooey gooey was a worm" but Fuzzy Wuzzy fits this worm/caterpillar! :-) Thanks for your comment! I bet you liked rhymes as much as I did!
Thank you for reminding me of "Fuzzy Fuzzy," Kay! I hadn't thought of it in decades! Your fall photos are lovely. Our fall leaves in Aurora were a bust ~ the effect of heat and drought. Thank you for sharing yours!
ReplyDeleteOMG, your fall colors are awesome! That's one of the things I miss, living here in Florida. We have some fall colors, but it's not nearly as intense as further north.
