I have been crocheting some little hearts and it is a very nice pattern from Lucy from Attic 24...you may find her pattern just here! And then, I read a way to join hearts and make them into a bunting!
Bunting is very popular in England, you almost always see bunting used at fayres (fairs) and fetes (what we would call a festival, I suppose.)
I rejoiced at the words from the pattern...it said to keep connecting them until...
"All hearts are joined".
Oh, I really just loved that. I made one of these heart buntings...but I also made one as a giveaway, to honor all the hearts joined together in our blogging world and to also honor the Olympic spirit that I have been enjoying this week. So...please leave me a comment and you will be entered into my giveaway! Here is a photo of the heart bunting on my mantel....
It's just a little thing, but I have enjoyed seeing these hearts strung along my mantel! I have placed each end underneath the photo frames at the ends of the mantel and that holds it quite nicely.
Now, these hearts are not as perfect as Lucy's from Attic 24! Hers are very good. My hearts are a bit wonky but they look sweet if you don't look too closely.
Want to see some of the cards on my mantel?
The card above was from a co-worker today and I thought it looked pretty with one of my crocheted hearts!
This is a hand-made get-well card that was made in England and was sent to me from the Isle of Lewis! Those are Austrian and Czech crystals in the spoon, and it says "A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down"! Such a lovely card, I was so sick during the month of January, it really did help!! Doesn't it fit perfectly in my Valentine collection? Thanks to the sweet lady who sent this to me, you know who you are!
. Our son was always crazy about dinosaurs and here is a card that we gave him years ago, and I put it out every Valentine's Day, just because it reminds me of our son! (Happy Valentine's to our son and his girlfriend!)
Now, sometimes a piece of ice can look like a dinosaur...see what you think of the next photo...
This ice was on our ROOF! I told you we had an ice storm, didn't I?
Remember to leave a comment and let me know if you want to be entered for the "Until All Hearts Are Joined" crochet heart bunting giveaway! I will let you know the winning name by the end of next week! (Oh, and Richard took the first and last of these photos, and I photographed the others!) Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, with NO ICE.
The ice does look like a dinosaur! I really would rather battle the snow than ice any day. I hope you're all back to normal down south. I don't like it when weird weather shows up where it's not wanted! Temps are actually rising up here..we may even hit 50 by next week! Believe me, flip flops will be showing up everywhere! I love your hearts and would love to be included in the giveaway! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGlad you can see the dinosaur too, I see faces or heart shapes in everything!
DeleteHappy you like the little heart bunting, wouldn't it be sweet at a baby shower for a little girl? You will be in the drawing!
No ice in sight over here, but 10 Celsius today, which is rather mild.
ReplyDeleteThe dinosaur card is too funny! Is it Gary Larson?
Of course you know that the "spoonful of sugar" is from a Mary Poppins song. What a lovely idea for a get-well-card, and so beautifully done!
We don't really "do" Valentine here, but I love the heart-shaped bunting and would like to be included in the drawing for your giveaway. I can just picture it strung across the kitchen window - or maybe even better, the living room window, for my next party :-)
The dinosaur card has a name "Smith" at the bottom but it is so small that I had to search just now to find it!
DeleteOf course, I LOVE Mary Poppins! And the card is even prettier than the photo shows, there are tiny flowers with small pearls in the middle of each flower!
And you know how much I love hearts, I think they could be used year round!
Your name is in the drawing!!
That header photo is enough to warm the coldest of hearts...how beautiful it is.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your St. Valentine's Day, Kay. :)
Thanks, Lee!
DeleteI took that photo when we were in England a few years ago, and I love it since the flowers are so very bright and cheerful, I thought it would be nice for the grey days of this month!
Hope you had a nice Valentine's Day too! :-)
I can see the ice dinosaur! Luckily we don't have either of those here, just lots of rain (though we've escaped the floods in the south). I would love the chance to win your hearts and even more so because they're wonky - they are full of character, just like you. xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you can see the ice dinosaur too!
DeleteHappy to put your name in for the heart bunting drawing.
A bit wonky but full of character, like me...hee, hee, some would say I am full of something else, but we don't have to listen to them!
So very glad that your "spoonful of sugar" helped you get better. Pretty cards are always a joy to get.
