Glorious Day-Easter Sunday, 2012
I wish I could express how lovely our service was today at St. Simon's Episcopal Church in little Conyers, Georgia... the flowers, the worship, the fellowship, the sermon and the MUSIC! We only have a tiny choir but when you have even a small number of wonderful singers, they are able to transform the music into something extraordinary. (Thank you Anne Cruz and choir!) Besides our lovely organ and on one song, a beautiful guitar, we also had some songs with a violin and a flute. I tried to find this song by Bach that they did on Youtube and I have succeeded! I love Bach, and I love that he always said his music was all for the glory of God.
After this wonderful service, we celebrated my nephew's birthday and had a great get-together with my family and my Daddy's great biscuits and macaroni & cheese. And the weather was perfect. I hope everyone had such a GLORIOUS DAY!
A glorious day!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
I am sure that you were busy on Easter Sunday! Blessings to you and yours.
DeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful day, Kay! I'm so happy you did. I wish you a lovely week ahead.
ReplyDeleteDear Martha,
DeleteOh, thank you so much sweet Martha! I wish you a lovely week ahead and more garden happiness!
Mine was wonderful but I don't know if it could beat homemade biscuits and mac&cheese. Sounds so yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Audrey,
DeleteMy Dad makes the BEST biscuits and his mac & cheese it just heavenly! There must be a cooking gene that I didn't inherit! We had other great food, of course, but it is my Daddy's cooking that is dear to me.
It sounds like the perfect day. I hope your nephew enjoyed his birthday.
ReplyDeleteYour church looks so pretty decorated with all the lilies. I like the window around the cross.
I have got the Bach piece playing as I type :)
Dear Tracey,
DeleteIt was a wonderful day! St. Simon's is a lovely church, and I am glad you can see that with my photos!
Of course, you will enjoy Bach, you have good taste!
How lovely, Kay...I'm so glad that you had a wonderful weekend too! I love this piece and know it well. I wonder if you've heard one of my favourite quotes? 'When the angels play for God, they play Bach. But when they play for themselves, they play Mozart. And God eavesdrops' Isn't that lovely? Hope you have a great week xx ps I do love the Sound of Music, but most people in Salzburg hate it! I think that it wasn't even shown in Austria for years. xo
ReplyDeleteDear Rachel,
DeleteI LOVE that quote!! "And God eavesdrops"...wonderful!
Oh, and I didn't know that the people in Salzburg didn't like the Sound of Music! I wonder why that is?
You and I need to convert the world to having good taste, don't we? :-)
Hope YOU have a lovely week ahead!
(And I think you look very much like your lovely MUM!)
We had a lovely day and the weather co-oporated too :) Glad to hear your days was good and thanks for sharing that piece.
ReplyDeleteDear Jane,
DeleteOh, I am happy the weather was good for you too!
And I am happy that you liked the Bach piece too, honestly, I just wish I could have recorded what I heard at church on Sunday, it was magnificent.
We had a lovely sunrise service; it's grand to know it was like a symphony around the world, each church contributing a movement.
ReplyDeleteDear Mimi,
DeleteI have photos of Stone Mountain on my blog and for the moment, that is Stone Mountain on my header photo.
They always have a sunrise service on Stone Mountain, and I have always wanted to go...one day, I will!
I love what you wrote..."Like a symphony around the world, each church contributing a movement." AMEN!
Kay - Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures of your Church and I am so happy you had such a lovely day. My kids told me yesterday they had the "best Easter ever". Easter blessings to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteMairead
Dear Mairead,
DeleteThat gives me such joy to hear that your children called it the "best Easter ever". How that must have made your heart sing!
Easter blessings to you and to your loved ones!
I am pleased you had such a nice time. Thanks for the poem you left on my comments page.
ReplyDeleteHey John!
DeleteI hope I got it right, that was only from my memory and sometimes, I remember things right, but still miss a word or two...We had to memorize the first stanza for school, but I memorized the last one too, just because I wanted to! (I was always a rebel, but only in literature class!)
