I've been thinking of this song lately...I am sure you must know it too. "Turn! Turn! Turn!" is a song that was written by Pete Seeger in the late 1950's but was a big hit for the Byrds in 1965. Interesting to note that the words to this song are almost word for word from the Bible (King James) from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. At the end of the song, after it says "a time for peace", it then says, "I swear it's not too late". So, that last line and the "turn, turn, turn" line...they are the only words from Pete Seeger, all the rest is from the book of Ecclesiastes! (Of course, the words are re-arranged a bit, but all are from the Bible.)
I am sure you all must know this but as I say, this song has been in my mind this week, so I wanted to share it here.

In Georgia, it has been the grey skies and rain for us. Lately, we have had some sunny days, quite cold, but sunny. The sun is so welcome!!

DeleteI have loved this song since it first came out, Kay! It always reminds me to keep things in perspective, so it is comforting. Whenever I'm in a rough patch, I try to remember "this, too, shall pass." I've been trying to get back into a routine with my blogging, too. I miss all my blogging buddies when I get out of touch. I think of you often, and I'm sending you a big hug!

DeleteI was born in 1968 and so must have known this song more or less all my life. Yes, it is taken directly from the Bible, and the words can be particularly poignant when we are in a situation where things in our life could be about to change... for the better or the worse.

DeleteI was a sophomore in college when this came out. The times were very chaotic. Somehow, though, they felt a bit more hopeful then now. Or perhaps it was that I was on what my husband used to call "the uphill slope of life". But this song spoke to us all, the people in my generation. And I am so glad you are getting to hike on your favorite mountains from time to time.

DeleteI have always loved that song. Sam Cooke sang A Change is Gonna Come and John Lennon sang Imagine. Of course we have to work for it but things will always change.

DeleteSimilar to Emma Springfield....I've always loved this song. And during the early to mid-Sixties Pete Seeger was very popular with my group of friends and me. Folk music played a huge part in our lives back in those wonderful years.