ReplyDeleteWhat terrible weather for you - not Georgia weather at all. Weather is weird all over. Graham is having the worst summer in NZ, half of England several feet under water and we up here are having the mildest winter - although very wet.
I am glad someone else "sees" pictures in objects. I saw a stampede of horses in the clouds from my kitchen window the other evening. Crazy me!!!!!
Oh Pat, thank you very much for the card, can you tell how much I love it? When the sun hits those crystals in the spoon, they just sparkle!!
DeleteGraham left me a comment and said that the same thing. Poor guy, you think of such beautiful summers in New Zealand!
I am ALWAYS seeing things in clouds, tree shapes, rocks, blocks of ice...you get the idea! Mostly faces and hearts...that is what I see the most. And if you tell me you have seen horses in the clouds, I won't say "NAY" (neigh, get it?)
HA!
Kay, i hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. We were blessed with great weather for delivery here, and they kept up hopping, but i feel for those up north. Valentine's Day can be a florist's biggest day of the year, financially, and to have no way to make deliveries because of a huge storm is awful for them.
ReplyDeleteI know, I saw this on the news about the troubles for the florists over the deliveries for Valentine's Day, one of the busiest for them.
DeleteHope you had a Happy Valentine's Day, loved the spoonful of sugar and the dinosaurs.
ReplyDeleteValentine's Day, spoonful of sugar and dinosaurs...never know what you will find on one of my posts, eh? HA!
DeleteHi Kay! I'm slowly catching up from being behind again! I'm hoping you are on the mend after being sick for so long! You and Audrey (and your families) have been very much on my mind as these storms have pounded your areas. I'm glad that you all are fine. Your hearts are darling! Love the ice dinosaur at the end ~ makes me think of T-rex! And of course I love the dinosaur valentine. One of my school kiddos gave me the same one years ago! Take care! Be well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your well wishes, we are hoping the worst of the weather is behind us!
DeleteYes! That is T-Rex, all right! It reminds me, I used to pick up my son's dinosaurs and ask him to put his dinosaurs away...but sometimes, I would say "T-Rex"...you know, actually call it by its correct name and my son would say, "GOOD Mommy!"...HA! Much as you would praise a child for getting something right!
Please do enter me in your sweet giveaway! Hearts should be displayed all year long!:) I've had such fun stopping by- please do come for a visit when you get a minute... Lori
ReplyDeleteHello Lori!
DeleteOf course I will enter you in the drawing! And I just looked at your blog and it is lovely, just like yourself!
And we have a lot in common, l agree that hearts should be displayed all year long!
That ice dinosaur is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? Richard has such an eye! I love to see what he finds to photograph!
DeleteOh Kay, those crocheted hearts are ADORABLE! You are so talented. And you know I love me some bunting....of any type really. Please throw my name in the hat. And maybe one day I'll learn to crochet myself. How sweet is Louise? I just saw my name out of the corner of my eye and read her comment. So precious. It's it nice to know that others are looking out for us? :-) Hope you and Richard are having a nice warm weekend.
ReplyDeleteOf course, your name is in the hat for the hearts!
DeleteYes, that Louise is such a sweet kind soul, don't you just love her?
Hope your hubby will be home soon and you can show him all your snowy photos!
Hey!
ReplyDeleteHope you had happy one too!
I sure don't miss that ice that is common living down south. Snow, snow and more snow up this way.
ReplyDeleteSure am sorry for all the snow you have been having. I just would not know what to do, it is just so alien to me.
DeleteNow, we have ice but this winter has been crazy. I am hoping for a mild winter next year!
Does this mean that you would like my crochet heart giveaway? Let me know! Perhaps you wife would like it!
Oh my gosh that dinosaur card has got me in stitches!
ReplyDeleteYour bunting is adorable - and what a sweet phrase that is - "all hearts are joined". :)
By all means enter me in the giveaway!
"Until all hearts are joined"...sounds like a starting point for a good sermon to me!
DeleteOh yes, I will be very happy to enter you in the giveaway, tickled PINK that you like the little bunting!!
Glad you like the dinosaur card too! I especially wanted to show that since the ice looked so much like a T-Rex!
I would love to enter your contest.
ReplyDeleteI want to tell you your heart on your mantel are cute - happy belated Valentine's!
Thanks, Sandie! You are entered into the drawing for the "Until All Hearts Are Joined" crochet bunting! Have a great week!
