Sports! At times, there is so much happening that you just cannot keep up with all the games! On Saturday, there was a Georgia/Florida game (which Georgia lost) AND they actually televised the Rugby World Cup final from London between New Zealand and Australia! The All Blacks from New Zealand won! I wasn't at home but I remembered to record it. Wait, I thought, when I was searching for this on my list of recorded things...isn't it New Zealand that does that intimidating chant/dance before their opponents? YES!, it is called the "Haka" and it is really something to see! I found a video of the meaning behind it and I hope you like this as much as I do!
On Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons lost to Tampa Bay in overtime AND the Kansas City Royals won the World Series beating the New York Met in extra innings! How can anyone have time to watch all of this? No one can...that is why you have the great Sports TV channels AND the internet!
"Keep up, Kay", I remember my teachers saying to me...that is what I am trying to do! AND I have to keep up with my home and my family and my friends and my blogging world...you get the idea? !!! At least we gained that hour this weekend!
Hey! We have to walk too! These are photos from years past, our leaves are not the same this year, too much rain!
I do like a good haka. Nowadays it's not just the New Zealanders that do it. Australia and New Zealand really take their rugby seriously, as well as their rivalry with eachother. That must have been a great match.
ReplyDeleteI only had seen the Haka last year, and just barely remembered it when I knew I had recorded the Rugby final! (You don't really want to know how poor my memory is!) It WAS a great match, I think I have figured out rugby, they just keep the ball moving almost all the time!
DeleteI am all about trying to KEEP UP myself lately. lol I hope you have a great week, Kay. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteKeep up Kay! Typing this post made me realize how many times I heard that from teachers! Hope you have a great week too, Diana. I hope you didn't SCARE too many at Halloween! LOL xx
DeleteI always feel like I'm in sports heaven this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI know! So much to see and a lot of it all at the same time!
DeleteI am just trying to catch up. That extra hour came while I was sleeping and I missed out there too.
ReplyDeleteI am such a sports nut that I record things and watch them later, hoping I don't hear the results from somebody!
DeleteI really enjoy watching displays of Haka! I remember seeing Prince Harry take part in one. But I am not someone who tries to watch team sports much. Neither was my husband which had a lot to do with it.
ReplyDeleteYes! I saw that same one with Prince Harry! Funny for me, my husband also does not care that much for sports! I miss my son who inherited his love of sports from ME!
DeleteThanks for that video clip explaining the haka. It can be a bit overdone but is always special when performed by the All Blacks.
ReplyDeleteHey Pauline! Glad you liked the video about the haka too!! I love to know the meaning and the history behind things.
DeleteThank you for sharing this video! That's amazing, I had no idea about it. I LOVE your fall pictures. The tree colours are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing well. Have a happy Tuesday! Sending lots of hugs to you.
Hello Beate!
DeleteOh! So happy to see your comment here! Just looked at your blog and what lovely photos of the Alps!!! You both look so happy. I am glad.
Our autumn colors are not the same this year, but just yesterday, I noticed, they are becoming more and more in color, perhaps they are just late this year! Hugs to YOU! xx
You do have beautiful trees when there's not too much rain! As for the sports, there's always so much going on.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing, the trees don't turn as much in south Georgia as they do in North Georgia! And sports! Oh, don't get me started...you will know that FAN comes from FANATIC!!
DeleteDidn't realize you were so into sports. I try to avoid them on TV as I prefer doing them rather than watching anything. Good films are my entertainment these days. I started playing golf again recently. Like the autumn colours on the trees.
ReplyDeleteJust as I am Georgia Girl with an English heart, so do I have a split personality when it comes to sports! You see, my husband doesn't really care for them, but he is kind enough to record games for me, those that he know I particularily want to see! Just as well I don't watch as much as I used to, I can get a bit CRAZY overboard about them! Besides, they take TIME to watch, while I was watching the football game on Sunday, I crocheted some baby washcloths as a gift...you gotta have something to show for all the time! I do anyway!
DeleteOh! Good films, I am glad to know that. I will have to let you know of any that I see that I think you should see also!!
It's hard to do it all but I guess you just have to pick the best of the all the better things out there! Your fall pics are lovely, even though you were cheated this year! Our color is gone now and it's looking a bit brown around town! Have a good week and don't try to do it all!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, your comment reminds me very much of the quote from the Ghost of Christmas Past from "A Christmas Carol"!! You will have to look it up now!
DeleteHope you recovered from all your Halloween shenanigans!
Fabulous tree pics - I love the northern Autumn!
ReplyDeleteI also love the fall colors, even in a year that they are not as good as years past, I can still enjoy them!
DeleteAnd today here in the wonderful Land Down Under we celebrated Melbourne Cup Day....the horse race that stops a nation! Great day!
ReplyDeleteLove the trees...beautiful. :)
A horse race that stops a nation, that sounds like a fun place!!
DeleteI think those trees were where my husband works, taken last year. Not bad to see before going into work, eh?
You're right - the leaves haven't been very nice here this autumm, but I never give up looking!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what to say about that UGA game. Just sad.
Did you notice that after all the rain we had on Monday, some of the trees are looking really good in color? Did you get a lot of rain? We did, they closed the road at the end of one our streets due to high water!!
DeleteThat Georgia game, whoo boy, hard to watch!
The Haka is amazing - even as an Englishman, I find it impressive and moving. Certainly something to respect. And didn't the All Blacks do well?! It wasn't a great competition for the Home Nations!
ReplyDeleteImpressive and moving, yes that is just how I feel about it too. And yes! The All Blacks were very good! First rugby game I have ever seen! I just wish I could have seen more when I was in England!
DeleteThe University of Hawaii football team always performs the Haka before games.
ReplyDeleteAll the more reason to go to Hawaii, would love to see this in person!
