If you noticed, the woman is quoted as saying, "We tried to help as many as we could, picking them up one by one and tossing them into the sea." This so much reminded me of a story that I have told you before...
Thousands of starfish wash up on a beach and a woman is seen to be picking each one up and tossing it back into the water. A man comes along and says, "What are you doing? There are thousands here, what difference do you think you can make?"
She picked one up and threw it into the sea and said, " Made a difference to that one!"
Your new header photo makes me think of the steep walk up Glastonbury Tor.
ReplyDeleteIt is at Beachy Head in Eastbourne. Sad to say that it is one of the top spots for suicide in the country. It is an incredibly beautiful spot, high chalky cliffs overlooking the English channel.
DeleteLittle things can make a big difference to one person.
ReplyDeleteThat song reminds me of walking the beach and seeing the sunrise. It does look like a red ball coming up over the horizon.
Paul Simon would be pleased that you think so! (He wrote it along with Bruce Woodley of the Seekers.)
DeleteEvery little bit helps!
ReplyDeleteAnd if EVERYONE did all the little bits they would add up!
DeleteI saw that. Was it weather or something else that caused it?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was the terrible cold that they got from Russia, along with the high/low tide, can't remember, it was in the article that I had the link to! :-)
DeleteKay, You are so right...everyone thrown back can make a difference. Hope the storms settle down. Praying for the east coast. Blessings, xoxo Susie
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw those terrific storms on our northeast coast, but England had some at almost the same time! xx
DeleteHi Kay - I hadn't seen this item in the news ... though can believe it. Interesting to read it ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHa, stick with me Hilary, I only like to share the interesting things! :-)
DeleteEven if it helps just one single person or animal, it should not be not done, however insignificant something may seem to us at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHowever insignificant it may seem!
DeleteA very wise post, Kay....And if everyone made a little difference, a great deal might be accomplished. Little by little.
ReplyDeleteI know, if we all could pool our resources, just think what a better world it would be.
DeleteWe can all make a difference every day ! Love the starfish story !
ReplyDeleteI had this story about the starfish on here years ago, but I was so amazed how much the news item echoed it that I had to tell it again.
DeleteExactly. I love that story. Do what you can wherever your are it does make a difference if only a very small one. It all counts
ReplyDeleteJanice
Hey Janice! Happy you love this story too!
Delete"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteLove that quote, thanks for sharing it on this post!
DeleteThis is a beautiful story. And it's so true, isn't it? Even if you help one creature, it's important to that living being and it's better than not doing anything at all.
ReplyDeleteI truly do love that story and when I have told it before, I was told that creatures as many as that could never be washed ashore like that. So, I had to link to the story in England which did just that!
